That battle where the Shadows first pull up in force to attack the Narn. Them getting swiftly cut down with small cuts of G'Kar praying frantically, then back to the fleet's annihilation, then repeat. Man I still get goosebumps.
"The Babylon Project was our last, best hope for peace. It failed - 4:42 " I missed the original run of the show, but when my parents bought it on DVD I binge watched the whole thing after school. Even now, over 15 years on, that moment is engrained in my head.
Guys, I feel such gratitude towards anyone who has watched the Babylon 5 soundtrack videos I have uploaded so far... Please, PLEASE try to track down and purchase C. Franke's incredible B5 soundtrack CDs, you'll thank yourself afterwards. He deserves all the credit for his creative work and the income from them. What an amazing talent. Without him, Babylon 5 wouldn't be the same. You KNOW I'm right.
I think what made the series so good is that everyone could identify with each character and see a lil bit of them selves there. So many emotions in the series hit very close to home to so many people. People have problems, have love, have angst, fear, self doubt. It was finally a sci fi that everyone could relate to even if you didnt like sci fi.
Its shocking how accurately i see the scenes before my inner eye just by listen to the music that accompanied it, even after not having watched the series for quite some time. Even if you hadnt watched the series though, just by the different mood and tone of each piece, someone would know exacrly what the scene would be about. Great compositions, no doubt about that
I started to watch this show in the end of last year. Scifi and space opera have always been my favorite genres like Dr Who, Mass Effect, Battlestar Galactica so this series is so much for me. I ended up buying the entire series + the films and the spinoff out of Amazon because this show is so good. I am now near the end of season 4. Frack how intense this show is. Gorram.
You're making me miss this program so much. I never realized how important the *sound* was to Babylon 5. It doesn't sound like any other science-fiction series. Goosebumps.
It was the whole package. The story, the acting, the sound. I cant think of how any of it could be changed for the better. All this time on and B5 is still utterly awesome.
I remember when they released the first cd. It was being played at an old comic store. I kept thinking damn I know this music then I realised what it was I left that store so damn fast they probably thought I stole something. I bought it and for the whole damn day I listened to it over and over I've rarely been that excited about a cd. I will always have the utmost respect for Christopher Franke.
Listening to this in the dark, was absolutely brilliant. At times it was terrifying, at others tragic. And the unpredictability of was probably the most scariest aspect. The sheer GENIUS of Mr Franke. He should have gotten more awards for this masterpiece. A lot more! Thank you for posting.
The soundtrack is absolutely amazing. I bought the CDs back in the day, and they are fabulous. If I have my way (albeit hopefully many years from now...) they'll be playing it in my funeral. Seriously. Epic.
Incredible show and a great soundtrack. Only thing what's weird about this track is that it`s called "Z'ha'dum"...because the music from this piece comes entirely from the second season episodes "The long twilight struggle" and "Confessions & Lamentations".
I ripped the track straight from the CD album called Babylon 5, Vol. 2: Messages from Earth (which I've owned since '98, thank you very much. ^-^). I uploaded the track under its original title according to the CD. :)
The Long Twilight Struggle. The Narn vs. the Shadows at Gorash 7: ua-cam.com/video/G_jTExqG_9M/v-deo.html - now we all know where the Shadows come from. So i thought this was a nice touch.
Yes indeed, have both the "B5" main CDs, the original and the volume 2, just beautiful stuff. Thank you for posting here. I'll have to track down the other releases he's done of B5 music someday. Tremendous stuff.
Totally! It's been described as "A novel for television" The first season I will state: It's boring but very important. Season 2 get's more intense with the main plot just starting to reveal itself. Season 3 you'll be hooked. Get past season 1 and you'll love it. Give it a chance. The graphics may not be the best...but the acting is gold!
Is there a soundtrack for the episode "Ceremonies of Light and Dark? Id'like to find the B5 variant for the music played at the military funeral ceremony for the Earth Force Solders in this episode.
Wouldn't be surprised if they used any late 80s early 90s digital synths and ROMplers like the Kawai K1 or Kawai K4 or Korg Wavestation, in addition to the Roland D-50 or JD-800 for sound.
Jokie155 wrong! The scenes were sent to Christopher Franke and he composed and later played with the Berlin philharmonic orchestra whilst the scenes played on a big screen.
3:47 to 5:54 Still the best part where the assembled Narn fleet is ambushed and destroyed by the Shadows at the devastating "Battle of Gorash 7." Narn Admiral G'Sten: [screams] "PULL BACK!!! PULL BACK!!!!" Narn Cruiser Helmsman: "It's too late!"
hello y have question y have never seen babylon 5 but a friend has been nagging me for weak's to watch it but i want to ask some 1 else for there opinion and now the question is it worth watching
Everybody knew that the Centauri were the Nazi's of the show, destroying G'Kars world because they wanted to and because no one would or could stop them.
@@rosesareredbutzerglingssti9290 I have to disagree. The Expanse reaches and surpasses B5 on a couple of levels. The reality of being in space is a constant stress on the show. you are always in potential danger out there, and that adds something amazing to the show. The acting is also far superior in the Expanse. I think if B5 were made today, by the producers and writers of The Expanse, it would be a magnificent piece of science fiction, but since there seems to be no interest by the studio to remake or license it further for tv, it won't be happening anytime soon.
@@HectorLugo Maybe is better that way -- B5 had so many good actors and actress, some of them lost forever. It would be extremely difficult to find replacements for such talent. The risk of ending with a subpar version of Babylon 5 is too high.

