Re attessa, keep going with the bleeding. You're doing it right. I've done mine and it is tedious.
Re fuel pump, delete dampers. Your idea about rewiring the pump is correct. Will provide more/consistent voltage and will help when chasing power. Your Tuner will love you for it. It is a simple wiring diagram and 100% reversible. No cutting of stock wiring at all. I also DMd you in ig
The amount of tech and reinforcement in the trunk is INSANE lol never even knew there was a hidden brace that ran parallel with the rear bumper
2 strut braces and 2 chassis braces in the rear alone fulls size race diffuser on the bottom, after all the gtr was a road going race car with detuned race motor
What nissan once was wow. The attention to detail is incredible on them. Why did you become an suv and rental car company.
True, as soon as Renault got involved...wasted!
The same thing that happens to every advanced engineering car company. They spent more on R&D than they made and got taken over. The same thing happened to Lancia.
Read this comment right when they got to the trunk part. Such a cool company for a moment in time. :/
For real! R34 is like an sr71 blackbird
@@paulhutton1507 to your point, even Mercedes took this route Demuro talks about that all the time
Surge tank in engine bay or behind front bar. Problem solved.
no fuel surge, keep factory wiring and lines Nd have plenty of pump.
I'm about this as well. If you look at fuel pump flow charts the flow numbers are massive at low pressures.
The “damper” in the fuel line inside of the tank is actually a fuel pressure regulator. The small hole is the atmospheric reference port and the larger hole is the return into the tank.
Other drop in fuel pump is the Tomei GTR high flow they are 276Lt/h, they fit the factory bracket & are around $520aud
That exhaust looks really nice. That 76mm opened up to 3" that's insane!
Yes I'm making fun of a mispeaking lol. The machinist in me.
yes, I also had a chuckle
Haha, Yes its technically 83mm which would be 3 and a 1/4 inches. Note to self never mix measurement systems
As someone who has admired these cars from afar since playing Gran Turismo 2 as a kid, it’s really cool to get a peek at the guts and inner workings. The Nissan engineers must have been so proud of this thing.
So a theme I’m noticing is Pete always chooses the complex vehicle that will stress you out lol. M5 sedan/wagon and R34 GTR
Speed academy is goals
There’s a kit to bypass the FPCM that’s plug and play. You should definitely consider it due to voltage drop issues to the pump. You want to get the most out of your fuel system.
Link please
@@speedacademy if you want to allow the ECU to slow down the pump at idle like the OEM FPCM does I recommend using a solid state relay to be able to PWM the pump.
@@speedacademy It's made by Poor People Racing.
Take the 4wd reservoir out and wash out the filter if you want to get the 5mm gap as per the manual (its actually 5mm of plastic on the inside). That worked for mine. Most reservoirs look something like yours I think.
Amazing video! Seeing underneath the car, it needs the dry ice cleaning treatment! Maybe you guys may do this?
Radium Engineering make an intank surge tank and fuel pump hanger system which could be an option worth looking into. Might allow you to keep the OEM wiring and fuel pump as the lift pump setup and use the aem fuel pump to feed the injectors all of which sits inside the factory fuel tank. Another comment suggested deatschwerks make a fuel pump as a drop in replacement.
Keep up the great content guys
We looked at it. Converts over to AN and would still need wiring work.
Seeing a lot of builders blowing their RB26 builds makes me bummed but I hope y’all the best with this build and I’m sure everything will be fine!
I have the Greddy equal length front pipe on my BCNR33, I did it by myself in the garage. Wasn't too bad. It fits well and makes the car sound so much better than the Apexi pipe that I previously had installed. Currently running a Kakimoto catback, but thought about getting the new Greddy exhaust. The Tomei exhaust sound is legendary for a reason.
On my R33, I used that AEM pump but utilized a GTS-T pump hanger so it fit perfectly and I didn't have to modify the GTR hanger at all. Then I used the Radium Engineering fuel pump hardwire kit. It works perfectly.
I believe the DW420 pump is a drop in replacement. Using it on my 97 R33 GTR Vspec making 650whp on 110 octane VP.
Just done watching BMI; and the Mine's R34, the Nismo Z tune, and MCR GTR34 was going at it,now am here...Nissan to the world😍!!
That exhaust setup is next level beauty! I can't wait to hear how it sounds.
As metioned a few times, i would ditch that fuel pump setup and controller. Run a relay setup straight from the battery to avoid voltage drop.
That exhaust is awesome! Insane the amount of work to get to the fuel pump tho!
