- The Pusher trilogy is a series of three films by Danish film director Nicolas Winding Refn. They illustrate and explore the criminal underworld of Copenhagen. The trilogy is comprised of Pusher (1996), Pusher II (2004) and Pusher III (2005).
Pusher
The first part of the trilogy follows Frank, a mid-level drug dealer, for a week. It depicts his depravity, how his actions forces him further and further out on thin ice and the bittersweet relationship he has with his girlfriend, Vic.
The movie was a blockbuster, not only in Denmark, but internationally. It was also the movie that launched both Refn's and Mads Mikkelsen's careers.
Pusher II: With Blood on my Hands
The second part of Refn's trilogy, which was made to save his company, Jango Star, from bankruptcy, follow Frank's low-level criminal sidekick, Tonny.
It illustrates how Tonny is rooted in an evil spiral of crime and drugs, his relationship towards his notorious, cynical father and how he adapts to the consequence of being a father himself.
Pusher 3: I Am the Angel of Death
The third and last part of the trilogy, depicts a day in the life of Serbian drug lord Milo.
Milo, who was a feared and respected man in the first two movies, has since aged. He does not have the same grip on the underworld that he used to and is now slowly losing the battle against a younger generation of immigrants, who now want a piece of the action. The film shows Milo's downfall and his desperate attempt to reclaim the throne.
Reviews
Nathan Lee of The New York Times said of the trilogy:
From the mean streets of Copenhagen-they evidently exist-comes the Pusher trilogy, a pungent dose of Denmark rot. Written and directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, this tough trio of underworld thrillers sticks so close to its rogues' gallery of gangsters, suckers and murderous megalomaniacs that you can almost taste the hate and smell the stomach wounds. Given an appetite for grisly crime flicks, they make for a delectably nasty epic.
What a simple, yet infinitely effective way of opening a film.
It’s the way they used to do it way back in the day
When I watched the first pusher movie I was so incredibly immersed and entertained that I ended up watching the whole trilogy back to back on the same night. I’ve seen people say this is one of the best trilogies ever made, and I’ve got to agree with that. I actually think his pusher movies are far better than refn’s recent work. and that’s coming from someone who loves Drive and enjoyed the neon demon.
Couldn't agree more. Refn's contemporary work is massively style over substance compared to the gritty realism of his early films. I hope he returns to this eventually as he's clearly capable of much better things than "ooh look everything's purple and neon"
The Mad Max trilogy rules too.
But I agree.....Only God Forgives and Neon Demon were all style over substance.
1 movie: about a man with no RESPECT
2 movie: about a man earning RESPECT in the end
3 movie: about a man who already has RESPECT
Milo has but is quickly losing respect
Milo and Radovan are the shit...
Pusher I = Pusher II = Pusher III > Pusher Remake
Im 5 years late but as a brit myself i can say it was terrible.
one of the best trilogy ever made.
Agreed. Especially because they just kept getting better.
pusher 3 with Milo in main role is best
the best... the most consistent by far. it just het better and better, and darker and darker.
Hollywood can not make this kind of movies.
They way Milo and Radovan disposed those two guys' bodies was brutal.
The fact that the movie holds the violence till the end and then just goes all out nuts is crazy.
@@TxxT33 this film trilogy is all about things progressively escalating
Milo is topclass charcter, so hillarious and dangerous.
pusher is not just a drug trilogy tells the story of the one that just arrived and want more, who want to quit and can not quit. masterpiece
Hell yeah
one of few trilogies where every movie is insanely good
Where are you from?

best triology ever made. period. after seeing the first i thought, ok the second one is going to be doing "this" and then it went a completely different direction. then part three brought milo back as a struggling drug addict and i wanted to jump through the screen with excitement. Refn going down as one of the best writers directors of our time. period
Milo is the best.
Legendary, especially the second one.
Second one is the best one.
huga buga, the chinesse hugo boss

Tonny is the best

MILO > FRANKE > TONY
Lmfao who disliked this?
@@oozrenn agree...milo is the best
Christ alive - people don’t understand subjective thought. They’re all great characters but whoever’s the best is down to your own opinion, all 3 of these movies are brilliant and to try and pit them against one another is just silly.

