One last video for the weekend! When editing the start of this engine miniseries these three kinda just came together and made sense to split in this way, so I figured I'd go all-out and get them done in time for the weekend. Unfortunately I don't have a fourth ready to go so don't get your hopes up! I'll continue working on this car and this series of videos but I can't give a timeframe for the release of the next episode.

Yeah, really - I expected them to be released every week or so, which would have been fine and awesome. Not that I complain, but... Just take your time. I really appreciate every upload. :)

Dude you are doing things exactly like I did in the early 90s, all sandpaper, brakleen, and blue glue. It will run, you'll have a great time, but as you get older and learn more, you'll look back on these times and grin as you ask your buddy while having a beer......" man you remember that ol big block firebird with the blower??" Whag an awesome car........ you go dude, you're going to have alot of fun

Only decision of your I have disagreed with reusing the head bolts. I never do that, who know what metal fatigue and the initial stretch from the factory torque is going to do to effect your final assembly torque and their longevity. They are also cheap enough. Each to their own though, love the videos.

I can't resist commenting. Just my five cents because we don't have pennies in Canada anymore. I would've splurged for a mild hydraulic roller cam and a high-rise dual plane intake. Lots of low and midrange torque and throttle response and much less hassle. Those old superchargers are inefficient. The car is already cool and unique enough. As well, a roller cam has no issues with present-day engine oils.

A 454 Chev engine without forced induction will last forever with just a bare bones rebuild.
I have a 5.7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 engine which has Done 363,132 kilometres & while I have replaced the hydraulic lifters ,oil seals & gaskets in it the crankshaft & camshaft bearings are all original as we as the piston rings.
The last time that I checked the dipstick it hadn't used any oil so the big V8's seem to last forever,I bought it with about 182,000 kilometres on the be odometer in 2008 then I put another 181,000 kilometres on it !

no reason to skim the head if they're in spec (which they should be being iron) low compression is ideal in a supercharged setup without an intercooler.

Pre-LS small blocks and these big blocks do not use torque to yield bolts. Easiest way to tell is from the torque spec, if there is a degree measurement or something similar they are torque to yield. That said, replacement is still a good idea.
