Great video, as always. The power on the Theobens is adjusted by removing a screw on the rear of the cylinder. ( Exactly the same as you would with a Weihrauch HW90, fitted with the Theoben gas ram system). This gives you access to a small schrader valve. With the correct adapter, you can increase the air pressure in the gas ram with a stirrup pump. Such as one you would use for a pcp air rifle. The gun shop where I work in the UK, is pretty close to the old Theoben factory, & their employees often came in for pellets etc. One told me you could even recharge the gas ram with a bicycle pump, though it’s not something I’ve tried. I use the proper Slim Jim pump myself. Though you should never use a dive bottle, or an electric pcp pump, they deliver far too much pressure for a gas ram. Thanks again for a great video.
maybe a hp bicycle pump thats used for race bike tires could work 10 bar tires , because the low pressure ram is somewhere between 20 to 30 bar filled , a hatsan carnivore 135 gas ram goes up to 160 bar , there you need a pcp hand pump ,because you control the pressure better than filling from a botlle .
Thanks for the video, having owned an eliminator in .20 and .22, rule of thumb is to run them on 2/3 throttle and adjust the pressure with the most accurate pellet. Once you charge up to full pressure on the ram they can become harsh to shoot. You also risk the possibility of burning the piston head out. There are two adaptors for the pump which suite different models of Theobens. If you can acquire a dampa mount that will help the scope stay together. Early units used a bolted on theoben specific dampa . Some later model of theobens had a 11mm grooved action and could use the sportsmatch dampa .Both were made by sportsmatch. Back in the day being local to the factory my wallet was emptied as different models came out.🙂
Excellent information, my friend! Thanks so much. I'm wondering what mount is on my example it's a solid mount, but it's too low based upon the height of the comb of the stock. I'd love to find something as nice only in a "high" configuration. That would make the rifle much more comfortable to shoot. Thanks again for a very informative comment.
Hi, having looked at the rifle on full screen size that looks like the proprietary Theoben dampa mount fitted.(check by applying pressure to the rear of the mount and it should move a smidge as the rubber bushes in the mount compress. Theoben did offer half moon ring inserts and longer top screws at one time. I recall Theoben changed the piston head configuration at one time from poly to o ring to stop poly piston heads being burnt out.@@razor1962

Kevin, I shot one of these that was at full power, at a airgun gathering in Penna. years ago. Was hitting a galvanized garbage can lid at 100 yards. I think with some tweaking, it can be brought up to full power and a better scope setup. Remember, the Webley Patroit was advertised at 775fps, so this should do around 815fps. Hello, and thanks for watching. I need to get my hands on a pump for my Eliminator. It would be very interesting to experiment with different pressure settings.
I ordered my pump kit from Bestfittings in UK. It gives you the flexibility to go up or down in pressure to find a sweet spot. Also, if you do your own work, gives you the flexibility to bleed it all the way down and disassemble to check your crown.
Kevin, the Theoben rifles are excellent the late. John Darling used one plus his HW80 , and they are very accurate and at range even in .25 cal all that is needed is a scope with a verticle reticle with lots of mil-dots to help out the trajectory of .25 , also a lighter pellet will help , nice video Cheers I am in Wales 🇬🇧 UK.

Kevin there is a guy over here in the UK doing replacement mounts for that rail. He is doing mounts for 30mm scopes aswell. He is on Facebook on the theoben site can't remember exactly which site but he is on one of them. They where known for destroying scopes I am pretty sure they used a twin o-ring set up aswell on the piston, it may be down a bit on power the one's I used to use where around the 28ftlb mark and after plinking for a few hour's your arm had a good workout. I don't know if the later one's used the parachute seal or if they where all o-ring setups.
@razor1962 I think yours will have the later piston seal, as it has the better trigger, the earlier one's had a webley type trigger and the later one's had the gamo trigger which was alot better in my opinion.

