You took the words right out of my mouth. As for the swap, I usually look down on Porsche swaps because they(mostly 914,944,928) usually involve putting Chevy engines in them. But in this case, it was done right sticking with an engine from the same bloodline. Good job.
I love the 914-6's! it's funny how a little bit of fender flare can make such a difference in terms of appearance. Even if you ignore the cool-factor of having a v-8 in it, this is still a very nice example, I like that hard top too! thanks for posting.
@TESTASPEEDER Yes it was a Flat 8 aircooled, just like the 911 engines. 2 versions, one race for 300hp red and a silver one 260hp for Dr Porsche. The cool thing is that people still like these cars put cars the alwaya come back to life. Thanks
@tomkkkkk Some people just don't like the way the back roof doesn't slope and just stands straight. I've always appreciated the 914...It's actually made in Volkswagen plant, so I wonder sometimes if it was meant to replace the Karmen Ghia...
Just like how Ferrari initially distanced themselves from the Dino, Porsche have done the same. Just like the sky rocketing value of Dinos over the last 20 something years, and them being embraced by Ferrari folk, these cars to are loved and will undergo a similar story. Looks are all personal taste and I love the look of these cars. Done right, like this one they are awesome.
@perrysan1 Well, i Love mercedes AMG, and it's true, the SL 55 Puts out 740Ft/Lbs of torque, but that's a new generation V8. New american V8s are not very torquy, but a 351 cleveland (around 5.7 litres) produced around 600 Ft/lbs of torque in 1971, with little modifications, you could get over 700 out of an iron carburated engine, and not a new generation fuel injected V8, being both about nearly 5.6 litres. And if you don't mind about size, Buick Gs Had some with over 700
I bought my whole 914 for the same amount :) but it Obviously is NOWHERE near as nice as this one. And my father's 928 engines aren't european. What about an audi 4.2l v8?(he also has one of those) :)
Actually my man it's a Porsche V8, and not really big at 4.7 liters. And unlike most American V8s, the use of alloy metals is extensive to keep weight down. While Americans can lay claim to the first V8s, I'm not sure about the "torqueiest" - Mercedes/AMG SL 55 R230 V8 puts out north of 740 ft/lbs of torque. You'd be hard pressed to find those numbers from an American production car you can buy at a dealership with a warranty.
Hazard shift rod placement. Just driveing along and then comes fu#%¤ing speedpump that shifts gear to fifth...... :) Looks nice. Its just my opinion but i would never put heavy v8 to small european sportscar. It just kind of feels so wrong.
Very nice! ...and you kept it Porsche. Thats what I like to see.
I like how they kept the car Porsche ... very cool car
that looks amazing. thanks for uploading
Beautiful! I really like the vents in the front if the rear fenders. I never would have thought of that.
OMG.... that car is breathtaking

Very nice! Great job representing the V8 conversion community!

Properly done
Yeah man...I built one on Forza lol...now I keep watching videos of them DAMNIT I'm getting sucked in!
D-D-D-D-D-Dreeeeeeaaaam car! :D
And affordable too, so that's always a plus. :)
I'd love to put a V8 in my black 914. This is nutsss.
+1 for being smart my friend.

@TESTASPEEDER Hi... do you have some material about that prototye V8?
@tomkkkkk Some people just don't like the way the back roof doesn't slope and just stands straight. I've always appreciated the 914...It's actually made in Volkswagen plant, so I wonder sometimes if it was meant to replace the Karmen Ghia...
COOL
I'm just glad you didn't stick an MOPAR V8 in this beauty!
The Germans do make good stuff.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
oh. thanks!
Much better than a 944
its nice with them big fenders like mine and is that a 944 motor on that?

i never knew the engline was in the middle of the 914 :P
that if fuckin sweet
@quilmes the p911's dont have flat 8's
@LordPS3
The Shift Linkage
it looks like an early 928 engine, 944 engine was 1/2 a 928 engine.

its an acquire taste. really.
drive one, youll fall in love.
i did :/
this must be a 914 with a 928 engine & transaxel
@nitrojoe9 Nah, then it would have run forever and we can't have Porsches doing that! I lov 'em but gawd they have sure produced some crap!

928 v8 is not made in the usa.
Not the best solutions. Giving up too much of the original configuration! pity!
schnickes auto

That shifter linkage would seriously piss me off.. Hit a bump, fuck up the whole assembly, not for me bruh. I'll take a newer transaxle
I like the way you can see it move when it's being used. I think it's fantastic!
ugliest porsche ever.
