Do NOT take a drink every time I say canon in this video, that is NOT a good idea! Seriously though, thank you guys for watching and for being patient! I hope this video helps clear up some of the confusion around the canon vs. canon-style discussion, and stay tuned for more Carnivores content coming soon!

Saurian Target can you do a challenge where you choose 1 or 2 dinosaurs and kill every single one on the map you can use radar (pistol and crossbow only)
I found it strange how I was first introduced to the mobile version instead of the computer version. For around a year, I had no clue there even was a computer version lol. Still like the Triceratops more! :) And, wow, your editing has really gotten good! :)
Really? That's awesome to hear! I grew up with Carnivores 2, never even knew what the first Carnivores was, and I still like the Triceratops more as well! Also, thanks for the kind words! I'd hope after this long the editing would have improved a bit. :)
With the consensus-defined exception of New World, I like to use the "Hissing Titanoboa" acronym to define canon- SSSS: Standard - Well made. This is a general rule that is technically subjective but can be judged relative to existing canon. Not very set in stone, as the Triassic Coelophysis is rather awful, but Triassic is still considered canon (though the Coelo is getting a remake). Style - Objects, plants, creatures, etc. are faithful in build, texture, and coloration to established canon. Setting - Takes place on an island/ sector that makes sense. i.e. no brand new dinosaurs inhabiting Delphaeus Hills. This also means that if another canon mod already has the dinosaurs or other animals, they will have to be omitted or renamed to be considered canon. Story- Adds value in some way to the grand scheme of things, or at least has a valid reason for existing. All 8 canon mods in the video follow this principal, as well do other upcoming mods not mentioned.
I don’t get why they are changing the exotic sector skins. I know it will fit in better with the canon style but the entire point of the mod was to explain why cityscape’s dinosaurs weren’t canon style.
0:01- A perfect representation of why you should NEVER put a T. rex in present-day Antarctica. A small percentage of people who visit Antarctica die from frostbite every couple of years. I'm pretty sure a T.rex couldn't handle the freezing temperatures, either. If you want to put a T. rex somewhere after you resurrect them, put them in Flordia. A lot less robbed homes that way. ;P
Now that we're on the topic of canon and canon style, I was never too fond of Jendo's models for Carnivores (Dilopho, Carnotaurus, Iguanodon) Sure, they were well made and animated, and had Burian textures thrown in, but their proportions and aesthetic didn't FEEL like Burian inspired creatures, like how Poharex's and ornithomimid1's creations FEEL like they belong within the carnivore's universe. Even New World, with it's exotic colors and flamboyant theme, still have models that FEEL Burian inspired. By that logic, I don't consider Jendo's creatures (at least those listed) canon or very canon styled. I don't think they're bad, far from, just don't fit so well.
Very interesting thoughts, and I totally see what you mean! Funnily enough, Jendo's models have been pretty divisive within the community, people either really love and cling to them or think they could *really* do with a makeover. There was talk of giving them some new polish, but I'm not sure whatever happened to that discussion.
Your videos deserve more attention The story of Carnivores' life is a lot like the lifespan of Team Fortress 2, in that the original developers made the game and new versions of it later on and then just stopped working on it, leaving the fans to make mods and workshop content for it. However, Carnivores mods are much more well-made than most of TF2's, and TF2's workshop content does eventually make it into the game sometimes.
Thank you for the kind words, much appreciated! I don't know much about the TF2 community, but it definitely sounds like a similar situation! Further proof that passionate fans can outdo game developers with the right mindset. Hopefully Carnivores will eventually make it to Steam to allow more people to experience Carnivores mods.
This sort of discussion reminds me about the status of religious texts when religions are young and green: a lot of debate, as well as the potential for splintering.
I feel like the Gigantoraptor was a nice touch. It sounds cool, and at least one feathered dinosaur isn’t a bad idea, even though it doesn’t flow with the the canon-style models
Well if you count the canon mods as canon, mod creators are actually working on incorporating feathered dinosaurs into the lore, including a new Gigantoraptor that is canon-styled *and* feathered!
Another fantastic video, that really cleared up a lot. Not to mention the re-working going on for the canon series is extremely interesting. Perhaps a sort of "recap" of the Carnivores story as a whole would make for a pretty interesting video!
Hopefully this cleared up quite a bit of confusion lol, Id like to clarify one thing though, this is mostly targeted (no pun intended) towards everyone,The Middle Islands is getting a new name, since the entire story line of MI is getting retconned with a better one. the name isnt too hard to figure out,but the revamp is still in the early stages...also btw, is Migration Canon?