Had a sirocco classic carbine with a venom short silencer on it,beutifull rifle ,and a hw 90 gas ram and just got a bad lightnig xl se,all seem to have the same firing cycle with the gas ram just have to get used to it 😉
to be honest that rifle is a piece of history there, theoben were in the day the best money could buy in the uk, for springers that is, i would love for you to find a webely patriot to do a good compare , i would rather the 22 in these guns but you get what you get, my friend has a theoben fenman lovely little rifle, you can also get the scirocco as well, look out for these they might become heirlooms.
It looks and sounds like a beast of a rifle! You shoot it well too. I’m not sure I could handle something like that, but it must be nice to have a thumper like that in the collection. Thanks for showing us an interesting rifle!
Hi there i had one of these guns in a 22cal in the 80s i baught the a stirupump and adapter to pump it up. The recoil was so fears it broke every scope put on it and aventuality broke the stock these are great gun and well made i would leave well alone as regards to pumping it up if i had one today i would replace the gas ram with a spring hope this helps you i really do enjoy waching your videos keep up the good work. #mark holmes
Thanks, Mark. You're probably right. I should leave well enough alone. I imagine that lighter pellets will make a difference. I sincerely appreciate your viewership, my friend.
At full pressure, these are circa 35 ft/lbs (although I have heard the sweet spot is 27ish) With the 20 grain pellets, it should be around 850 fps. Seems like most .25 pellets are for PCP now, so finding something a little lighter is challenging.
My Theoben SLR98 was only doing 9.6ftlbs when I got it. Only put 1pump in with a stirrup pump & it went up to 16 ftlbs. Had sit tapping the pin in the middle of the valve to get it back below the UK legal limit of 12 ftlbs. So you don't need much effort to pump it back up to the advertised 28 ftlbs.
Great looking wood. Thanks for shearing again. Hope to see ya next week.Hey Kevin, maybe if you shot a pcp for a few months your arm would be better....j/k...lol... 😍

i think if its a first gen theoben ,its the same as the hw90 , 20 to 30 bar or so , later they added a high pressure gas ram like its common now , because of the asyer cocking little o rings dont now if that type is adjustable like a hatsan ram is , the fac eliminator should be 30 ftlbs or higher . not the most powerful springer anymore ,but a beautiful made gun
@@razor1962I think this is highly likely, and honestly preferred for best characteristics... 🤷🏼♂️ More of a Blessing in disguise. 😉👍 I think pellet selection is the answer ? 🤔
@@marcmyers1465 There's still a lot of pellets to try. I was surprised to see that group. I wasn't shooting that well with it before I turned the camera on.
I think you just need a .25 Webley Patriot... 😊 I wouldn't sweat the velocity. I assure you, you have more than enough energy to lob in sufficient .25 cal. luvvin anywhere on your property with absolute authority ! 😈 Probably deserves a good Sussing out though. 😉👍
Thanks, John. I'm certain that a lighter pellet will bring up the velocity. From what I can gather, the rifle is capable of energies in excess of 30 ft/lbs. Currently, it's at 25. I was expecting it to be more based upon the amount of effort required to cock it. I can't imagine what the cocking effort will be if the pressure in the ram is increased. Thanks as always, my friend.
I think 28 ftlb was the nicest power for these to be and I bet if you use some lighter pellets say 21grain you might hit it. I reckon fat 33ftlb it would eat scopes lol.
I know you seemed disappointed with the pellet speed but the weight of it!!.......... A . 22LR rimfire is only a little heavier at 40 grains and travels at 1000 fps.
I'm not really disappointed. I was more surprised due to the extreme force required to cock the rifle. I was expecting the rifle to be close to its maximum power output, which is in the 30 FPE range. As some have mentioned, a lighter pellet might be the answer. Thanks as always, Mick.
@@razor1962 I've never cocked a gas ram rifle, I've heard it's a different feeling to a spring. In a couple of weeks time I should have an Anshutz 54 or similar, just waiting for my licence to come through 'finally'. Thanks! 25 is still a lot of horsepower. I was told, however, that these guns were capable of well over 30 ft/lbs. I guess I'll enjoy it where it is then. It sure is fun to plink with it. I appreciate your input as always, my friend.
