    I had my cover removed when I bought a cap for my 2017 Tacoma. I'm selling it and a guy tried fitting it on his 2022 Tacoma and the panel of the cover (near the tailgate) hits the top rail of the bed so it's not flush. I noticed the front panel (near the back window) has an adjust for fit, is the rear panel of the cover adjustable also?

    I see in your comments that this is a factory option however I was quoted a price for the cover by dealer after buying the truck. My question is would I need to drill holes for the clamps and cut the side rails or would the kit include replacement parts?

    • @pentzwerks
      @pentzwerks  4 роки тому +1

      Hello gghostrrider.
      The holes in the bed side are already drill and covered by a factory strip. I would suggest cut your original bed side top rails to save money; or you can sell them after you replace them. I'm not sure about the "kit" depends on what the dealership will do for you. You might have to purchase everything individual. I'm not a dealership so I do not know how they would price this kit or individual parts. Just the single bolt that bolts down the cover on the passenger side was $20 from the dealership when I purchased a replacement.

    • @pentzwerks
      @pentzwerks  4 роки тому

      Hello Nick Lopez.
      The trim piece is the bed side rail top "made of plastic," its show at 3:06. You do need the rail tops but it'd be very nice to have. It is the part that touches the seals on the tonneau cover and make it waterproof from the sides. Let me know if you have any other questions.

      @pentzwerks  4 роки тому +1

      Hello Tyler Santos.
      The best thing for you to do is contact your local Toyota dealership and explain the situation. I would phrase it as something stole all the hardware of your truck; as they will not simple sell you the hardware parts. Make sure you look at the end of the video that shows you everything you need. At the bare minimum you will need the metal brackets; you can buy the bolts separately. And then you also need the middle alignment, then you can cut your plastic rail tops. Let me know if you have any other questions.

      @@dripy9159 The spots that need to be cut are pre-marked on the underside of the bed rail cap. I used a an OLFA knife to cut them, be careful and take your time. Make sure you're using a fresh blade. Keep scoring the plastic till you make it through and keep going along. Use a round file to smooth out the inner corners, that's all there is to it. Some people have used a dremmel to cut the notches, but I prefer the knife method. Takes a lot longer, but you'll get a way cleaner looking cutout. You can buy these pre-cut, but they're a fortune. No drilling is required for the trim pieces. Everything should be pre-drilled from the factory.

    Where did you order this factory Toyota tonneau cover??

    • @pentzwerks
      @pentzwerks  3 роки тому

      Hello Souk Philavanh.
      The factory Toyota Tonneau cover can only be ordered from the factory when you order a new truck. I suggest getting it second hand of Craigslist or eBay, roughly cost you $400-$500 second hand. From the factory it’ll cost you $800-$900.

      Hello pazitos76
      You might be able to convince your local Toyota dealership to sell you the parts kit. It will be expensive, so be prepared to pay a high mark up. I sold my cover last week for $550, so as long as you can get the parts for under $200 you’re still saving money. Best of luck. Please screen shot the parts at the end of the video so you know what you need.

      The Pentz Project yes I already did take a picture of what do I need but also I have to do some modifications since my tacoma is a 2009 and the rail system is different and yes if I can get the parts under $200 still is a good deal thank you for the video it will help me a lot

      The Pentz Project I know it may be a pain but will you be willing to measure how far away are the holes to install the pins? like I say my tacoma is a 2009 so I have to drill the holes to put the strikers but I would like to know where to drill if you can’t. I will understand thank you in advance

They made the factory oem tonneau covers for Toyota but the company went out of business in 2017 or 2018. Not sure which company is now making the oem tonneau covers for Toyota
