    About Nicholeen Peck
    ========================
Despite your best efforts at raising children, is your family dysfunctional? Do your children set the rules and have control of your home instead of you? Are you looking for parenting skills that will help you create a united, happy family?
Then meet Nicholeen Peck, one of the world’s most effective parenting experts. Whether you want to fix child behavioral issues, create more unity in the home, or simply strengthen your family relationships, her proven system - Teaching Self-Government - can help you turn chaos into calm.
"People are starving for help to save their families," says Nicholeen.
Since 1999, her seminars, workshops, one-on-one training sessions, parenting videos and books have helped thousands of families worldwide regain peace, be happy and maintain unity in their home. The secret? Learning how to use effective family systems based on parenting that’s deliberate and pro-active (instead of reactive). It all starts with the principles of self-government. If you’re a family of faith, you’ll especially love how your faith and values can be woven into her parenting system.
In 2009, Nicholeen and her husband starred in the BBC reality TV show, “The World’s Strictest Parents” (watch here: bit.do/StrictestParents). She became an overnight sensation by turning around two out-of-control teenagers from England after just one week - without shouting, threats or manipulation. Her amazing success comes from the positive parenting techniques of using calmness, effective communication and principles of self-government.

So happy to have found your channel! I’m recently diagnosed with adhd and strongly suspect my child is the same, and this seems like a really useful way of approaching things. Thank you!

What your teaching about calming habits is vital for survival. Healthy, Healing, Habit's so needed these days... Working with horses anything but a calm habit drives them away and destroys their trust and respect working with you. Having type 1 diabetes, losing your temper is dangerous when driving and someone cuts you off and barely misses your bumper while driving down the highway! This shoots panic, anger, adrenaline causing high sugar that can put you into a coma. Much anxiety in the world today and frustration is causing adrenaline fatigue syndrome; unbalancing hormones, causing major mental duress, and body damaging sicknesses... Yes! what you've learned and developed about calming habits is extremely valuable.

Oh yes! My boy (6?) Told me "you'll forget about it anyway". When I first started watching Nicholeen, I thought the scripts would be overwhelming and artificial, but after binge watching for 2 weeks they have started coming out of my (monster mom) mouth pretty naturally, and it has started to work pretty quickly . . . I'm hopeful. We are desperate for change.

I love this! It is so helpful. I am wanting to implement the 4 skills, but have been struggling to have good response from my children. I am grateful to have this example of how to start.

    Hi Nicholeen,
I found you last month when April mentioned on her channel that she was going to be meeting up with her hero "Nicholeen Peck"! I decided to look you up and all I can say is "Why am I now just finding you!" LOL.
I downloaded your podcast with Paije and I'm now listening to #25! Yeah!
I believe that God places people in your path at the right moment!
I've been following April & Davey for about 18 months now.
We have 2 natural children (whom are adults now) & 2 daughters that were adopted in 2011. They are 15 & 13 and have come from significant trauma. Recently we were notified that one of their brothers were adoption failed and he's been living in a group home.
My husband and have prayed about it and we are now in the process of completing the ICPC paperwork to adopt him.
We have sheltered our girl from worldly situations and he's been exposed to worldly situations. What is the best way to set boundaries for when he arrives?

The child coming into your home will really benefit from learning the Four Basic Skills. They give the boundaries he'll need. These four basic skills are what I used with all the troubled foster youth I took into my home. If I were you, I'd take the TSG Parenting Course quickly and get the family ready to thrive during the transition. I can promise you, it will be transformational.

Hi Jenny! It sounds like the self-government structure is transforming your life just like it changed mine. :) Send an email to admin@teachingselfgovernment.com to talk about the German translation idea. I think it's a good idea, but would require some discussion I think.

Hi Nicholeen, what do we do when our child won’t list the steps to following an instruction, and just says he already knows those steps so he doesn’t need to say them? Also, this child will not follow some rules like not picking up the cat. He is not gentle with our cat and likes to pick him up and tossing him around. And now this 4 yr old son of ours is trying to pick up the cat by his head and I feel like he is going to kill our cat. Our son doesn’t care that he earns extra chores. He does the negative consequences, then goes and does the mean things to our cat again and again. Can you help us? This child also screams/yells at us words like “stupid” when we don’t use those words in our home. Thank you so much! A lot of your tips have helped us!