@@razor1962 The cocking effort would be higher as well , you don't want to strain your good arm Kevin too....Rare guns over here too think most went to the usa ,.Only seen the odd one in gunshops racks (usually at inflated price too.) Nice high comb stock on it though, seems more ergononic than the HW90 stock. . If you do have to work on it be carefull when tapping the schrader valve to depressurise it too hard will break the seals, as I found out when working on a pals old battered one, but it was probably due a new valve by then. the piston seal & internals were servicable though after many thousands of shots, they need a tablespoon ful of motor oil in the ram too . Shame your not neaarer i have a spare adapter to repressuris it, you can do it carefully with few pumps of a stirrup pump though.. got it to do that HW90 but fits most later theoben valves too.

I'm a little put off by the limitations resulting from the scope mount myself.
Thanks so much for watching, my friend.
Absolutely! These Theobens are treasures with undeniable quality. I've got my eye out for anything from Theoben.
Thanks so much for watching.
It rang that bell properly👍
Yes, it certainly doesn't disappoint.
Thanks for watching, my friend.
You would have a magnificent career reading audio books. 👍
nice hunk of lead hitting that gong!
I know. You should hear it in person. 🤣🤣🤣
It looks and sounds like a beast of a rifle! You shoot it well too. I’m not sure I could handle something like that, but it must be nice to have a thumper like that in the collection.
Thanks for showing us an interesting rifle!
Thanks as always, my friend.
25 fpe sounds decent for a pellet in this weight class. Nevertheless, we are all looking for more muzzle velocity. Great vid.
Thanks as always, my friend. I finally ordered some lighter pellets for the rifle. It'll be interesting to see how they perform.
Gorgeous gun with some serious power! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching, my friend.
At full pressure, these are circa 35 ft/lbs (although I have heard the sweet spot is 27ish) With the 20 grain pellets, it should be around 850 fps.
Seems like most .25 pellets are for PCP now, so finding something a little lighter is challenging.
Yes, there does seem to be a shortage of lighter weight pellets in .25
Thanks for watching.
Thanks, Mark. Good info. Much appreciated.
@@razor1962SFAIK: You can make a simple shredder valve adapter for a PCP pump. 🤷🏼♂️
EDIT: Schrader Valve ! 🤦🏼♂️
God I hate Spallchuck !!! 🤬
Great looking wood. Thanks for shearing again. Hope to see ya next week.Hey Kevin, maybe if you shot a pcp for a few months your arm would be better....j/k...lol...
😍
Hi John! Say, do you think that I could knock down one of those targets with my new Theoben? 🤣🤣🤣
🤣😅 uummm no... I already had to fix two target pattles from last match... Matter of fact....... I need your video to see who the bad guy is...@@razor1962
If you hit a squirrel in the head with that hammer, it`s gonna rip it right off the limb. A very nice rifle, congrats for finding it!
Thanks, David. They don't call it the Eliminator for nothing....🤣
Great video. Thank you for sharing
Thank you, my friend.
I would be happy with 25
Foot pounds. More than double the allowed power in the UK for non firearms certificate rifles. A lighter pellet might up the fps a little. In any case a lovely looking rifle and nice content as always. My HW 95'is going feel quite sad when I next take it out in comparison
Thanks, Darren. I'm certainly not displeased with the rifle. A lighter pellet may, in fact, up the energy as well. Thanks as always, my friend.
Great shooting, as always.
Thanks Steve!
Nice shooting! Looks like a real nice rifle, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Shane. Thanks so much for watching, my friend.
It's hitting 25 foot pounds. Seems very strong. 🤔Great shooter too! 😎
Oh, it's very powerful. It's capable of more than 30 ft/lbs.
Thanks for watching.
I have been thinking about getting a .25cal Air Rifle.
Not too many choices in.25 cal. springers. I believe that Hatsan offers one.