Best show I have ever watched
I walked round my local town at midnight. In the pouring rain with this on headphones and it was just magic .
"You do not understand. But you will."
All right. If that's the trade-off. If you want to withhold your help when the time comes, that's fine. I'll go it alone.
Babylon 5 is one of the best Sci-Fi programs ever produced. It amazes me that quality like this seldom gets the respect it deserves.
Z'ha'dum Just the name gives me chills
The whole show is pure art. I'm sorry to say that but I don't think we'll ever see a show that reaches the same level.

Piękna, wspaniała, cudowna, wyśmienita muzyka :)
i watched it, and cried to the last episode. Because it was the last.
Just going out for a drive......pass the tissues
you can hear the Holst influences. Nicely done.
Best Sf show i have ever seen! And the music is very important and gives body to the series.

i have only seen the first season, but this is to look forward to.
Great music, love it.
1:44-1:50 they should have kept the Battlecrab scream in, it would have fit perfectly.

@isxios The people who downplay B5's part in scifi history... PEASANTS. The opening billowing crescendo is sheer aural orgasm to me.
Yep it was a glorious time.
Epic thinking music. Perfect for writing papers. :)
I know this cut - this is when the Narn ships got blasted by the Shadows.
"Launch energy mines " then they got Sliced up season 2 Ep 2. 23 minute in

I just wish the acting from the hired thugs was as good as the regulars.
Season 1 has also some so good highlights. Next episode for me is "And the Sky full of Starts..." gonna cry and drink whole episode basically.
That's a very food episode. I got the series on Blu Ray even though I also have the DVD tv and film set. @@Deadbeautyqueen
Fantastic 👏 👏 👏
Sheer artistry.
"If you go to Za'Ha'Dum, you will die..." - Kosh
6:00 love that part.
"All life is transitory, a dream. If I don't see you again here, I will see you in a little while, in the place where no Shadows fall."
Просто великолепно :)
Exactly!
The only thing I picture when I hear the first 2 minutes are those Narn Cruisers making their move on Gorash VII.
"If you go to Z'ha'dum, you will die."
Why are you here? Do you have anything to live for?
"Jump! Jump now!

8 years ago Don't you actually mean Fall and "DIE?!"
@chrissju Also they used bits of this music for the Centauri bombardment of the Narn homeworld!
I really love this scene
HAAAAAA!!! That was a good one
super human!!

ok thank you will be making time to give it a watch and thanks for the heads up about season 1 (^_^)
Quite correct.
I have all the CDs :)
9:00, the track for taking down Ulukesh/Evil Kosh.
they cut bits out of the full track to suit their needs. the scenes are wrapped around the music, not the other way around.

5:57 Damn
My favorite song portion is the one that starts at 4:41.
4:41
@isxios You forget, we are 'nerds' and thus due to having a degree of intelligence are considered sub-human.
z'ha'dum is bad mmkay - kosh naranek

Worth watching? - I f you haven't seen Babylon 5 your life is simply incomplete
frightening music for an evil place
2:05 I love this part, when Centauri Republic attack narn home planet
"Do not go to Z'ha'dum" Do you 'member?
Everybody knew that the Centauri were the Nazi's of the show, destroying G'Kars world because they wanted to and because no one would or could stop them.
Who else is here for 4:42?
Babylon 5 is one of the best Sci-Fi programs ever produced. It amazes me that quality like this seldom gets the respect it deserves.
Well, The Expanse also is a good Sci-Fi Tv show, but even being so good, it barely can be compared to B5 in writing and acting.
