      @@RJLKMRD True. In that film he was at the high end of the quality performance spectrum. Brett Favre at the other. Another good performance often overlooked is by W. Earl Brown who played Warren. I thought it was so funny when after many years he remembers and blurts out "Beans and franks!"

He always had two voices, one seemingly normal, and another voice which was hypercritical of all the clichés of the entertainment industry, and media in general, almost as skewed as Andy Kaufman, but a little more straightforward and acceptable, not as deceitfully acerbic.

      Jay Leno loves old cars and trucks; he used his comedy skills to pay for that hobby.

    The great thing about early Letterman is the basic cable feel. It hardly seemed like a network show.

      @danmseattle975 4 роки тому

      Yeah, the good old days. I think funny late night TV ended when Craig Ferguson left the airwaves in 2015.
      I mean, I don't like Trump either, but he's pretty much all late night comics talk about now. I think Stephen Colbert is the worst offender because he's obviously more intelligent than Fallon or Corden and should know better. As for Jimmy Kimmel, he's the best at kissing celebrity ass- the worthy successor to Arsenio Hall in that department. Other than that, there's nothing noteworthy about him.
      Nobody on TV takes risks anymore- NOBODY. That's why the networks are losing viewers to HBO and Netflix.

    Letterman on NBC used to have like 2 sort of comedy type things mixed into the show, but that gradually fizzled out and seemed like there was less of it or it was less funny when he was bigtime on CBS.
