Great work, love the videos sir! I've an idea for a fun project: buy the cheapest, rough break barrel you can find ( new ) and see what you can do with it!
@@razor1962 I've done a few Chinese guns with varying results...lol. Polishing de buring etc. Decent guides and good lube. good to see you didn't polish the chamber! With a synthetic seal it just causes dieseling IMHO. You don't polish cylinder walls when fitting new piston rings in an engine for example. I've found leather seals like a shiny bore though. Keep up the good work sir.
Hi Ian. It is a powerful rifle. If nothing else, your 12 ft/lb limit forces the shooter to become proficient. When it comes to small game, accuracy trumps power, and you guys display some amazing skill with your guns.
Hi Kevin, I have seen you do this buttoning in a few videos now, can you tell me what is it you use, are they a specific airgun spare part or do you make them yourself.? I have never come accross them in any spares pages on my regular website shops. Thank you.
As always.. a good enjoyable and informative Video. BTW, have you put a few more pellets thru your Custom HW50 to see if its running in and the power is increasing. Try Some H&N FTT's they work so well in mine. Keep up the good work.
The crosshatching with the 3M pad, is this something you do with all of your air rifles and is this what Jim Maccari recommends? I ask because I'm waiting for some piston seals for my Hatsan 125. Ps, before, the only thing I did was clean out the old lube and put new molly on the piston and piston seal.
I'm not sure what Mr Macarri recommends, but Marc, who comments here often, taught me to use a very fine grade of emery paper. It was my idea to use the scratch pad. I used to molly the seal and piston like you. That works, too. The idea of scratching the cylinder walls is that it provides a place for the molly to cling, creating a film which won't get wiped away.
Not yet, my friend. I'm sure that there will be one eventually. I have my eye out for a well cared for, used 48 in .22 . When I get my hands on one, there will be videos to follow.
@@razor1962 I’m wondering Kevin If you could do a full length video on a repair on a hw break barrel with step by step instructions with close ups from start to finish , that would be perfect 👍🏻 Ty only a request my friend. @wesbodine6102 Welcome aboard, my friend. Have you already got the rifle to refer to, or would you like for me to measure the pin diameter on one of mine?
@@razor1962 No I've had the rifle for over 20 years, it still has the original spring and it's getting tired, next month I'm going to install a Vortek PG4 HO kt in it and I just wondered if you knew what size punch it takes, it's no big deal, I can knock one of the pins out just a little and measure it with my dial calipers👍

Great video Kevin. Looking forward to part two!
Great video. I am envious of your workshop, seems like you have a great shop for working on rifles.
Thanks very much, my friend. It's a modest workshop, but it's adequate for what I do.
This is a great way of learning some tune up techniques.
Thanks, Iwan!

Great and educational videos, that rifle sounds very powerful, unfortunately over here in England we are stuck with the sub 12ftlb.

A beautiful day, for sure. Thanks for watching David.
Can't wait to see the part 2. I have exact the same gun, only thing I did was replace the spring with Vortek tuning kit. the gun is so powerful.
It's a fantastic platform. Dropping a good kit in it is the icing on the cake.
Thanks as always, my friend.
Fear not. Even at twice as long we wouldn't get bored
Thanks Razor

It's basically how we were instructed in the N.R.A. Spring Airgun Repair courses by Randy Bimrose. Simple and it works... 😉👍
Lovely gun but I kinda like a buzz with my springers I am a hw fan I think its part of the charm each to our own

Are the 3 buttons in the Maccari kit?
Macarri sells the buttons, but they are not included with his kits.

Not so good, Ken. I have a very physical job, and I keep aggravating it. I appreciate your asking. It'll get better when things slow down at work.

To be honest. I have no idea. I don't really look at the size. I just grab the punch that's slightly smaller diameter than the pin.
