- Smashing Pumpkins Live in 4K FULL CONCERT 2022 filmed in Anaheim California
What an amazing show! Billy Corgan and the rest of the band killed it. James, Jimmy and Hooky's son Jack on Bass, it was electric!
Smashing Pumpkins began in Chicago in 1988, with singer/songwriter/guitarist Billy Corgan, guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin as the key members. By the time the group’s 28-song double album “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness” hit it big in 1995, the Pumpkins were well on their way to selling more than 30 million albums, with a handful of memorable singles. The Pumpkins broke up in 2000, but Corgan and Chamberlin launched the short-lived but potent Zwan in 2001. Since Corgan’s poetic, yearning and oft-melancholy songs were always the music’s focal point, he has continued with various projects and the prospect of a reunion was never far away.

Corgan and Chamberlin reunited in 2006 with guitarist Jeff Schroeder. Chamberlin left in ’09, but was back by 2018, with Iha also back in the fold. The band has been producing new work ever since, with “Shining and Oh So Bright” (2018), and “Cyr” (2020) reviving their national profile before the pandemic. Now Smashing Pumpkins is readying “Atum: A Rock Opera in Three Acts,” to be released as a trio of albums released in sequence. The problem for this tour, 32 dates through Nov. 19, was that the first chapter in the "Atum" trilogy won’t be out until Nov. 15. But the setlists on the tour have pretty steadily leaned towards Pumpkins’ favorites from the past, with five cuts from “Mellon Collie” and just four from the forthcoming work, among the 20-song sets they’ve been performing.
Corgan, 55, and the touring band - which includes Schroeder and Iha on guitars, Chamberlin on drums, and touring musicians Jack Bates on bass and Katie Cole on keyboards and backing vocals - began with “Empires” from the forthcoming album, with the serrating guitars framing Corgan’s pointed lyrics. The singer was wearing a black robe that went below his knees, making him look like either an evil monk, or perhaps a vampire ghost - an impression heightened by the black makeup under his eyes. Thunderous drums announced the start of “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” and the crowd reaction to that Smashing Pumpkins nugget was immediate as it became a rowdy singalong.
A bit later, “We Only Come Out At Night” seemed like the quintessential Corgan song, full of yearning and angst and building from a slow beginning to a bust-out chorus and catharsis. The title cut to that 2020 album, “Cyr” bore some fresh synthesizer sounds for added variety as Corgan strode the stage and Cole’s harmonies on the chorus added heft. The band has been doing its cover of the Talking Heads’ “Once in A Lifetime” on the tour and its slower take on it rides throbbing bass and some of Schroeder and Iha’s most brain-curdling guitar lines. But that Gothic take on the old hit didn’t have any of the original’s quirky rhythmic pull and the audience seemed just a bit confused.
The tune called “Eye” was a riddle wrapped in an enigma, to steal a phrase. Corgan sang as lyrics appeared on the screen behind him, phrases like ‘I lie, I repent,’ and then as the midtempo ballad downshifted with the guitars lending a Middle Eastern feel, he concluded by simply stating "Thank you, Boston, from the bottom of our broken hearts.” While everyone was weighing that, the funkier rock sound of “Ava Adore” got matters back on track. But that was also when a trio of ghostly scarecrows were slowly wheeled out onto the back of the stage to overlook the rest of the show.
Billy even brought his kid up so the crowd could sing happy birthday! SO awesome.
A lot of the concerts I attend leave me questioning if I got what I paid for, if my money could have been better spent elsewhere. The “Spirits on Fire” tour is one that in retrospect, I would have happily paid five times the amount to relive the experience. I was taken back to one of the greatest, most influential eras of rock and able to live it through ear-blasting vocals and finger-bleeding guitar solos, but also in the form of grand, soaring melodies and melancholy solos. Jane’s Addiction and The Smashing Pumpkins are getting older with each year. The VIP experience was top notch!