Oh I'm sure it just made everything 10x worse, but at least there's a definitive statement on the subject! Haha and that's right, I didn't include the MI rename here for fear of further confusing everyone, but I kept it in the back of my mind! Also, you know, after all this confusion, I think Migration should be canon. Why not? Hahaha jk
I noticed that you mentioned certain mods like "The Far North" and "New World", yet when I go to look for more information about these it seems that they don't exist, at least not on the Carnivores Saga site. Could you explain or show where you find these mods or if they are even out yet?
New World *is* on the Saga, it's under the name "Carnivores: A New World" under Mod Development. z3.invisionfree.com/The_Carnivores_Saga/index.php?showtopic=5273 Far North isn't there yet, as it's still in early development.
Honestly, this massive change can cause a lot of problems. While I do agree with this change, it leaves alot of things abandoned. The most recent games, for example, are now just abandoned story wise in exchange for the old games. It also doesnt help that all the old main series games and mods of this new official canon are much older than the discreddited mobile ports and reborn, which causes many new people like myself pretty much unable to take part in this main story, as the games are starting to become outdated for the newest machines. Yknow what would probably fix this tho? The official games are split into 2 canons. The official canon (what you brought up in this video) and the unofficial canon (the mobile ports, and it would follow this new more recent accurate paleoartist artstyle) . That way theres a brand new universe that can be explored, with the new dinosaurs and maybe a completely new story (though shares its base with the official story). However...this needs help to actually work. I feel that a perfect mod oppurotunity for a mod is that, when the steam port comes out, to overhaul the older dinosaurs to fit the style of the more accurate paleoartist's style, as well as people exploring this unofficial canon through other mods............ Ok, sorry for the essay, but when you have a massive idea and an hour of doing nothing you do wierd things. What you think Saurian? Im personally hoping the steam port comes out soon, and itll be a massive relief in the carnivores community at this stage.
Great thoughts, thanks for sharing them! In a way, that's kind of what's happened (since this video unintentionally seemed to split people right down the middle), people clinging to either the main canon (what's been detailed in the video) and the, well, secondary canon (the official games). I personally don't feel too bad for abandoning the new games because there's really no story to them anyway, they're basically half-baked DLC packs anyway, but I totally agree, the Steam port's release would help out quite a bit. If it ever comes out, the story mods can be converted to Steam and people who couldn't normally play them will be able to, and if anyone wants to "reboot" the second canon in a Dinosaur Hunter-styled story, they'd be able to do that too. Fingers crossed for that Steam port coming out soon...
Thanks #SaurianTarget for trying to reply to almost every discussion you are clearly a UA-cam who appreciates and loves your subs keep up the good work!
Seeing this video wants me to make a modern Carnivores remake that preserves the original games' canon, style, and modability. I could even do the AI and mapping.
I could write a paragraph on all of the sectors and tours of DinoHunt Corp. Along with the history of the company? I could make it like a story if you want, or add in some of my own things?
Personally, I like both art styles. That Ukrainian(?) artist was clearly talented, and Action Forms chose his art as inspiration for the design of the Carnivores Dinosaurs. Todd Marshall also had a subjectively good mindset, when he was designing the Cityscape Dinosaurs. Now, due to my love for Cityscape, my opinion might be biased...but it's just how I personally feel about both art styles. That's just my personal take on it. I also never thought of all the mods discussed as canon, since we haven't heard Tatem Games officially acknowledge them as such. However, to think all that fauna, living on that planet...sounds very fascinating.
I believe he was Ukrainian, which also makes sense that the Ukrainian Action Forms would select his work for their own. Hey, no shame on biased opinions, we've all got them! Haha I wonder what Mr. Marshall would think of his designs getting their own sector on a dinosaur planet... Well, Tatem rarely acknowledges anything at all, but especially any recognition of the mods that they owe to Dinosaur Hunter mobile being profitable at all. But yeah, it's all a lot of fascinating discussion on how to work in all the fauna and flora of the planet, and it's continuously evolving!
Indeed. As for Todd's current opinion on the design of the Cityscape Dinosaurs...I'm not really sure if it's even a part of his mind anymore, since Sunstorm Interactive shut down and rebranded itself (citing financial and staffing difficulties as the main reasons for shutting down.) Nowadays, Sunstorm Interactive is focusing on the mobile game market. Infogrames Entertainment is currently known as Atari. (Apparently, Infogrames Entertainment was the precursor to Atari. Pretty interesting, don't you think?) Also, I think Todd would've been happy to see his Dinosaurs being in that mod.
I'm liking the idea and hate it at the same time I always thought they would remake all the dinosaurs to look like the new ones But I prefer the new design more than the older ones
They are probably just going to wait until the Steam Port has been completely forgotten by the community, then they'll release it. They always do stuff like that.
