Welcome to the Letterman UA-cam Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate - but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era. - Розваги
Every time I've done wrong in life, my standard response is, "I'm on a mission from Dave."
Man, i love Dave
I think these LATE NIGHT shows were taped at 6 or 7 pm earlier that evening, but they have the feel of a show actually performed at 12:30 am in a half empty studio with some of the lighting turned off.
I'm thinking it could have been closer to 5pm at one point. I say this because during some years, they constantly made mention of "Live at 5", a local New York news magazine show that happened to broadcast from just across the hall from Late Night at 30 Rock at the time. During the second custom made show they did, they actually shot tennis balls from a machine at their studio doors for a couple of minutes.
I've always thought the same. The dim lighting gave the show a very 'late night' vibe.
Paul said in one video that without the show, "what do you do at 4PM?" which I assume is rehearsal start time, sounds too early for taping. The dimmed lighting is great, I never really put together how it looks "late", but I noticed it in Jimmy Kimmel Live's setup, because it is a little TOO late-looking and dark for my tastes
This is pretty funny. Also, Chris was very scary during this particular Viewer Mail bit. That psychotic page is dangerous.
Dave with a full head of hair (on his scalp) -- and Paul, too. Almost forgot about that look.
You need to check the airdate - June 19th - to get that first joke.
Don't leave us hanging - what's the punchline?
@@Emophiliac2 He is requesting tickets to the June 13th show, but it’s already June 19th - too late.
@@kstepko Yeah, I got that while watching. Otherwise, why would the audience have laughed?
Thank Merrill Markoe for the combination of weird, crazy and hilarious that this show was.
Viewer Mail night was always my favourite night.
They got the milk in bags joke wrong. The kids should have been drinking out of bottles in paper bags like a bunch of subway winos.
Every time you guys post a video with a celeb's name, I Google them to see if they are OK. It's exhausting!
Same!!!!
June 19th 1983 airdate... now the first joke induces massive laughter from the 2023 audience. Notice no mention of Juneteenth in 1983.
Those. Kids. Are. Nearly. Fifty.
I wouldn’t go that far…I was their age in 1983 and I’m gonna be 45 in a couple of months. “Nearly 50” is 47-49.
Or maybe I’m just rationalizing being an old man.
in their mid 40s. and crazy how time flies!!
@@keefriff99 It's the rationalizing one ...
Mark Flesher was 18 when he wrote that letter
@@keefriff99 You posted that comment 8 months ago, so you are now 45 1/2. You are only 18 months away from being "nearly 50"!
Grew up in Ontario, Canada and milk in bags was what I was raised on.
East coast, New Brunswick. Same! 👍
I was raised on milk bags as well... but that was the pet name my dad had for my Mom.
Plus maple syrup
Bagged milk is an eastern Canada thing
@@rmcrae62 I never said it wasn't.
Only 980? Won’t somebody think of the four children drinking milk from a suitcase …
Date of show has to be wrong...
June 19th 1983 was a Sunday
Yes, it appears to have been a Sunday. I wonder if @DonGiller can shed any light.
RIP Neil
Miss Dave!
Drinking juice from a box? Good heavens!
Those kids need to do a Barbara Gaines show. edited to add "Please"
Circa 1982 I believe
Hi Dave!
@4:32 ,,,,, Artie Fufken!!
Nice hair, Dave.
The red-headed kid looked like Mason Reese... it can't be him, can it?
Meh
