I was searching for exactly this as my windshield pump AND my heater mother died simultaneously. How the hell can I find this kind of perfect video for that random edge case 😂 Amazing job explaining
Great videos, thanks. Keeping me motivated to get back on with my 1988 T3. Could you point me in the direction of the wire strippers and the crimping tool you used - I need new as the last I bought just fell apart! Cheers!
Thank you so much for these tutorials, I really appreciate you thorough explanations. I have the later edition heaterbox without the clips. what kind of adhesive do you recommend to rejoin the two pieces please? Many thanks
Hi, I am about to do a fan motor replacement and you have produced a great instructional video. Thank you. I have had dash out before but was wondering can you test the motor without removing the heater box? Reason I ask is that mine does work for 5 to 10 minutes before it blows the fuse, I can speed up the fuse blowing by switching the wipers on because it's the same fuse. This leads me to think it could just be an earthing issue. Not sure how I test it in the box. Any idea's great fully received.
Hi Wayne. Your correct, they are on the same circuit (fuse). Definitely check the dash earths and also all the connections. You could independently test the motor by powering it up via the plug in the back of the fan switch. Pull the plug off and apply voltage to the appropriate terminal to power the fan using a probe. Good luck
I was thinking of upgrading the heater box to a four-lever Vanagon box so the air vents in the doors will provide ventilation to the rear seat of my Doka. Is there anything besides swapping the heater controls and adding the lower section of the heater box with the vent flap that would make this difficult?
Brilliant video thank you. I have a question though, after doing this on my van, my middle heater control is stuck to the left now, it wasn't before and I can't see how to free it. I have the cables in the following order. Top Lever connected to top flap on heater box Middle Lever goes down through transmission tunnel and was not un done. Bottom Lever connected to bottom flat on heater box. Any advice would be most appreciated.
Try moving the levers without any cables attached, they can get stuck sometimes, maybe also double check the cable route, they can get caught up when reinstalling the dash. They have to be free to mive
@@CombeValleyCampers thank you, I will take the dash back out and try again. On a secondary note, what does each Lever do if I need to replace a cable?
Just came upon your chanel and love how thorough the dash removal and fixes videos, cheers! Soon to be doing these jobs on my '85.
Love the detail you put into these videos mate. I try do everything myself on my own t3 so these videos are really helpful. Thanks!
Excellent step by step tutorial. 👏
Your video's are excellent. I have a 84 westy and a 86 sunroof vanagon with a bad front heater, very helpful. Thank You!!!!

I was advised to replace the resistor pack? Did I miss that bit?
Very informative video, can I ask to save on bleeding the coolant can the heater motor be changed in-situ? Splitting the heater box in place?

Thanks for a great video. Kinda stupid question, can you purchase a rebuilt AIR BOX and BLOWER MOTOR with NEW FELT ALL AROUND?
Not that I'm aware of. However if you wanted us to refurb your im sure we could do it
Do you think it's possible to flush the heater matrix without dismantling the dash?
Access is very very tight without the dash removed. You'd save a lot of hassle by removing the main dash board
@@CombeValleyCampers thanks. Actually I'm told from another source you can access the pipes from underneath just behind the fan.
Fantastic and inspiring video but so many ads, very sad.
Not a lot I can do about that im afraid. Its ads or nothing, but we are working on ways to get around these issues.
Step one. Quit and find another job someplace else.