The jungle Triassic The middle islands Fallen kings Madness New word And far north... Is your universe The muiltverse theory says there are different timelines think about it when you play carnivores your playing the game BUT... Other players are playing it to SO this means THE GAMES YOU JUST SAID IS YOUR UNIVERSE ITS CRAZY THERE NOT JUST ONE CANNON ON THE PIRATE SHIP THERE ARE MILLIONS It’s crazy right Any ways love your channel keep up the good work
I don't know if it's been pointed out yet but there are actually three species of Coelophysis. Perhaps the traditional WWD one is the Triassic C.bauri, and the feathered one is C.rhodesiensis aka Syntarsus, the first dinosaur considered to be feathered and warm blooded in pop-culture
Syntarsus was actually a big contender for the feathered Coelo for a LONG time. I think there was a two-week discussion on whether or not it should be Syntarsus!
I love both Burian inspired models and anatomically correct models and I believe both the outdated and updated creatures should coexist on the dinosaur planet. Your explanation of this canon vs canon style is extremely confusing to me and I thought that Wastelands was extended canon. I hope you showcase Carnivores Extended Canon mod at some point, maybe you can try to clarify this conflicting topic there as well.
I might showcase the EC mod at some point, but it's a pretty buggy mess. What exactly is confusing you about the topic? I might be able to help explain it one-on-one.
Saurian Target, some of these things I'm about to say are extremely confusing. The models being canon but not canon style and models being canon style but not canon are really confusing because the models both look like they have the same Burian esque texture and little anatomical difference between them. Also, I'm interested to play the EC mod but it's not on the Carnivores Forums. If you have the time, can you send me a download link? And will there be a special video explaining the map of the dinosaur planet and the different sectors and locations featured on that global map?
Im not confused! *Sitting upside down with derped expression playing Carnivores with a NES controller* Everything is fine! But seriously I wish the devs reached out to the fans for help I garentee you the entire Carnivores Saga crew would be all over that so fast like a pack of T-Rexes attacking at once
If its pride the reason they wont ask for help then in my opinion they must be hella confident or they are afraid to ask for help in fears of people getting paid for it or something like that. But knowing all of us would pitch in for free just so we can once again share memories of the thrill of the hunt with generations to come. For this game not to be re-released with mod support is a disservice to hunting fans imo
Can someone give me a hand? When i launch Migration mod, the main volume sound keeps echoing itself. I hope you guys can help me. And Saurian, the video was awesome. Keep it up...
Funny enough. I was first introduced to carnivores with the mobile ports. And I always viewed it as a dinosaur hunting game. I always thought it didn't have a canon story or something like that. Just viewed it as a dinosaur hunting game.
How about having a continuity system (is that how you call it?) similar to Star Wars, with one canon being the Disney Star Wars Canon, while the other being Star Wars Legends. How about this: The Tatem Carnivores Canon and Carnivores Legacies
Saurian, could I have the download links for Carnivores Wastelands and Extended Canon? I've been trying to find them for hours but I cant. Also, I'm looking for some C2 and IA patches. Hit me up if you got em
Like always, You did a great job on this video Saurian target. However, I have some questions. If carnivores + replaces reloaded, then Is the reloaded Tour Still a thing? If it isn't, then does carnotaurus and dilophosaurus Still exist in canon? And are divergent and desperation considered canon? Also, can someone explain to me what is carnivores far North?
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! To answer your questions: The Reloaded tour is no longer a thing. Carnivores Reloaded is being completely rebooted by Carnivores+, but Dilophosaurus and Carnotaurus are still canon, they're just going to be DLC for Carnivores+. As of right now, Divergent is not canon (yet), and Desperation is not canon either. Carnivores Far North is basically going to be Carnivores Ice Age 2, it's being made by the same person who made Carnivores Migration. The Beta 1 is scheduled for a Christmas day release!
well what you consider canon or not isn't the deciding factor in declaring what is canon or not, it's decided by the top and most significant modders in the community.
The only reason I'm giving this video a dislike is because you take your opinion and assert it like it's fact, or more that there is no space for dissenting opinion because you disagree with it. With all due respect, your bit from about 6:00 to 9:00 had me rolling my eyes. I like your content, but you've always been informative and to my ears impartial. It's easy to say "The styles of newer dinosaurs and older dinosaur contrast," and leave it at that, that's not abrasive. Of course you're welcome to ignore this if you like, and if you feel you have to make your ideas of canon gospel, then you're well within your rights to do so.
Fair enough! But as I've stated in plenty of videos before, I am not the final authority on all things Carnivores. I'm just stating what makes sense to me and providing a voice for the community. There's always room for discussion, which is what the comments section is for, and we are having plenty! Hope you'll join in.
Personally, Dzenek is one man who's style is not copyable. I personally don't have any problem with the new styles. Canon and un-canon is a way to divide them. All sorts of good styles will work for me. But they should bring The Triceratops and change the Chasmosaur texture and model. And also re-add the Lazer Rifle.
