Maybe I’m reaching here, but this is Van Hagar’s “Fair Warning” album. So dark yet powerful, and EVH’s playing was on top yet again. There was a comment on another video where they say the way albums were made during the entire VH run were heavily influenced by the mood EVH was in at that time. Fair Warning was a good example as Ed was tiring of DLR’s antics and Ted Templeman’s involvement and it showed in the dark overtones and angry feel on that record. Same for Balance, as Ed is dealing with increased tension with Sam and it shows in the album. Anyone notice how many instrumentals were on the track list?