Evening Buddy!
Hey there Nibs!!!
Good shooting session .😎👍🏻
Thanks, Peter. You can get in some shooting and a workout all at once...
@@razor1962 my Gamo bone collector is like that ! 💪
Hi,someone committed on a weberly patriot.had one 25 years ago,a real cannon of a air gun, right out to 150 m accurate enough to hit a magpie and kill. After 35+ air guns ,seen these for sale a couple of times but never thought the cost and long term parts were cool. I now have a hw 95 for larger pest ,but for accuracy get a fwb601 you can take the eye out of anything, they say only for target work but there’s no pests in my garden or orchard…. And that’s with the factory sight.the old story of accuracy over power…one shot ,you only get…..regards from nz.
Thanks, Ben. You've owned some very nice air rifles. Thanks so much for watching, my friend.
Make sure to try some 25.4's in that rifle. They are a standout in mine and many others' .25 springers.
Thanks, Brian. Will do....
dont now if the rhino pellet is still available in .25 .but that was a 19 grain it was great in a hw 90 and 80 ,and the uk webley patriot
Thanks, Peter. I'll keep an eye out for them.
Mine .22 set at 65bar ram pressure do around 28fpe.
Use theH&N ftt pellets ore jsb 25 gr.
The .25 version runs around 28-30fpe at 65 bar ram pressure.
Its have a schradervalve in back of the action behind a screw.
Im use a pcp pump with adapter to adjust ram pr
I love the content of the video, but damn!!! Gona have to give up the man card If I listen to any more of the background music.
Hey! What's wrong with the music? 😆 It's part of the laid-back vibe on the channel. Most folks seem to enjoy it. Check your man card at the door, please. 🤣 Thanks for watching, my friend.
i think if its a first gen theoben ,its the same as the hw90 , 20 to 30 bar or so , later they added a high pressure gas ram like its common now , because of the asyer cocking little o rings dont now if that type is adjustable like a hatsan ram is , the fac eliminator should be 30 ftlbs or higher . not the most powerful springer anymore ,but a beautiful made gun
That's what I thought, Peter. Still, 25 FPE is still pretty respectable. Overall, it's a very impressive rifle.
Thanks as always, my friend.
@@razor1962I think this is highly likely, and honestly preferred for best characteristics... 🤷🏼♂️
More of a Blessing in disguise. 😉👍
I think pellet selection is the answer ? 🤔
@@marcmyers1465 There's still a lot of pellets to try. I was surprised to see that group. I wasn't shooting that well with it before I turned the camera on.
@@razor1962Very curious what the BC is of those Hunter Extremes at 25 yards ? 🤔 They seem stable. 🤷🏼♂️
I think you just need a .25 Webley Patriot... 😊
I wouldn't sweat the velocity. I assure you, you have more than enough energy to lob in sufficient
.25 cal. luvvin anywhere on your property with absolute authority ! 😈
Probably deserves a good Sussing out though. 😉👍
Almost snatched on up at the show, but it was pretty badly blemished in the grip section.
@@razor1962FTR: At 629 fps. appx. 4 mil dots holdover. 😉 or just down past the tip of the bottom post on the Hammer's slugger. 🤔
There 28 grain pellets and heavy if you use 25.39 grain JSB pellets i bet your FPS will be closer to 700.
No doubt about that, my friend. I'll have to get my hands on some lighter pellets. Thanks for watching!
I will put it through the chrono, be interesting to compare speed and ft pounds of a rimfire. 22 to a powerful air rifle. Always, good to do test ourself isn't it rather than Internet info.
@@mickchaganis6607 Congratulations on the license and the new rifle that are on the way.
That ought to be a rewarding rifle.
@@razor1962 thank you Kevin.
That's about average for the high power theobens Kevin, i prefer the HW90, easier to cock & better trigger.. Bit heavy for my taste though ,
Use a lighter grain pellet!?
Yes, that has been suggested. It certainly won't hurt to try. Thanks for watching, Janes.