I also feel like tatem should just go ahead and remake the older models so that further distances them and truly shows that despite the games are using the same name they are completely separate unerverse . Carnivores dinosaur hunter can carry on doing what it's doing and can be the up to date more scientific dinosaur game and we can love that for the nice graphics up to date models the amazing night time mode and other things while the original games can finally be left to us who truly care about the original style of the games and can expand the story and stop the clashing of styles.
Honestly, at this point, I'd be fine with that: Tatem just owning up and further separating their timeline from the original. The only problem with that is that Tatem just doesn't care about Carnivores, so there's no way they'd put in the time and effort to redo the original models. The biggest reason I wanted the Steam port to come out was for the mod converter, which would allow us to port the mods created (like Triassic) over to Steam with the new graphics, but at this point, it looks like they've even discontinued work on that too.
Saurian Target its a mess honestly but atleast we have a great community working on the canon and I feel the mods have come a long way some of the animations I have seen look so so so good and with all the work going on its a real exciting time to be a part of it all. In the future when it's all calmed down it will be interesting to look back and say where were you? During the epic cannon vs non cannon wars of 2017 haha
Great video saurian really clears up the extended canon I completely agree with you on it. I just hate how we have now got the clashing styles it really makes it hard to feel immersed in the dinosaur world when you have huge reptile like monsters inspired by how we used to view dinosaurs mixing in with these newer more accurate designs. Don't get me wrong I love the new designs they look and act great in some ways they are much better than the old designs I love how the celophisous hunt in packs and move so realisticly .... But then our huge hulking Trex wonders past and your there thinking how can they look so different? So I feel it is definitely best to keep them separate.... Man all of this can give you serious headaches
And damn I can not wait play mandibles and carnivores + po ho rexes work really is high quality and Imo should be the standard for the extended canon mods his work just fits so well with the original games tatem could learn a thing or two.
Glad you liked the video! And I agree, it is very conflicting and confusing, hopefully I didn't make things *too* much worse. Haha and yeah, P.Rex's mods are pretty much the standard to which all mods are held. A *very* high standard indeed!
I think it would be best for everyone if we all agreed that there is no 'true' canon, instead there should be multiple canons in the Carnivores universe similar to Dragonball Z. Each game whether it be official or fan made, fits into its own respective continuum or dimension without the need to label one particular story as being more accurate than another. Otherwise everyone would simply be following their individual opinion on what constitutes as canon and then we get debates as to what has occurred and what doesn't occur, its truly not worth the headache.
In a way, that's ultimately what it is. There's no Velociraptor hit squad that's going to come knocking down your door if you don't accept certain games/mods as canon. If you only want to count the official games as canon, that's fine (although I'd argue you picked the most boring of the timelines to count as legitimate, if so).
Saurian Target I won't say that's entirely wrong, I have played Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter & Ice Age on the PSP port and they're pretty underwhelming in comparison to the IOS or Android ports. Your overall range of vision is VERY limited to the point in which you cannot look entirely down or entirely up as well as the fact that the turning function with a flat joystick is nowhere near as fluid as with a mouse or tablet, then you got to worry about carnivores being able to follow you up mountain paths which they weren't able to do in the PC games. An ironic thing about the PSP port is that hunting rexes becomes incredibly easy, I was able to clear Delphaeus Hills in one playthrough partly due in fact that the rexes do not immediately charge you after shooting them. To sum it up, hunting an Allo or especially a Spino in the PSP port is more difficult than hunting a Rex so it ends up being a rather dissatisfying change.
I know this is the unpopular opinion, but I still accept Tatem's animals as canon. I feel that even if the developers don't care about the game much, it's still an official Carnivores game. Also, although the designs are more accurate and don't fit the designs of the original games, neither do the Cityscape animals, of the Chasmosaurus from what people mostly accept as canon games. And I disagree with the argument of different developers, as Cityscape was made with some different developers. Although I do think that the DH animals need a re-work to make them look a bit nicer.
And that's totally fine! If you want to see the Ice Age mobile animals as your own canon, go for it. I think people took my explanation of "This is what I consider canon and why I consider it so" and took it as "You must accept mods as canon or else." Although, I do find it kind of funny that we still call them "Tatem's animals" and treat CDH as an actual separate game. They just outsourced some modelers to make some DLC animals for Carnivores 2. Are people actually using different developers as an excuse for the Cityscape animals? I haven't seen that yet.
Saurian Target I haven't seen anybody doing it, but they've done it for DH, so I find it unfair that they would do it for one game and not another, when they did basically the same thing. I mean, DH was a bit worse, but I can easily imagine DH animals in Cityscape. In fact, I can imagine that working quite well, if only to fill the tiny dinosaur roster of Cityscape.