Most badass intro in the history of filmmaking
I remember this video store in Edmonton that a guy owned with all horror and foreign films. Two of my friends and I were talking about movies while looking and the owner came over and started talking to us. After listening to what kinda movies we liked he gave us the Pusher trilogy without telling us anything about it and just said ‘trust me’ and said if we didn’t like it, he would refund the rental fee, so we grabbed it. Sucked in from the opening credits, all three of us were transfixed from the start and how raw and disturbing they were. From Franks descent to Tonys journey, the trilogy continued to getter deeper and more surreal the further it went. I recall all of us just staring kinda mouths agape in the third one during the whole Milo/Radovan act and how engrossing it was. Needless to say we all ended up buying the trilogies and I always try to recommend them to people. Thank you for uploading, ✌🏼 everyone.
Could quite possibly be the best films EVER made....
Pusher I< Pusher III< Pusher II guys !
Pusher II = Pusher III > Pusher I
Monster fuckin riff, slammin on the drums. Loved the whole trilogy, 2 & 3 had incredible, unforgettable endings. Although PUSHER was truly the only film which had me on the edge of my seat.
Now we just need Pusher 4!!!
They were actually gonna make a number 4 with Little Muhammed (apparantly he survived being stuffed in the freezer), but he got send to prison for 7 years. This was years ago tho. If anything, it would be a very relevant movie these days with a middle eastern lead because we have many problems with middle eastern gangs. They have been the dominant ones for the past many years.
I don't think they will ever gonna come for this project. both Nicolas Winding Refn and Mads Mekkelsen has been moved on for better projects
i have discovered this movie in the sevilla cinema festival, now i have to see all the trilogy, simply great
Reminds me of the first GTA at the character select screen
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this compilation!!! It is so stylish!!! Bravo! I am so glad that I now have somewhere to view all three intro's in one go!!! The Pushers are an amazing triology--realistic, complex and holistic--I absolutely love them! Thanks for posting!
Pusher are the best movies about and with drugs, it really shows what can happen, and it's not unreal for it to go that way for those involved in drugs and shit.. stay out of drugs..!!!
Loved all three in the trilogy, but the first one is fucking legendary. Talk about a crime thriller with an emphasis on the thriller. It really had you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Frank facing one unknown tomorrow after the other. Social realism taken to the next level.
Music sounds best in number 1. Tweaked it a bit for 2 & 3 and it's not quite as good
I'm not gonna debate whether the Pusher trilogy is gold or not. However, this track + gangster movie = yes
This track alone is a solid smooth smooth
Hello everybody. The theme is called "Pusher Theme" performed by "Peter Peter" (the guitar player from a Danish Rock band named Sort Sol)
Рефн гений
thanks for the great upload, i love the theme of the unbelivable great trilogy. pusher and pusher II are best, but pusher III has the focus on my fave milo... this is absolutely no "tarantino-style" - this is fuckin real independent cinema at it´s best!
I loved all 3 movies
wonder if guy ritchie was inspired by this movie for lock stock two smoking barrels
probably
Brutal movies, all of them masterpieces.
masterpiece
I think the songs were specially composed for the movies, the name should be "Pusher Theme" : )
such a great movie and such a great theme!
franke du fukka mej !!!!!!
No way, Pusher 2 was the best one.
This is great!
After Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction, Godfather 1-2, La Haine and Cidade de Deus, its my favorite gangster movie. Better than Lock,Stock2smokings barrels, carlito's way, donnie brasco, white heat, dead man shoes, american x history, Gomorra, reservoir dogs etc etc... Really liked those three movies and I,m a big buff of gangster/organized crime movies.
Fantastic video man...!! I love the openings of those movies, they're great, and the whole trilogy is a fucking masterpiece !!
That's how you start a goddamn movie.
So much so I'm watching Pusher the night.
Супер кайф
what's the song called??
Pusher 2 theme is the best!!!
Robota pierwszorzędna :)
Muhammed King Kong of kopenhagen :D
Awesome love it!
Lilla fågel blå - Staffan Hellstrand ?
They had a fourth movie planned, and unfortunately the actor playing muhammed who was going to be the main character was killed in gang related violence.
Really a shame, it would have been a great examination of this underbelly we haven't gotten to see.
Refn, despite having made the sequels due to financial issues, really did kill it. I miss the way he used to tell stories about reality, rather than now this sort of high concept pretentious crap.
That's very interesting... Did you get that into from a interview or article cuz I'd love to learn more!
goosebumps
great trilogy
these movies are amazing
That sudden urge that fills you with energy.
Easily my favorite trilogy! :-D
Radovan... son of a bit*h. Awesome bastard,
@liarbot13 Indeed. A few days ago one of my friends said to me: "If I'm not in the stroy and if I'm just an observer, the film is not good." Well, the first Pusher's intro grabbed me like Hell.
Favortie trilogy only second to LoTR
jag träffade Mads(tonny på en mässa i gbg och morsan filmade mitt möte me han^^
When this song kicked in, i thought that i was about to experience the most awesome movie ever, didn't happen...
But it was still good!
the song is called "prisoner" forget the artist a quick google search will bring it up
I want to Set Pusher 2 Theme as a ringtone .D
C'est quoi le titre de l'intro?
What is the title of the song of the trilogy?
Absolutely the best trilogy I’ve ever seen!
I love the intro's but what's the name of the song?
Taking out the trash.
@fackwayne it's actually by The Prisoner feat. Thomas Risell
God damned where can i get the whole soundtrack?
Tommy’s not in 3?
Slightly let down by pusher 3's opening. I felt that it should've been more darker and impactful.
honestly i wish that it was a different theme from pusher 2. But it's honestly expected cos pusher.2 and 3 were made so clpse to esch other
This movie reminds me GTA 2
It'd be awesome if someone could upload them separately. Lovely in-put, anyway!
Whats the name of the song?
what's the name of the song?
I love this shit !

Best trilogy.Easy.
Fun fact
Refn didn’t want to cast actors to play criminals, so all the criminals in these films were actually gang related in real life
great man, thanks for sharing
cool!
Three great movies!
Awesome love it! :)
Better than „The Godfather 1 - 3“.
Best Trilogy ever.
If you enjoyed the opening track check out "Darkside - Heart".
You won't stop listening to it ;)
crap
That's exactly what I heard that reminded me of this!
Any ideas why with every next movie characters become more illuminated?
the first film had a very low budget so they used basically the cheapest camera available if im remembering correct
song title?