Thanks!!
maybe I am getting older but this concert brought me back to my young-hood, took me my twenties
Going to see them in 16days!!
Went with my wife, it was our first SP concert and definitely won't be our last! Amazing show. They didn't play Disarm or my personal favorite, Mayonaise, but nevertheless was a phenomenal experience and looking forward to seeing them again.
Rock on!
I heard voices in the crowd joking that Billy didn’t have the voice anymore and they then launched into a perfect stand inside your love. Serendipity.
wdym anymore
he's like... had voice?
thanks for recording, feels like being there. They still rock and forever!!! LOVE SP
Love Smashing Pumpkins.. . My fav band of all time!! Thanks for recording ❤️🙌
Our pleasure!
@@LiveRockMusic Saw them recently in Australia. Sooooo good.
I really think Billy is as close to genius as a songwrite and composerr can be.
I just saw them perform in Tampa it was spectacular and it was one of the best live performances I've ever seen in my life
He's literally a certified genius, 200+ iq
This is amazing ! 😍 Takes me right down memory lane !
I just uploaded the Vegas show on my channel go check it out
Billys voice is perfect. Beyond every expectaTion.. i cant believe. Wish i was there. Thanks for this great concert. At leat i have heard and see that one of the best rock band of my generation is doing so well. And billy got little soft. It suits him. Dont get me started about jimmy. You can hear he is just getting better. Jazz druming obviously paid off.
Awesome . Thanks!!!
You're welcome! I just posted Las Vegas check that out too
Going to see them in August!!! Was already excited and this video made me even more excited!!!
Awesome footage. thanks for Posting!
I've been a fan since '92. I've seen SP play 6 times. I've been living in South East Asia since 2015, and it's always great to see these recent performances. makes me miss home (Toronto). Had some buddies that went to the show back home last October and they said it was legendary.
SP will be playing in Australia in March (if i remember the latest tour dates announced). I wish they would play South East Asia again soon. they haven't played anywhere in this region since 2014.
Thanks for filming and uploading. I appreciate you.
My pleasure. I just uploaded Vegas check it out on my channel
I’ll get to see them on August! My all-time favorite band
What a setlist. Love the Machina songs!
When I'm doing something around house at night I usually have a live show on UA-cam playing in the background.
The other day I heard new Pumpkins on the radio...and thought ...I'll play them next.
And right on cue you posted this.
Thanks brother. Appreciate it ..
Funny! I play my channel in the background often while working, it's like my own little personal mix
@@LiveRockMusic
Well I guess this is my new channel to hang with.
Thanks again ..
I of the mourning is a ridiculously good performance here
Oh man i was hoping to hear "Perfect". But this is good.
That was incredible.
it sure was check out my channel I just uploaded Sunday night in Vegas show
Bro this looks really good. I literally feel like i am there. Good filming! I also love the way James tends to sway left and right and mellow out to the strumming. Like he's really diggin' it. I would love to see him play with this Shoegaze band called Westkust. That would be fucking awesome. His energy can blend into any band.
I feel ya hey,I was sussing the audience in the video & your spot on back when I saw them in the 90's the whole place just went right off ay especially the moshpit ,it's these modern kids do everything the soft & unconnected way, can't go 2 to anything without seeing through their phone ive noticed at gigs I've been 2,some of them stand there film it & watch the phone the whole gig, might as well watch a concert at home on youtube or whatever, your comment I could relate 2,peace bro✌️
@@daveeuhus4493 Yeah, i mean...recording is fun and all, but you lose intimacy when doing it. You disconnect from the moment and focus on the phone, i am a victim of it myself. I won't deny. But yeah, it was great filming. Everything clear and nice. I like. Back in the 90s, we didn't have these phones and sources to really record with. Everything had to be bought as a bootleg both video and audio. More audio though, than video. Now? We can create our own bootlegs with our phones. It's crazy. Everything has become way too accessible.