Creators always have a final say in what can be considered canon. Just because you don´t consider something canon doesn´t mean that it isn´t. In the end, what the devs include in the games IS canon, whether they fit the original style or not, whether you like it or not. It is fine to consider something non-canon for yourself is fine but stating that the mobile ports are not canon is just blatantly not true. Those models were created by the actual creators of the game and are as such part of the official canon.
The Carnivores community, who cares **far** more about Carnivores than the *absolutely disgraceful* Tatem ever did have decided together that they aren't canon for the reasons Saurian described, so yes, we can say it's not canon.
bartbrink1996 To expand upon what Dawn said, saying that the mobile ports are canon is like saying Reborn is canon. Reborn is abandoned now, and it seems that the mobile ports are too. The modding community is still alive though. Tatem is a disgrace to the Carnivores community at this point. Sure, they've helped to keep the series alive with new dinosaurs being added to a Dinosaur Hunter, but they completely ignore the original canon style. They also don't seem to care about their fans much. Just look at the CDH steam page, it's dead because Tatem hasn't kept us updated on stuff, that's because they don't give a shit about the fans.
The Fan Canon is honestly all that really exists. Tatem obviously doesn't care about the style or Story of Carnivores in the slightest and just want money from annoying children who whine about Spinosaurus being too small or the *alien dinosaurs* not looking like real ones.
Love your channel. But saying that when people say that the new dinos are better because they look and cooler, better and more correct that it's a bad reason. That's pretty dumb. What makes the old dinos better besides being the original, they're old fashioned. That's all you can really say. If those Dinos didn't have the advantage of being classic, they would have no reason to be better then the new dinos.
It's not that either dinosaur design is better. They're both great in their own ways, it's that one was set up as the standard for how animals look. Just like the Dinosaur Revolution/King Kong example I used. Neither is better than the other, they just don't make sense together.
Saurian Target They don't make sense because you'd got use to having old dinos in that film. Same thing if you made a realistic documentary on dinosaurs, it would be weird to have a outdated design. The question is, if you put both designs against with each other, with no bias from the old design being the original design, which one would look cooler?
Saurian Target Even though I grew up with Carnivores on UA-cam and the apps. I played the game before the new dinos existed so I have some connection with the old dinos and I'll be honest, although I like the stylistic and cool looking new dinos and I love some good and correct looking dinosaurs, I think having those dinos match the old dinos would be nice maybe even better.
I played these games since they came out when I was a teenager. I like your videos . They are very well done. I know I'm around 3 years late to the party for this video. Now the part about the way the dinosaurs look, I half agree with you & half disagree with you. I agree some what because well like you said the established canon. And scientifically in world these are aliens dinosaurs. So they don't have to be 100% like Earths dinosaurs. So for canon I say don't change existing dinosaurs color schemes. But new ones that's were they can be brighter colors if you want (just no weird glowing dinos). And that is accurate rather you like it or not, look at real world earth life, it's the verse and you have brightly colored animals along with Earth toned colored animals. So that's were I disagree with you. It's not disrespectful, it's more realistic if they had both. Also the Spinosaurus I think they should keep the old sized one & add a correct sized one with proper behavior, like not moving at super speed or leaping when they are big. In game story it would be simple to establish the small one's are adolescent or young adults.
Thanks for the comment and feedback, I always appreciate it. I would like to clarify (because I often get misinterpreted in this way) that canon-style dinosaurs don't necessarily mean they are brown and green and boring. I'm all for brightly colored dinosaurs in Carnivores, lots of canon-style mods have bright dinosaurs that are red, purple, blue, and lots of other colors with many interesting visual patterns. My gripe with the mobile dinosaurs has more to do with their body structure and artistic textures than anything else, but the mobile ports have since updated to remedy a lot of those issues I had with them. Thanks again for the thoughts. Have a good one!
