- On this episode Rick Allen shows us his special one-arm drumset!
Your "Bean" is slang for your Head.
If a pitcher threw a ball at your head then it was called a "bean ball". If he hit you, then he "beaned you". So...when we say "Rock my Bean", that's what we mean - when it comes to good drumming!
Amazing story!
Yes, it was a long time ago... LOL. We first saw DL at Alpine Valley in July 1983, before Rick's accident in Dec 84. Gary Moore opened. I think there was another band on before Gary.
Indeed I remember that! 🙂
Not familiar with Rick Allen but WOW...
To be fair, his sound crew designed the kit. The tour after he lost his arm, most of the set was drummed by Status Quo's drummer, with Rik doing about 30 minutes. THen one night, in Ireland, he got delayed and couldn't make it. Rik stepped up and did the whole set. I think there was a standing ovation, for over five minutes. :)
Interestingly he did have the ball and socket joint replaced, on his other arm but that wasn't from the drumming or accident, it was from all the waterskiing he did.
Thanks for that detailed info!
@@rockmybean5650 He's a lovely guy but you have to know he's washed his feet, if he's making you dinner. :P
@@hellsbunniestv584 LMAO!
@@rockmybean5650 If you want to see an awesome thing, with people who are different, in this case amputees, you should check out the UK show, The Last Leg.
It originally started for the 2012 Paras but is still going. A weekly comedy magazine show, strongly backing those who are different or have disabilited. Incredibly funny and between the three hosts, there's four legs and four complete hands and one of them has two legs and hands. :P
@@hellsbunniestv584 That would be great! Thanks!
