You are welcome. Glad you were able to get it apart and back together. They can be downright fiddly to get back together. The easiest way is to actually lock the shackle in place once you get the throw member back into place.
Thank you for explain how to pull apart a Best padlock. I have about 20 of these old Best padlocks, & now I know how to to strip them right down, to recondition them.
This is good. I have one of these locks and the third plug was coming out and the lock would not lock. I tapped it in to make it work. I had no idea so much was going on inside. Really great to see how it works. I found this video after the newer one. I subscribed.
Great video and very well explained👌 I have one of these locks and wondered if they could be fully disassembled, now I know how to. Thanks for the video and have a great day my friend👍😀✌️
Nice work Rookie. One can also refer to the best service manual. Also when I've had to do this I usually soak it in some sort of oil first. I learned how to do this as I had a building that was a storage unit and they chopped off about 30 of these with bolt cutters in order to empty the lockers. Hated to see them all go to waste so I started experimenting.
Great way to learn! I hate busting up a nice lock.. Funny enough, I'm pretty dam certain I got this lock from you! Cant thank you enough Rob.. Like I said 100s of times, I wouldent be where I am without your help... Really... Thanks....
The only one I have that still has green in the logo, and the keys have big bows that I havent seen before these, so yeah.. It has to be from you! Pretty cool.. Wont be getting rid of that one anytime soon ;)
@@RookieLock I don't know if you have any stores around you that sell models. The little paint bottles under the brand name "testers" has the exact color of green as on the best locks.
Great video, helped out considerably to repair one I had. Just having issues getting the shackle notch reassembled with the plug. Any suggestions? The video cuts away when you are about to tap it in. Thanks!
I can attest to the difficulty, I had to do this without any knowledge on how these locks work a couple years ago, and of course getting the throw member retainer plate back in is always fun.
Brilliant video mate , you've got me interested in buying a few Best locks , but not in a million years would i even attempt to take it apart like you just did , that looked way to hard to try , your making brilliant videos my friend , have a great weekend m8
Thanks Peter! And keep in mind, I made it look easier than it really is because I've done it a few times and it's loosened up quite a bit.. But yeah.. not something I would recommend to do for "fun" Im glad you enjoyed it buddy! Thanks for watchin' and commenting !

Thanks again buddy! I laughed at some of the suggestions.. "screw down the shackle hole" hahaha

Great video, but what if i dont have the control key ?
Then you'd have to pick it, or drill it. You should be able to find videos on both
Thanks.
You bet!
I have lock its hard to press to lock . I spray wd 40 an still no luck any ideas?
Take it apart and clean it.. Inspect it to see if any parts are worn.. Some are just OLD, and dont work that great anymore..
