See how I performed the ZF6 manual transmission swap that makes Duallicorn a one of a kind truck!!!!

  • Manual transmission swap on my 2000 F350 Super Duty 7.3 Powerstroke project build named Duallicorn, a forgotten Lariat LE getting resurrected and brought into the modern era. Duallicorn is an old school luxury truck that has been swapped to a 6 speed manual transmission to match with its 7.3 International diesel and straight axle durability.

    Excellent. Thank you

    Others have made mention of a check engine light coming on due to a coolant sensor. Did you run into this same issue?

      No, because I did not swap the ECU. It works just fine with the automatic ECU because it doesn’t use the third plug from the ECU to the transmission harness. This way you don’t have to locate an ECU from a truck that had all the same options as your receiving truck like cruise control. Everything works! The only thing I don’t know about is if you use a tuner chip like a Hydra if it needs to be for an automatic or manual because of the ECU you are using.

      The other option would be complete engine bay harness swap with the ECU, that’s not for me. ….I’m also not sure if cruise control will self cancel when you push the clutch in or not. I’ll need to check that but I believe it will if you plug in that wiring harness under the dash into the clutch sensor which you won’t be able to do with the heim joint modification to the master cylinder push rod.

      @@kojimaracing7374 Ya those are going to be some of my setbacks. I'll be running a tuner and I'm also using donor truck that is a 2001 and putting it into a 2003 which I know had quite a bit of different wiring changes. I think I'm going to do the full wiring swap as well as the gauge cluster since one is digital and other is analog.

      Yes, I want to put a Hydra on my truck but they go off your ECU code when you order them so I’m going to have to see what I’ll need to do to make it work. I did have a TS 6 position chip and it functioned just fine after the swap but I sold it. The full ECU, cluster, transmission and engine bay harness swap is probably the cleanest route but also most labor intensive.

      Is this a ca truck? Curious about swapping my but I’m in ca and can’t have a check engine light for smog check

    So you can run the same ecu in the truck?

    • @kojimaracing7374
      @kojimaracing7374  9 місяців тому

      Yes, otherwise you have to find an ECU from a same year truck that had all the same options as yours except the transmission….

      I think diesel tech Chattanooga can reprogram a PCM for manual or auto

      @@BrandonLeechYes. However, if you live in California you can not modify or tune your PCM.

    You know, I swear, Ford does the most ass backwards stuff when they manufacture vehicles. I would never have guessed that the physical floor pan was different between the automatic and the manual. I have manual swapped a number of different Vehicles over the years and never run into that. Leave it to Ford I guess. I was hoping to keep my 2008 Cummins swap a manual, but I don't know if I want to go through all that headache

      Yeah, you’d think they’d just make the larger size for everything to streamline manufacturing. Then again, maybe they knew something we didn’t as after 2010 there wasn’t a manual in the lineup anymore and that particular architecture ran from 1999 to 2016. It’s possible that they were going to do away with the manual sooner but caved to consumer pressure…. It’s really not that difficult with a 4” angle grinder with a cut off wheel. Cut the donor truck first and take more material than needed then trim it down as necessary. Then just use it as a template and cut the receiving truck 1.5 to 2 inches inboard….