I was there! Awesome show. I want to go to the show in August
I'm a 67 year-old fan of the Pumpkins - they remind me so much of the raw "garage band" sound of my generation when music wasn't just for churning out catchy tunes that were done for making a quick buck and then were forgotten in a couple years like so much of today's dreck. I do feel for ALL musicians in today's world - extremely hard to make a living as a professional musician. I know so many talented artists that can't make a dime thanks the internet and music essentially being free. I guess live performances are only way of making money for a musician now.
going in september🤘🏻cannot wait omg
The people talking throughout entire songs need to stay at home, at least the cell phone people are paying attention
Saw them at Bribie Island last night ... best show ... sounded better than their CD/studio recordings ... awesome band to see live!!!!
Fuuuuuck they sound amazing!
I of the mourning ❤️
Can’t wait to see them on August 5
Same here
I just uploaded the Vegas show if you want to get a sneak preview
GREAT
1:16:28. Absolute nostalgia.
Té repia 😅
They’re coming to an area not to far from me in the summer, I really want to go and I’ve never been to a concert, I think my dad would let me go he likes them too. I got introduced from guitar hero lol, they’re really great so wish me luck guys 😊
Somebody has the setlist 😬?
1979 espetacularrrr
Saw them in Denver once at Tower Records, they did a free in store acoustic set,2001 I think?
Thanks for the recording, Too bad for the voices of the people who don't stop talking throughout the show. Still great concert ! 🖤
Auf jeden Fall Hand gemachte Musik 👍 ich bin im Sommer in Berlin 🙏

That's the Once In a Lifetime cover. awesome !

@@LiveRockMusic cool, thanks!
DESPITE ALL MY RAGE I STILL JUST RATTINNN THE CAAGEEEE
You Rat!
Where's the mosh pit.....? 🎉
All glued on the spot.....😮
Yeah I can't stand all these bands doing these seated venues where you gotta stand in place like a brain dead zombie. I don't care to go to any of my 90's bands shows if this is what it is now and at the insane prices as well. I'll go to a Metal show now instead and I'm not even a a huge Death/Black Metal fan but the energy and freedom to mosh is still there and in my 40's I still need that shit.
Somebody knows Who ll be the drummer during the 2024 tour ? Thanks from à french fan🫶
Jimmy Chamberlin
So I haven't seen the pumpkins since the Melon Collie tour ( when Billy still wrote good songs ) but I am confused with the church choir on stage. Who are all these people? Has Billy lost his chops? He has a stand-in lead player now?
They are back up singers for the new material. Here is a wild concept, maybe listen to the new music and compare and you would get it instead or writing some long winded snarky inquiry that is meant to be more of a dig but just comes off with you looking like an idiot.
Despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage 🧀
Everyone is standing there like they are listening to a sermon. How are they not head banging and dancing??
Probabably because the whole venue is a seating venue. Not much space to move when you have rows of seats everywhere
The original fans are all old now.
At least they turned up
Yes I need à seat now at 64 That s life but rock will never die🤘
Tio fetidoo!!
Man, tempo is a little too fast for my liking.
why is the date of this show???
what is
Nov 16 2022
it is what it is whatever
Nice to see a Band, that is not too "cool" to play their hits!
84 Deep is gonna be great, and when I hear it, I will know My Friend Broke to be part of The Duo of Fun and Son. Godd and God love Chris and The Jinker-Stew Tea Cards! -Lucifer is Sick!
Whats wrong with that crowd look like their frozen in time
Very Sad about his mum and the announcement
Why nobody moves ??? Whyyyy ???
Everyone was just mesmerized I think
worst audience ever
How they all stand there is scary yeah. It can be fun, I guess people are just so used to watch on their phones feeling stuff. I can't really understand why they would see their favorite band and just stand like this. It must be so weird for the musicians, really somehow the Dead.
Seems like billy had a cold.😢
he certainly did. I just load loaded up the show from Las Vegas on my channel. Check it out. He sounds amazing.
