Crazy to think Sammy Hagar would have been close to 50 at this time and he could still sing and wail amazingly. Just shows you how much his voice has stood the test of time.

I just saw Sammy two weeks ago in Vegas. He's 75 and still sounds great.
Eddie had to love hearing Sammy's hard hitting rhythm guitar behind his leads. What an asset Hagar was to this band.

What dream to be playing lead, while EDDIE VAN HALEN, is playing rhythm Eddie was also had great rhythm , sit down and learn some of Eddie's rythem , he's was just a master at his craft. R.i.p

Eddie van halen is the greatest along with Ritchie blackmore the 2 of tem inspired me to play the guitar since I 12 -13 years old unfortunately Eddie died but his influence on me keeps me going 😊😊❤

Always loved when VH would play this song live. Rare instance of Eddie playing with a rhythm guitar player, so he could noodle and play bits without having to worry about the chords. Then trading off of licks in the solo section was always cool, and they always seemed to just turn the tune into a big jam. Sad to think we haven't seen this in 25 years (since they didn't do it on the 2004 reunion tour).
I think it’s so awesome and cool to see Sammy playing a “Red” Wolfgang guitar. That’s amazing!!
That isn't a Wolfgang, it's the Ernie Ball EVH. It wasn't called the Wolfgang until he went to Peavey

This is one of the best Van Halen songs ever! And, Dave could never have done this song because he can't go back and forth on the guitar with Eddie! Sammy Hagar is one of the coolest people in rock! And he is an outstanding musician!

The only song that Sammy ever played guitar on a Van Halen album was Finish What Ya Started. He and his band The Circle were on Howard Stern and performed the song. With Michael Anthony in The Circle, it sounds just like the original. He was always their great background vocalist. Van Halen didn’t sound the same with Wolfgang on bass guitar. Performing all those David Lee Roth era songs in concert just didn’t sound very good. Plus, Roth was and still is not a very good singer. Michael Anthony was the guy that made the vocals sound sound good during those days.

My favorite Van Halen will always be with DLR but man, this is tight! I was lucky to see them in Lisbon exactly on this tour, they opened for Bon Jovi, if you can imagine that. :|

For me: the BEST live version of the band. Dave may have been a great frontman, but vocally, he can't touch Sammy. Just my opinion.

I’ve been on a VH binge lately and Dave’s problem as a live performer is he was either too drunk or too busy doing somersaults across the stage to do the music any justice. His writing and studio work were amazing, but Sammy seems to take his job as a live performer a lot more seriously than Dave ever did.
For me Sammy’s best studio work with Van Halen came in the form of songs that were more B sides stuff that would never see air play. I always thought most of really popular Van Halen songs of that era were on the cheesy side, but I’m the type who could listen to ‘House of Pain’ over and over again and would be happy if I never heard ‘Jump’ ever again.

You all apparently never seen Van Halen during their early club days with David Lee Roth... They were a real hardcore party hard rock band back then. Unlike what Van Halen became to be with Sammy. Don't get me wrong I'm a big Sammy Hagar fan, as a solo artist and with the band Montrose (heard of that band millennials?). But, the the real Van Halen sound and band chemistry is with David Lee Roth... You snowflakes wouldn't know at all....

This is from the ambulance tour. Ed and Al were hurt. That didn’t help the energy. The notes are all there, but the energy is a little flat. Just my opinion.

Ernie ball probably gave it to him if Eddie didn't. There are many stories of Eddie giving those models to other players that he toured with/admired. Jerry Cantrell, Steve Stevens, and Leslie West come to mind. Anyway...One way or another I'm sure Hagar didn't have to pay for it. Although he could have afforded it. :)
