This game got me so optimistic for the PS5's future. And then they closed Japan Studio. Shame how that panned out.

It wasn't a photo realistic third person narrative-driven action game that gives you the answers to a puzzle less than a minute in so they saw no value in keeping that.

Sounds like what happened with the PS3. The only difference was that the Wii was scalped in that generation, rather than every console recently.

I'm getting a PS5 for GTA 6. It has always been tradition since 2001 that I only buy a new console for the next GTA game purely and solely, and then I will come across other games later on to fill out the collection.

In all seriousness, it was a really fun game. Fully utilizes the controller and it's a shame next to no other games do that.
Many, many games do actually. Just not nearly to the extent as Astro's Playroom. Doom Eternal and the new Ratchet and Clank are great examples (but I guess shooters are easy ways to use the trigger effects)
Other games that don't necessarily cater themselves around the tech still gain from using them right.
GT7 on a DualSense is a much more communicative game.

I’ve gotta say, I was surprised by how good this little pack-in game was. It's substantial enough to have some replay value while also being short enough that you can comfortably complete it in one sitting.
One of the cutest, smooth, charming and most fun games I have ever played.
I NEED more of it, my only complaint is that it was too short.
I skipped it for years and just recently played it and I loved it! Just an amazing, cute little game. Definitely too short though! I'd pay for more!

I remember when I finally got mine and saw this already ready on it. Figured "Why not?"
....And then proceeded to have more fun with this little tech demo than the vast majority of the games I got on it even now. And more of a "Whoa" feeling than any of them.
As someone born just a few years before the first Playstation was launched, this was a *massive,* *_massive_* nostalgia hit.
So fucking happy out of all the references Vinny missed and or didn't care about, he noticed Vib Ribbon, literally waited the whole time just to see that part lmao
i must say that SSD stage where you fight a boss in a rocket really took me back to my childhood days on the ps2 screaming at the screen 👍

Ever since I played this back in 2021 I always thought of what it would be like if Nintendo or Microsoft or Valve made a game like this, collecting hardware and consoles and finding specific references
This game was incredible and interesting. Plus I loved how they referenced and/or put easter eggs of Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper and Jak and Daxter!😊❤

This game was actually so fun it was an easy 100% but it was so cool seeing all the old PlayStation consoles and accessories. I think Astro should get his own full game
I don't get why people brag about how many exclusives their favorite console has. Exclusives are good for the developers and VERY good for the publishers, but for consumers they're straight up a bad thing, because if you spent your money on a Clibbadip Dingledang and your favorite publisher signs a deal with Sloppocorp the next day to only publish their games on the Sloppocorp Clambake, you're just fucked. Like yes, competition, I understand- but why would someone be like "ha ha my console has all THESE games that I will probably only ever play maybe 3 of and your console DOESN'T" like it's so fucking childish.

I was always a Nintendo kid. The GameCube was my life as a teen.
Tell me WHY does the PS2 intro give me more nostalgia than every Nintendo console intro combined??
Everyone's nostalgic for the PS2 because it was one of the only consoles in history that had such an over-abundance of quality games that, no matter what your tastes were, you couldn't possibly play the games you wanted to play as quickly as they came out. It was the gamer equivalent of humans discovering oil and suddenly going from groundwater wells and horse-drawn carts to being able to UberEats a smoothie made of fruit from Brazil.
The PS5 is when we run out of oil and have to go back to planting potatoes in burlap sacks and boiling river water over a campfire.

Despite this game being a quirky little tech demo, I absolutely loved it, the neat little references to PlayStations past along with how the controls feel are amazing
Honestly it's my favorite PS5 game by far. Just so damn good and extremely fun if you ever try to speedrun it. You pretty much just exploit the speed that the PS5 can go at and you get see some insane stuff because of it.
Just a shame that nothing else since has really topped this game for me. Maybe FF16 but I keep flipping on it so idk.

Nintendo land was so amazing. The little legend of zelda game. 10/10 very fun and immersive, would play again.

I remember playing around with this game on a PS5 that had been propped up in a store, you know a demo unit and all. I thought it was pretty cute, had a lot of PlayStation references all over the place, and a nice little experience. Not one that's worth 499 dollars to me, but it was quite fun for the 10 minutes I was there. Maybe the PS5 gets some more games soon before it's "obsolete", kind of how it took for the PS3 a while to get more games, as it's three years old already.

A lot of people don't realize that buying a PC powerful enough to run PS5 games like the Spider-Man games and Ratchet and clank rift apart would cost almost twice as much than just buying a PS5 with said games

On that note at the end of the broken PS4 controllers, they're durable, but in my experience they have atleast one button issue over a years use. Replaced one because it had a bad Triangle button and a really bad left stick just to get one with a horrible right trigger

My favorite controller ever has to be the Thrustmaster eSwap for Xbox, the buttons are so clickity i love them, it's so immediate, and it's so easy to fix if the analog stick goes bad

My friend managed to secure a PS5 at retail price during the Great Scalping Wars, and he let me play through the entirety of Astro's Playroom. It was a nice little game going through the history of PlayStation. I'd go as far as to call it Sony's Mario Odyssey. A shame they threw out Japan Studios afterwards. Their games were very fun.
