I love Lewis! Too adorable and he was the best patient for demos. So sorry he's gone now. I miss seeing him on your videos.. Thank you for what you do, Dr. Jones!
Thank Dr.Jones for your educational informative videos. So hard to find any good Vetranery who can make you understand the problem of your pet and give you a right solution. I always watch your videos and great info.🙏
Very impressed of Dr.Jones recommendations . His advices help my dog with urinary incontinence after neutr surgery , then I was treating my dog for possible parasite infections with Flexi seed and it helped!!!!! so I'm ready proud of dr. Jones videos urinary incontinence
This video confirms for me the advice of a vet I don't know well, who told me the most likely reason my dog was scooting constantly was because her anal gland needs expressing.....and you show us how, besides? You rock, Dr Jones!!! Love your videos!
Our dog scoots on occasion so the Vet told us to buy Baby wipes and baby rash cream. If the dog is seen scooting I put on gloves, wipe her butt then apply the Baby cream. I do this in the evening when she goes to bed. Next day there is no more scooting. Sometimes there is so I do it again. Works very well, grateful for the suggestion. Your video was very informative, good to know what to look for.
tank you for the help! ive been so confused on how to get my dog to stop scooting and everytime he comes in from digging outside he always does this, but im so glad for the help :3
I use Glandex chews which have fibre and probiotics which work really well. My little dog was constantly getting infected glands and expressing seemed to aggravate the problem. Well done to Lewis and you xx
Your dog is so sweet, although his undignified exhibition, he does not mind being poked in front of the camera. :) Lovely creature. I have a Westie like that, she is so patient and makes her vet's job much easier.
I noticed my dog Juno started doing exactly what is described in your video 📹 I took her into her Veterinarian and confirmed that this was infact her issue. She had her gland expressed and now she's good. Thank 🌹 😊 you for your very informative videos 📹
Awesomely handled!! Great service your channel provides, thanks for sharing your knowledge with America, even such a bummer subject like this. Where is your practice? Great vets are difficult to find.
When I was young I was painfully shy. As I entered into college I took a speech class where I learned how to better express myself. Unfortunately, this does not work for dogs. (pause. and snare drums and symbols) Sorry, I just had to put some levity into such an intimate situation about anal gland problems! Thanks Dr Jones, you really are a wonderful source of the BEST info for our pets!!
For dogs born with short tails, like French bulldogs there’s an other possible reason... Some of them has a small space under their tail - in this space there can accumulate stuff, especially fur that isn’t able to get out and shed away normally..... the easiest way to treat it is to try and ‘pluck’ it out... I use a wet wipe and try to pinch the hairs and pull them out and getting it gone to stop The itching.....
Lewis is a trooper, I wish I could kiss his nose. I wonder what he thinks when he sees you setting up your camera, "what's he gonna do to me today???" Lol.
My one dog had this, VET suggested giving unspiced canned pumpkin 🎃 into her diet daily. So far 1 year later, this has worked. I Buy the value brands, size #10 can ~ 6 1/2 lb cans. About 3 cents an OZ. STELLA brand online.

And to @ERIN Jay, you are a jerk for commenting Dr. Jones' voice. He has a very calming voice for the animals he treats. Where does your mean spirit come from?
Negative people who leave condescending comments should have better things to do than trying to make jokes about something that is very important for your dog’s health. So much childish and ignorant immature behavior. I’ve reported people for stuff like that! So those of you who find it funny, beware. Thank you Doctor for your very professional behavior and gentle guidance!
Have you ever heard of a dog licking that area occasionally and at the same time having a new issue with mild panting while sitting? We can't figure it out nor can our vet.
Good video. My dog started butt scooting (sometimes intense with whimpering) the day she returned from grooming. She has been to the same groomer dozens of times without any problems.
Hi doc, can you answer few questions of mine? My dog is scratching the floor with legs during nights vigorously, what may be the reason? And she has swollen mammary milking glands I do t understand is it fine or something. Iam from India I don't have worthy vets around my place please help me
I didn't see this mentioned in the comments. Did you say to use a damp cloth with "soap"? Didn't hear anything said about rinsing the soap off so wouldn't it be that leaving soap on his skin be irritating? Is the procedure the same for cats and other smaller pets?
I had the same question. The pink liquid he used looks like Dexidin 4 detergent. The label on the bottle says to rinse well and pat dry. We use it on our dog's irritated paws.
Thank you for this Doc! I have two white English labs. 1 is 3yo. The other male is 10 months old. We live in michigan right on lake Erie and both dogs scoot! The vet says it could be the type of food we give them, but could ALSO be allergies! How can i differentiate the difference? Plz advise
Hi John. Please check my playlist on allergies. I have made videos discussing environmental and food allergies. You might find them helpful. Also, I'll be having a free webinar tomorrow. Feel free to join! www.thedogsupplement.com/webinar/ - Dr. Jones
I tried the external twice and the internal expression technique and nothing will come out, the glands feel to be the size of a large pea, and my beagle keeps scooting. I feel i am pressing hard enough but afraid to allpy too much pressure and hurt her or even rupture the gland. No signs of infection or swelling in the area. Should I apply more pressure? Could they be blocked glands? Advice please.
What do you do when your dog injures one of his toe nails in front paw all the way back to the paw from digging ? Just leave it alone .. maybe give something for discomfort if he’s limping? Wash it and keep an eye on it. I haven’t found a video on this topic yet. 🙏🐾
I've just read that this beautiful dog has crossed the rainbow bridge. He was an absolute treasure. RIP Lewis.
Thanks Rosa
Nawwww how sad he was a beautiful dog and so patient God bless him
