"Foehn" - Winne Clement- Native Anasazi/Pueblo Flute (modified)

- We went out to record a piece for kaval that day and since we had the set up there I also recorded this short composition I called "Foehn" for Anasazi flute on the side.
℗©Winne Clement
This is my own modified version of one of the earliest Native American flutes ever discovered.
During excavations in a cave in Northeastern Arizona wooden flutes were found believed to have been created between 620 and 670 A.D by the Ancient Poeblans, otherwise known as the Anasazi people.
This original instrument, being the earliest known Native American Flute is a rim blown flute, in my opinion probably played with an oblique embouchure originally. This technique is quite challenging to learn.
I made this easier to play version with a fipple in the back and a offset hole as a thumbhole to make the flute more easy to play and hold.
This new modified version of the old original Native American Anasazi flute makes this amazing instrument more accessible to a wider group of people.
It's amazing how this pentatonic major scale is rooted so deep in our systems, everybody 'get's it'.
This makes it very natural, soothing, consoling , relaxing and easy to enter emotionally.

Astounding as usual! Thank you for bringing such beauty into this world!
oh thanks you, it's my pleasure! Finally decided to start playing more so I hope to share more in the future-
Wow great
So musical, as always. Because all those complicated techniques, are in your comfort zone, I guess. Please keep us delighted like this!
Thank you for your kind words :) yes well when you give something time and attention and repeat them a lot, more uncommon things like circular breathing can become comfortable. That is one of the amazing things of being inside a body that keeps learning and evolving.!
Winne Clement And it’s amazing how it does happen; like riding a bicycle. At once, you brain decides to adopt the thing; what was a sum of efforts, attention and stress, becomes relaxed, natural and unconscious. The shift is almost instant, one morning... and hop! The human is a wonderful machine, and so is the brain. Yet, it does take patience and practice for this momentum to happen. It only happens with a lot of efforts!
I love your soul brother!!!
Really calming. I can travel to an another dimention. Greetings. 👋👍🎶🇭🇺

Awesome as always, Winne!
The last bit reminded me of Bora Dugić - Igra skakavaca (Grasshoppers), be sure to check it out.
Ok thanks , I will check it!
WOW...
This is awesome! I was wondering how sensitive that style of fipple is, seems like you get a lot of dynamic range before it skips up to the next octave, I love how the real upper range has this nasal quality almost like a Ney at times!
Thanks :) the fiplle is slightly working against overblowing, you heard that right! With the right approach you can really explore the dynamics and actually "push" the air column in the first octave. Because of this it has a limited 2 octave range, but you also get these nice textures in the upper notes as you mention.
look like bagpipe technic isn't? beautiful
How do these flutes get that amazing buzzing sound? Like a beehive almost!
Do they have a resonator like a dizi?
Firstly that was so skillfully and beautifully played! This is the second time I’ve seen in a video where you use your leg to bump the bellow and I was just wondering if it would be more comfortable to use the peddle from the kick of a drum kit so you could tap your foot instead of stressing the knee joint. Maybe it’s not uncomfortable at all, but this was just a thought I had.
Anyway, I have so enjoyed listening to your musicianship today and making my own new instrument from pvc from your other video. Thanks!
Thanks! I have tried a pedal as well but it is more tiresome then just moving my leg sideways :))
Omule..ce frumos ....te rog învacema cum se face kaval moldovenesc. ..
thanks! this is not kaval though ;)
Amazing sound! And beautiful melody. Will you post technical drawings for manufacturing one?
Thanks! Technical drawings? No :) Would you ask for the exact recepy of a chocolat cake a pastry chef worked on for years? And would he put it online after spending hours and hours of work? ;-)
@@1fujara 😅 I'd ask the recepy! But without any expectation. I just work as volunteer for so many years, and share all my knowledge for smiles, but know its not really common. You are an excellent musician, keep on the good work!
@@1fujara but i still love to play one like this someday. And a fujara! But it's so hard to get nice things in Brazil... 😪
@@EzequielBaltazar Oh but I believe and endorse sharing and sharing knowledge too, but just at the right time and place, online is a different story :) sometimes people take things for granted too- I don't endorse that ;-)
@@1fujara totally agree!
Beautiful, as usual. Do you have any audio recordings of your performances for sale? I'd buy them right up. :)
Hello, well I would like to assemble and record some for m of a new album, but corona and a good budget are yet in the way of it all, hope to do so in the next years though! I am trying a patreon system to make it work: www.patreon.com/mesmerizingsounds
@@1fujara Perfect. Patreon is a good system for this type of work, imo. I'll definitely support!
if you take requests, could you play and record the theme music to "the good, the bad and the ugly", please. I want to capture it and use it as my phone's ring tone. I prefer quality over substance.
I want to buy this instrument
How much is?