how bout say that the ceolophysis in dinosaur hunter as an invasive species that cross in to the central sector because of the gojirasuarus incident and have evovled into a pack hunter and elongated mouth the reason why it just looks like the triassic ceolophysis so there just stick the mobile ceolophysis in the triassic sector there the ceolophysis problem is solved
I understand way everyone feels that way, so do i, but yall cant just say mobile is no longer canon, thats not how that works, when it comes to the extended canon, being the mods, obviously mobile is no longer canon, but they are canon to the official games, including the original trilogy, we didn't make those, the official developers did
Wouldn't a fan-generated kind of idea that's commonly accepted as canon, instead be refereed to as, FANON? :u Also I gotta say - the controversy regarding the big spino makes sense I guess, but honestly I think sometimes some diversion from the source material can be a good thing. I think it's reasonable that they made the spino appropriately sized in the mobile version of the game because that's a very large issue. The problem is, our idea of what the dinosaur even looked like has, in recent years, been proven very very wrong. That's a controversy outside of Carnivores all together, and personally, as much as I love the classical Jurassic Park Spino design, I've grown to really appreciate what these animals apparently used to look like, for real ( cdn.sci-news.com/images/enlarge/image_2146e-Spinosaurus-aegyptiacus.jpg ) . With that said, I think what we really need is an extended canon mod that tries to blend the best of both worlds by accepting the scientific flaws of the original art style but also adding in more accurate dinosaurs into the mix as different species - or vice-versa, take the inaccurate dinos from Carnivores and correct the mistake by inventing a fictional name for them that's different from the animal they falsely tried to be, but still have them exist, and then bring in the new, more accurate designs as "the real" version of the animal. For example, keep the old design of the spino as it is now in Carnivores with its weird plushy, fatty face, and have it be considered some kind of relative to this guy ( pre00.deviantart.net/6c0d/th/pre/i/2014/151/d/5/spinosaurus__male__by_herschel_hoffmeyer-d7kjfnu.png ) , a more crocodile and evil looking dino inspired more by Jurassic Park, and then bring in this guy ( pre06.deviantart.net/378e/th/pre/i/2015/098/9/7/spinosaurus_by_robertfabiani-d8ow9mu.jpg ) as a true spino. That way, it expands the lore without hurting the designs we've grown to love, it gives more depth to these animals, and it immerses the player by making it feel as if the world really does have so much more to explore. I mean look at the real world - we only know of a very SMALL fraction of all of the dinosaurs we suspect used to live, we're still discovering new ones and there's surely a lot we will never ever know existed. So really, there's so much room for creativity, it's almost endless. You can have the best of both worlds by making a game that blends fun inaccuracies with scientific accuracy, by just having them be different animals who happen to look similar. The oddly fat Tricerotops of Carnivores 1 could simply become some other fictional kind of dinosaur that's related to the Chasmosaurous of Carnivores 2 which could then be renamed to the Tricerotops because of what it clearly was made to look like, then you can just replace the Chammy with a more accurate version of *that* animal so you fix both problems at once without getting rid of either animal. But this is all a discussion about design, not art style. If we wanted more wild and vibrant dinosaur art styles in somehow but still have them be canon, we could also try adding some more science fiction into the mix by just saying dinohunt corp started experimenting with dinosaurs to make new and exciting breeds to hunt, perhaps even purposefully making them more brightly colored. This could also be used to explain away scientific inaccuracies.
Technically, it could! But in a series that's pretty much abandonware where the fanon is the only canon that's being worked on, why not just call it canon?
Personally I don't have a problem with the dinosaur hunter creatures. They don't really stand out much. Yeah their models look newer but they still look...retro and fit in imo

So why is migration not a Canon mod? Just curious. It's one of my favorite mods
Same
I found out the same way how you found out this media..........
Same
Sector is canon.
NOT CANNON NOT CANNON!
Your Star Wars Battlefront meme is acknowledged and appreciated.
With the consensus-defined exception of New World, I like to use the "Hissing Titanoboa" acronym to define canon- SSSS:
Standard - Well made.
Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter doesn't really follow any of these rules.
A lot less robbed homes that way. ;P
Can't rob homes if all robbers are dead.
with some civilian causalities
Now that we're on the topic of canon and canon style, I was never too fond of Jendo's models for Carnivores (Dilopho, Carnotaurus, Iguanodon)
Sure, they were well made and animated, and had Burian textures thrown in, but their proportions and aesthetic didn't FEEL like Burian inspired creatures, like how Poharex's and ornithomimid1's creations FEEL like they belong within the carnivore's universe.
7:03 they actually stick out like a SAURIAN thumb
*ba-dum pshhh*
Saurian Target thank you, thank you I'll be here all night!
Your videos deserve more attention
The story of Carnivores' life is a lot like the lifespan of Team Fortress 2, in that the original developers made the game and new versions of it later on and then just stopped working on it, leaving the fans to make mods and workshop content for it.
That hat trick it was amazing A TRIPLE UPLOAD
This sort of discussion reminds me about the status of religious texts when religions are young and green: a lot of debate, as well as the potential for splintering.
That's sort of how it feels sometimes!
You’re not wrong.
Glad you thought so! There will definitely be a story recap video once there are more assets to work with!
Rip new world
Mandibles is coming out soon right and 3 vids in a day this is heaven
Thank you! It's a little strenuous trying to get to everyone, but I'm trying my best! Thanks for watching! :)
Seeing this video wants me to make a modern Carnivores remake that preserves the original games' canon, style, and modability. I could even do the AI and mapping.
Awesome That would be pretty awesome
So many Saurian videos! I can barely keep up!
Gotta keep you on your toes!
So pretty much all we need is like 5 active star wars fans and then we can change the continuity
I don't have a problem with the carnivores Ice Age but the dinosaur hunter just frustrates me
It is a little frustrating!
