My method from an American video is this: 1 unwaxed grapefruit and 2 or 3 unwaxed lemons. Peel then chop up the rinds. Put rinds in a largish pan and add 8 or 10 cups of boiling water. Bring to the boil then cover with a tight lid - no steam must escape. If you don't have a lid try using a thick earthenware plate and pour some water on the surface to prevent the plate from cracking. This will need constant topping up as the water will evaporate. Simmer for 3 hours. Allow to cool for around 2 hours - don't remove the lid/plate. After 2 hours pour the liquid through a sieve into another pot. Then fill small sterilized jars with the liquid leaving about 1/2 inch gap between the underside of the lid and the liquid. Keep one in the fridge and freeze the rest. Take 2 tablespoons a day.
Not sure why you’re suggesting another method, especially when it’s inferior to this video. Also seems a bit disrespectful, to the wisdom and effort shared by this helpful caring woman.
@@healthyfreesoulbecause they can. Everyone offers their ways. It isn’t “disrespectful” to share your recipes at all!! I find your comment much more disrespectful. Have you ever sat around a table to discuss banana bread recipes?!? If you have you’ll know that everyone has their own way and everyone likes to hear alternatives. My quinine is 3 grapefruits, 2 lemons and 2 limes. I bring it to a boil then to a simmer covered. I let it simmer for THREE hours. Then let it cool totally. Only when the pan is cold to touch so I open the lid. I also put a cast iron pan on my lid to make sure all that good steam stays inside. It keeps for 14 days. You take a tablespoon every hour if your sick. If it’s just to keep you healthy, have a tablespoon in the morning then at night. I like warmed cider because it’s sweeter. I also put it in bone broth when I’m not well. NONE of what I’ve said and shared here is disrespectful. If you find it so, then it is you who has the problem.

The active chemical compounds in grapefruit include flavones, isoflavones, flavonols, furanocoumarins and anthocyanidin, which have been found to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activities. The flavonoids of interest include naringin, quercetin and kaempferol.
From my own experience, the fastest and simple and easy remedy for the common cold is ginger. Mix ginger powder with something warm such as a glass of warm milk or warm water or some soup, take it right before bed.
You're very welcome. I am not sure if it has any contra indications for 3 years olds, so I wouldn't want to comment. However remembering my own childhood remedies - me and my sister as little kids would be given a tablespoon of pure spirit with a toad in when we had a flu and were fine 😁
I strain out the boiled rinds with a netting fruit bag to get as much moisture out as possible. The squeezed pulp looks like it could be put to further use. Would it be of benefit to fine blend the pulp and ad it back into the liquid, giving it a thick cloudy appearance, or does the final liquid have to be clear?
This was a GREAT video! Thank you for taking the time to make this. I’m getting a sore throat and I’ve made it before, but I always for how long it needs to simmer.
Sea buckthorn oil taken a tablespoon at a time to coat the throat 3-4 times a day (and not eating or drinking anything afterwards for at least half an hour) can help with sore throat. Ehinacea tincture and Vitamin C (or eating fruits and vegetables rich in Vitamin C) can help with colds. Mullein leaf tea can help with chest infection.
thank you so much xx i put a whole organic lemon and grapefruit and blend it ..i take a table spoonful with manuka honey daily. or do you have to boil it please ,thank you
You do have to boil it as the quercetin is made from boiling the skins for a long time, however your natural remedy you mentioned would be great for the body and immunity too, for different reasons 🙂
So because of losing some nutrients while it steaming does this mean it’s not a good idea to but hot water in the 2 tablespoons of this concoction to drink as a hot tea?? I would assume it’s not but I just wanted to double check 😌
The reason why you don't want to open the lid while the mixture is cooking is for the good oils not to escape with steam. Not sure about using this as hot tea, I always drank it cold with some added maple syrup 🙂
I want to make this and freeze and give as Christmas gifts with ingredients list and a cute bow. Is the ice trays the only way to freeze them? Mason jars wouldn't work? I made some for me and stored in the fridge and they ended up going bad after a month or so. Does the honey make it ferment? What is the best water to use? Distilled, Purified or Filtered? Thank you so much!
Yes, you could freeze them in small glass jars, just make sure you don't overfill them and leave a little room at the top as water expands when it freezes. You could add honey and lemon juice to it before you freeze if you wanted to, it should be fine in the fridge for at least 2 weeks or so. Distilled water would probably be best as it would not have any additional minerals, just the ingredients, but filtered water will be fine too.
I guess the same way you do other preserves, although I am not sure if it would keep as it does not have acid or sugar. Perhaps the pressure canning method would work.
@@HealthOrigins Could you explain why you say this does not have acid? I thought all fruits have acid and are safe for water bath method. I'm trying to learn. Thank you!