How sad to see people who, instead of dancing and going wild, like they did in the old days, film with their smartphones!
People who attended these shows back in the day are in their 50s now. People in their 50s are not dancing and going wild.....
@@timhoran1638 I really think it's the opposite of what you're saying!
People in their 50s have gone wild in the past and still go wild, the younger ones stand with their necks bent forward to look at the smartphone screen and only flick their thumbs!
It is useless to pay for a show of this quality to spend the evening with a samsung between your hands. It doesn’t make anysense and all those idiots shoulbe banned from live performances.
It's a good job they did, else we wouldn't be watching the gig on UA-cam 😅
As you sit here watching such a recording. Don't be a hypocrite. Each person does what they want to do. If it weren't for the people who are recording you would have nothing to watch. So stop complaining about it and enjoy what they're providing to you for free. If you want to rock out get out of here and go to the show. You people would complain about being hung with a golden silk rope.
37:24 "Its like a sea of white dudes" Says the lady behind the camera man in a tone I can't quite figure out if it was disappointment or envy.🤔
She's not wrong lol
@37:23 "It's like a sea of white dudes" lol
Damn it. Should've read the comments before posting the same comment. I just added I couldn't figure out if she's disappointed or envious. 🤔😆
Le chanteur a suivi un régime pâté pendant 4 ans pour préparer ce concert.
What a boring crowd!
I'm glad that Billy is in love and that he has his children bybsea happy, also his family life inspires his art and that's good. but take them to concerts, put them on stage, post so much trash about the happy American family in wrestling...we love the great artist he is but not his father's day photos...from vampire to cheesy!!! !
Sorry but he has always been cheesy
What is going on with that crowd? It’s embarrassing.
Amazing❤ they need to come to ireland 🇮🇪
3arena on 10th June 2024, my friend!
mejor toquen take me down o tales of a scorched earth 🥵🥵🥵🙏🙏
Porque ya cae mal que siempre toquen 1979, eso que
I have absolutely no idea why most people listen to pop "music"
this audience must learn how to rock with latin americans. this is not how a concert of an amazing band like the Smashing Pumpkins should look like. They hardly sing with Billy. What is the problem? language?
The crowd was a little dead first off, plus being that Janes addiction opened and are a local band, there were probably a ton of Janes fans, just guessing though
Yikes, what a comment. No American crowd moves at SP anymore. Gotta go to EU for that
@@CodyChromeBand you are so right...crowds in UK are awesome in concert!
TODA LA RAZÓN que vengan a Sudamérica rápido 😭
In Mexico we go crazy in pretty much any rock concert
i hate the idiot that keeps talking loud at a rock concert. It's the same idiot you see at any concert u go. Just go somewhere else and do your socializing and whatnot, or wait until the concert ends. Dont ruin the experience for others.
Just once I'd love to see somebody, anybody quit worrying about 4K video, and give even 1K audio. Why does no one invest into a decent microphone to go with the video. Instead of using the mic off their phone which sounds horrid like in this case? Instead of wasting your time videoing a concert, put the phone down and enjoy the concert unless you do something about the sound quality. It's music, not a movie. People care how it sounds, not how it looks.
Geez why dont old rockers just stop. They suck bad
Boooo
UGH
Horrible tocar para esos muertos. Pobre Corgan.

@@LiveRockMusic YAYYYYY
hope your momma is proud of you!
Cannot believe these guys are opening up for Green Day this summer. What, was Joan Jett busy, or something? Offspring tied up? Can think of 18 other bands better than this. Like their music, but wow....Poor opening act. This sounds beyond lame.
I thought I would give this band a listen. After listening to the whole show I realised that there was nothing that I would bother to listen to again. Boring generic crap.
Generic 🤣🤣
It's 30 yrs old you 🤡
SMFH
Listen to Gish, an album where not one song from it was played at this show
WISH THEYD PLAY MAYONAISE 😭🩷 going to see them august 16th !!!