Which one?
MonStarDrakoSaur 9000 the mobile ones, I guess
2 vids in one day amazing!
Yes I love this video spam spree, your back in business Saurian!
I could write a paragraph on all of the sectors and tours of DinoHunt Corp. Along with the history of the company? I could make it like a story if you want, or add in some of my own things?
That'd be awesome!
Saurian Target it’s a real Ukraine. Game from Ukraine, company Totem Games and Akella)
I'm liking the idea and hate it at the same time
I always thought they would remake all the dinosaurs to look like the new ones
But I prefer the new design more than the older ones
3:36 a T. rex 🦖
This may not be related to the video (nice vid as always btw) but does anyone know what's up with the carnivores steam port?
DERPOSAUR 368 yeah i know right, kinda bummed out by it
Tatem has always been pretty slow so it is no surprise there hasn´t been any news about it for a long time.
They are probably just going to wait until the Steam Port has been completely forgotten by the community, then they'll release it. They always do stuff like that.
I was wondering about that too
@@lisa-lr8dh have you noticed that they never respond to the deonation people? I think they just don't wanna do it, and there's already a year
The jungle
Triassic
The middle islands
Fallen kings
Madness
New word
And far north...
Is your universe
The muiltverse theory says there are different timelines think about it when you play carnivores your playing the game BUT... Other players are playing it to SO this means THE GAMES YOU JUST SAID IS YOUR UNIVERSE ITS CRAZY THERE NOT JUST ONE CANNON ON THE PIRATE SHIP THERE ARE MILLIONS
It’s crazy right
Any ways love your channel keep up the good work
Whoo, best to not think about that one... at all...
Haha thank you for the kind words! :)
I'm glade to be back into Carnivores! Also what is the outro music you use S. Target? It sounds amazing!
Glad to have you back! The outro music I use is the Trophy Room theme from Carnivores HD, it's probably my favorite track from the reboots!
Thank you.
8:43 AMOGUS
I don't know if it's been pointed out yet but there are actually three species of Coelophysis. Perhaps the traditional WWD one is the Triassic C.bauri, and the feathered one is C.rhodesiensis aka Syntarsus, the first dinosaur considered to be feathered and warm blooded in pop-culture
Syntarsus was actually a big contender for the feathered Coelo for a LONG time. I think there was a two-week discussion on whether or not it should be Syntarsus!
Saurian Target Oh right! I wonder though, has the community considered the possibility of multiple species belonging to the same genus?
Wait a minute, CoelophySUS?
A M O G U S
So many uploads.... This is amazing. Greet as always Soron Traget
also, If you don't mind me asking, what mod is next in the showcase series?
I believe at the end of the Migration showcase, Modern Days was confirmed to be next.
Modern Days is indeed the next one up!
I know! We've got a goldmine of ideas and assets available but, for some reason, they're intent on just moping along at a snail's pace.
Saurian where is the mandibles review is it in the works yet or has it gone unnoticed by me
It's waiting in the wings! Mandibles isn't finished yet, so there's no point in reviewing it early!
I have a question. Is there any particular order that the extended canon mods go in?
Funny enough. I was first introduced to carnivores with the mobile ports. And I always viewed it as a dinosaur hunting game. I always thought it didn't have a canon story or something like that. Just viewed it as a dinosaur hunting game.
The series has been around for a long time! Haha
Do the new mobile skins make Dinosaur Hunter and Ice Age on mobile canon again?
I'd recommend checking these videos out for a better explanation:
ua-cam.com/video/wGsKs0gtF24/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/fJsRkUkyt1Q/v-deo.html
SInce its abandonware that the original company doesn't care about, I guess it makes sense that the canon is determined by fans.
How about having a continuity system (is that how you call it?) similar to Star Wars, with one canon being the Disney Star Wars Canon, while the other being Star Wars Legends. How about this: The Tatem Carnivores Canon and Carnivores Legacies
But what happens when the steam version gets released?
I think "if the Steam version gets released" is a better question to ask.
Saurian Target sad but true
Me : Carnivores Migration is not canon? NOOOOOO....
Saurian : Look kid , im not the final authority of all things Carnivores.
Saurian, could I have the download links for Carnivores Wastelands and Extended Canon? I've been trying to find them for hours but I cant. Also, I'm looking for some C2 and IA patches. Hit me up if you got em
Have you checked the Saga forums? Most of the available mods (and patches) should be on there.
I know they’re there, I just don’t know how to navigate forums since it’s the only one I’ve used so far.
Like always, You did a great job on this video Saurian target. However, I have some questions. If carnivores + replaces reloaded, then
Is the reloaded Tour Still a thing?
Saurian Target thanks! That really helped me!
