  • My old FujiFilm GX680 Medium format electronic camera's battery is dead(!) and so old it's really hard to find a replacement. SO, I Dremel'd the old battery case (carefully!) and took the old "base plate" off and made a battery holder for 6 AA batteries or rechargeable batteries.
    Works a treat and easy to replace the batteries when needed.
    I am making a plastic cover for the adaptor at the moment to cover up the plug but works fine as it is. The battery is 7.2v and about 700mAh.
    There is a company online (many actually) that sell effectively what I did;
    www.ebay.co.uk... (for example).
    These are about £50 ($65). But as I had the electronics and a Dremel I would do it myself. There are a few captcha's and if you try this and have problems - leave me a comment.
    As usual I am doing this so that you can see what I do. I do not recommend attacking your battery pack with a Dremel! - I do it - but that is up to my own safety. You should NEVER puncture a rechargeable battery under any circumstances as it is VERY DANGEROUS.
    Let me know if you give it a go!

    Uploaded 12 days ago, what a coincidence! I just learned about this camera today and I think that the tilt/shift would satisfy my landscape photography dreams without having to spend a fortune on home dev kit for sheet film that 4x5 would necessitate.
    So long as the landscapes are accessible by car, anyway! Thanks for the video

    The heat sink you mentioned inside the battery pack is a thermal fuse. I couldn’t figure out what it was either until I hooked an ohmmeter up to it and heated it up. Only then did I see “70C” printed on the outside underneath the heat shrink. At 70C it quickly goes from zero resistance to being an open circuit. Maybe just a bimetallic strip inside or something that gets hot with enough charge current. 1:49