Seeing the struggle just to get to a fuel pump reminds me of my MR2....gotta drop the ENTIRE tank just to change out the pump!
Damn I think the first video I ever watched to do with speed academy was the video on Petes yt of his evo with the tomei exhaust, which then led me to speed academy
Great video! But you should’ve driven the car and reviewed the sound of the Tomei.
would really love to see this car get dry ice cleaned underneath would definitely take this car to the next level!
FYeah'd
I'm gonna have to research this, never heard of it

So sick love the exhaust system! Plus that Nissan tech was definitely was a flex
Loving the progress, cannot wait to see this and the supra battle it out. Funny how the titanium catback for the R34 is only around 1k, while a titanium catback for a R35 is 4k+.
Z1 also sells this!! Tomei R34 GTR High Flow Fuel Pump Upgrade - 276L/H, It is a little more expensive at 500 USD but it looks like plug and play.
Not in stock and no ETA
Hey guys, I work at princess auto. We carry random Lisle products in our surplus automotive section. No need to wait online!
Oh good to know!
PT I used a fuel pump Jumper Harness to the battery so it just runs at battery voltage all the time. This is on an r32 though, but you should be able to do something similar.
The exhaust is just awesome. Re-wire the pump, you can do it without hacking the car and you will get the good voltage you need. It's just a trigger, from ecu and a new relay in the boot. Battery is even right there, excuses are low :P
All the original zinc in that trunk is crazy
Awesome content as always.
Ahhh man!!
I hate when that happens. You start a job and something stops you. Ahhh.
Well, hope you can get the part you need to finish this job and get one step closer to starting her.👍🏼
Z32 goodness for the win 🏆 the underdog
ahh, I remember that attesa plug. use to unplug it, start the GTR, tap on the brakes 3 times, and it's RWD haha. a little trick to know ;)
One piece front pipes aren’t hard to put in but been real interested in the Tomei one, slip joints give some nice movement to the system
The never ending gtr saga continues 😂
Are you guys planning on later releasing the podcast on all the different posdcast platforms for all us cheap bustuds as well?
Love ❤️ the Nissan GT-R yea miss having one I wish I never sold it 10 years ago
that fuel pump set up is very similar in arrangement to a e34 bmw. so when you do the m5 you will have a similar experience just more accessable
Start the damn thing man! 😉
I'm just a few minutes in, hopefully you use some very very soft supple hangers to minimize vibration so the Ti doesn't crack
Well worth the wait. Loves me some r34 content.
for the Fuel pump, just get a frenchysperformancegarage full kit. easiest replacement and works well!. Radium also do make a kit for the R33/34 GTRs
If you start to hear a rattle at certain RPM’s just take off the springs, they’re known to do that after a while and that’s why I took them off my STI. They don’t do much anyway.
Isn't the point of the spring to protect your header from cracking??
@@mitchellsteindler Why would you suggest that? Regardless if it has the springs or not the exhaust is constantly swinging around slightly and aggressively.
@@evanlegault2257 the point of the springs is to allow flex in the rest of the exhaust without stressing the header
@@mitchellsteindler I believe they are the only company that uses them. If every other car in the world not running a Tomei was complaining about that issue so often, then I wouldn’t suggest he takes them off. Because they do little to nothing, it is better to take them off than to deal with the annoying rattle constantly.
Also why isn't all of this technical stuff on the speed academy + channel?
i've got a mkiv supra and the more i watch you guys tear down into this thing the happier i am thast i own a Supra and not a gtr lol
I would go with a different pump. I have had one of those fail and destroy my complete fuel system.
This is going to be awesome! Can’t wait for the start!
Btw shouldn’t there be a FLEX PIPE? Idk if that’s necessary but just asking lol.
Not on a Ti system such as this
Miata has its own group size
I installed a one pice Mine's front pipe into my GTR. It was hard but did take a little "finessing". The tomei one does like WAY easier though.
The supra does have a lateral g sensor, its for the abs system. No wizardry needed!
Damn, didn’t even get to hear the Tomei Ti exhaust
NOT a gtr owner but have an idea. What about a syringe and tube into the reservoir and suck that air out?
You guys should pimp a Nissan Altima!!!!
Take it down to Tommy for a collab and dry ice treatment
Hopefully you guys are gonna run Continental Sport Contact 7 tyres on this R34 🔥🔥🔥
Love this build even more!
Hold my beer while I unplug my 386 computer in the trunk!
wish I could hear that exhaust...
Great work!