If you don't mind me asking who decides all this stuff
Pretty much a group of the most active/significant modders and members of the community.
People like Me (Lucy), P.Rex, Ophie, and Saurian, as FishTank said.
Dawn C. Alrighty then but I personally still concider the dinosaur hunter as Canon
well what you consider canon or not isn't the deciding factor in declaring what is canon or not, it's decided by the top and most significant modders in the community.
Also does anyone know how I can add my own sounds to dinosaurs in the mods? I can't find a tutorial on here and I'm new to pc gaming
Does carnivores + has the scary cactus
I believe so!
Rip the chances of me playing +
Why was abandoned islands decided as not cannon?
ThePaleoBro probably because that giant Pterodactyl dragon thing
The mod’s creator revoked its canon status due to its quality.
Poharex So is it not canon for good or is it going to be reworked to fit the new canon?
That's up to Keegan. I think he decided to shelf it for good though.
Poharex That's a shame, I really liked that mod
I wish that they would replace Chasmosaurus with Triceratops in the mobile version and give it the Chasmosaurus call
I had a design for a charles r knight styled carnivores mod
Jochem Witteveen I’ve already designed some Knight-style animals. You might see more in the future.
Poharex cool!!!
Watch out for the compy conga
0:20 What The Heck Is That!?
That be Scutosaurus, a new DLC animal for Carnivores Triassic!

what mod is that?
The first one is Fallen Kings, the second one is A New World!
Is carnivores still gonna be on steam?
I hope so! But I'm not sure...
Don’t hold your breath, Tatem clearly doesn’t care enough about this franchise.
Zarspook probably not
What is a For North? This is a new Ice Age?)
It is. I have it scheduled for a Beta 1 Release on Christmas Day of 2017.
The name of mod with giant bugs ?
ahmad bassam Mandibles
Jvirus2351 do have link for it ?
ahmad bassam just go into the mod development section of the carnivores saga forms, its right up top
when you say canon i will take a shot...................of water
Now THAT"S a healthy drinking game!
So if Dinosaur Hunter is no longer canon, what happens to Utahraptor and Gigantoraptor?
They're being redesigned to look better!
Saurian Target I'm just hoping they'll remain as dangerous as they are.
* when you just want scientifically accurate dinos * QwQ
Yeah we don’t do a lot of that in Carnivores haha
🎶Hello Cityscape my friend,
I've come to hunt with you again🎶
Can i get a link to the Discord?
Then Saurian should use fan canon and canon. You like it or not, mobile ports are canon and triassic mod is not.
The Fan Canon is honestly all that really exists. Tatem obviously doesn't care about the style or Story of Carnivores in the slightest and just want money from annoying children who whine about Spinosaurus being too small or the *alien dinosaurs* not looking like real ones.
You're right
COELOPHYSUS! SUS! SUS!
Three videos !!!!!
Well, that's just the issue, because you can't definitively state what is "cooler," that's completely subjective and dependent on the individual.
Saurian Target Fair enough.
Burian is Czech iirc
how bout say that the ceolophysis in dinosaur hunter as an invasive species that cross in to the central sector because of the gojirasuarus incident and have evovled into a pack hunter and elongated mouth the reason why it just looks like the triassic ceolophysis so there just stick the mobile ceolophysis in the triassic sector there the ceolophysis problem is solved
nice video
Thank you!

Take a shot every time he says canon
I understand way everyone feels that way, so do i, but yall cant just say mobile is no longer canon, thats not how that works, when it comes to the extended canon, being the mods, obviously mobile is no longer canon, but they are canon to the official games, including the original trilogy, we didn't make those, the official developers did
They fixed it in the mobile version
0:29 canon is cannon 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
5:28 what mod is that??
HyperSpeed Probably the Extended Canon mod
It is indeed the Extended Canon mod.
Queda mejor el obirraptor del carnivores cityscape y no el de carnivored dinosaur Hunter
Thanks for letting us know friend, now I know what to classify my Mod as, Canon-Style.
old world dinosaurs ha that's what I call Them
Did you know Cityscape is cannon *Shoots himself cause he felt like a hypocrite* JK LOL
Wouldn't a fan-generated kind of idea that's commonly accepted as canon, instead be refereed to as, FANON? :u
Also I gotta say - the controversy regarding the big spino makes sense I guess, but honestly I think sometimes some diversion from the source material can be a good thing.
I'm even more confused
I was afraid that might be the case. Haha
Anything I can help clear up?
Canon not Cannon
Lol I feel ashamed of myself because I play the mobile ports

Yup totally! Carnivores Migration isn't cannon right! Heh heh uhhhhhhh
Indeed, it is not.
Shh... don't tell anyone...
Personally I don't have a problem with the dinosaur hunter creatures. They don't really stand out much. Yeah their models look newer but they still look...retro and fit in imo