The only reason why I hate Tomei is the exhaust doesnt tuck up tight against the chassis. Always bothered me. Seen too many people rip them off since they hang too low.
its its soooo beautiful!!
I've always wanted an R33GT... I wonder if it's equally hard to get to the fuel pump on it🤔
Check w/ Dynosty or Monsta as well.
Leakspec sweater but no Leaskspec exhaust WTF?!?!
Very informal 🙌🏽🙏🏽
The shade is reall 😂😂😭
better just put a triple hellcat pump setup in there from now and run it on 20% duty lmfao. ull never have to go in there again.
Nice stuff 👏 👌 👍
Doesn't a r35 pump work or is that injectors
Whats the deal with white evo in the back?
This car continually surprises me with how over engineered it is.
You guys should Dry ice clean up your car..
In the Supra, your right foot is your yaw control 😅
Is that a tomei dah
I love the lightness and durability of titanium but ... it doesn't sound anywhere near as beautiful as it looks. Raspy, tin can-like. It's a shame that they can't do something about the sound.
When in doubt, Z32
Ask Adam LZ he will know or Tommy 🤔
German type of ideas but with a Japanese execution. And it actually worked
saving 30 pounds on exhaust and still the computers alone weight 200 pounds, biggest saving would come with standalone ecu... =)
Why not do HICAS delete?
Japanese tech in the late 90s and early 2000s, with enough money to justify, the gtrs were supercars with detuned race engines because of the agreement, if that agreement wasn't there then it would have 400hp stock essential the japanese 996 turbo s
9:20 those aren't phillips screw heads you need J.I.S. screw drivers
You sound like you have COVID at the end of that vid
yeah but tomei usa..
That oem z pump isn’t gonna be e85 compatible is it?
No def not
@@speedacademy lots of z32 tt guys run e85 with stock pump and can support over 500hp. Those fuel dampeners you spotted on the fuel pump assembly might be pressure relief valve. Those can hinder fuel pressure as the relief valves get old. Wouldn't be a bad idea to bypass it if it is that.
Excited to see the startup vid. What's the deal with that white evo in the back tho...
Lisle makes good sh!t though!
Nissan
Maybe in 3 or 7 more episodes the R34 will be done. Just to loose against the Supra.
The gt500 supra beat the gt500 gtr.
Lovuguys
Just wipe down the TI exhaust with a rag and wd40,no finger prints or anything.
Should the proper exhaust for this car not be 3.5”? You’re gonna bottleneck badly I feel
And the tomei exhausts are all handmade
You can easily bypass it by just using a hobbs switch setup and not actually have to do any fuckery
The tomei exhaust is 3.5inches so not sure what you mean.
Not without splicing into wires.
@@speedacademy at 1:00 you say 76mm which is 2.99'' and then say 3" at the downpipe sections
Not trying to be harsh, but you guys run into a TON of issues with stuff not working…do you not do any research, or follow any forums, before deciding what/how to do things? I understand a video drop schedule can present issues with available time to do research, but…
Sure we do but theres very little info actually out there for an r34 GTR. Search fuel pump replacement for an R34 GTR and youll see what I mean. Trust me, we waste more time sitting at the computer searching for R34 specific stuff then we do wrenching sometimes.
@@speedacademy AdamLZ, Tommyfyeah, Motive, and a bunch of the Aussie UA-camrs have videos with info, and/or products I’m sure they would be willing to sell you. It’s a start at least.
@@jlehm Again, I watch all their videos, most of them are not DIY vids so its not much help, like I said search R34 GTR fuel pump replacement and see how much info comes up. LZs video is the only one and he is running an extreme setup. There is very little info on something like a bolt-in FP upgrade and almost anything in general on the R34 GTR.
@@speedacademy Tomei makes a drop in pump replacement. Not sure if it meets your needs.
@@jlehm I havent been able to find ANYWHERE that has one in stock. Otherwise it's 6-9 weeks out at the earliest.
It can't be that lightweight if it goes all the way to the back
@L W use the same material, dump it out the front fender
Ultimate? Please its without a doubt the cheapest Ti exhaust made. Had one on my GTR and finish is horrible. Low grade titanium that drones like crazy. Upgraded to a ARC one and its clear why it cost 4 x the Tomei.
I agree he should have said high end for your average enthusiast because you can definitely get better quality if you're willing to pay for it
Agree this exhaust is junk
The music selection in this one is quite annoying.
The sad part is it takes all those computers to calculate how bad the Supra's going to lose. #TeamGTR