I wouldn't boil the juice, but you can definitely add quercetin to a fruit juice afterwards. And yes, you would need to remove wax and pesticides from your citrus peels if they are not organic and unwaxed. I have a video on my channel that shows how you can do it with boiling water. If your citrus is unwaxed but not organic, then either a vinegar or baking soda wash can be done - don't use them both as they will neautrlise each other 🙂
I put the remaining peels in my compost bin. Canning the liquid sounds like an interesting idea, definitely worth a go I think, let me know if you try it 🙂
@@HealthOrigins thank you for your reply. 🥰 I made a double batch and may have used more water than you did in my batch. I let it cool overnight. I will sweeten it up and try canning small batches. I will let you know how they turn out.
I put them in a blender with organic sugar to taste, then make fruit leather disc's out of them. I take them with me when i go out to work etc. especially during cold and flu season. @@HealthOrigins Thank you so very much for your reply! Yes, the heat was on the lowest setting it could go. I didn't see steam escaping like I did the first time with my first pot. My first pot had a steam hole on the lid so I quickly transfer it to a different pot. I didn't see any escaping after that. I did get some liquid by squeezing out all the rinds and then straining that little bit of liquid. This was just very costly because I don't like eating grapefruit and didn't get much from the rinds to justify doing this again. I really want to have some in the freezer should I need it and so I thank you for your reply. I guess next time I should add a bit more liquid then. I will see if I can find a different pot to use next time. Thanks again!!!!
Some people top the liquid back up, I'm starting with more. I freeze cubes. I used some to reverse my local flu. I also did a sinus wash with warm water, 3/4 teaspoon salt, 1 dropper of iodine, and a pinch of boron/Borax having no additives. All are antiviral. Took 2 hours to end early symptoms. Had to repeate day 2, as tiny symptoms were trying again. I'm using the positive pressure bottle Nielmed. I took 2 ice cubes daily , of grapefruit lemon thing because they froze together.
Sometimes in supermarkets they specify unwaxed lemons for example, but most of the citrus fruit specifically is waxed. If that's the case, you can take the wax off following my quick video: ua-cam.com/video/22hX3p5HwLo/v-deo.html
Doesn’t matter, if you cut it. I just remove the inside, scoop it out, in with big pieces of peel, cover with water, simmer for 2 hours. It’s enough. By the way: lifting the lid has no impact, because it’s not the steam that does it. It’s the liquid.
Just to clarify - it does matter whether you lift the lid. It's the volatile oils from the Grapefruit and lemon skins that you want, and they will escape as steam if you lift the lid. If you keep the lid on until it cools down, the steam and the oils condense on the lid and drop down into the pot.
I understand what you mean, but with such a long time boiling it, you're better off to eat the fruit raw, you will get all the nutrients and vitamins from it that way.
The quercetin is in the peel. Not in the rest of the fruit. The quercetin won't be as concentrated if you put the whole fruit in. I fill the whole pot with grapefruit, lemon and orange peels and add water, then simmer it for the most potency.
You could, by why waste a good fruit by boiling it to death, best to eat it raw and get all the nutrients that way, or juice it and add to the mix when drinking quercetin, to make it less bitter 🙂
I make enough to fill a dozen 500mil used plastic drink bottles. I put them in the deep freeze and I have kept them for up to about 4 months, defrosting one at a time and drinking as I go.
Not sure, I don't see why you couldn't, but I would not put it at the start, I would add the chopped up fruit after the liquid has finished simmering, as after such long time simmering, the fruit will lose all of it's nutrients.
The quinine..not quercetin...is in the rind only. Be sure not to lift lid while and after boiling. The quinine evaporates fast while heated. Keep covered til room temp..
Oh i forgot to add the cooking process in my last comment. The fruit has a lot of juice in it. I would add some water.same as i make my apples there is a lot of juice Please let me know 🍋
After a surgery I had forgotten about the interactions between Grapefruit & Antibiotics 😫 (among other medications like Meds for high cholesterol, blood thinners, high blood pressure, etc) and was taking this concoction for several days….I stopped drinking it but wondered why it didn’t make me throw up 🤮 like the first time I learned about this interaction. I didn’t see anything online about using grapefruit peels but I did read that meditation doesn’t effect when using a grapefruit seed extract. So most likely it’s just the actual FRUIT it’s self…But of course not worth taking the chance….I just wanted to share my experience 😊 Would be awesome to have actual scientific proof though 🤗
Nearly all natural supplements reduce the effectiveness of medications. That's the point,, the natural supplement gives the immune system more and better fuel to fight both the illness and to fight the medication. All medications are made from bunker C oil. Oil,, like in your car, and, All has negative side effects,, without exception. Also note,, 33% of all deaths in North America are caused by Medical Malpractice. (supposed mistakes). The system is unbeatable in emergencies but after that stay away from Dr's! All standard medicine and medical advice Only treat the symptom,, never the problem; creating perpetual sickness! Sorry to hear of your illness and happy the surgery worked out. Learn as much as you can about your immune system from natural point of view. Look into this,,, All Illness begins in the Gut!! ALL. Cheers and all the best in the future.
Ischl, grapefruit is doing the same thing as the meds, so you would use it instead of say 1 dose of blood thinner. ( like Coumadin) it would act like a double dose if you had a pill and the fruit. Could keep the grapefruit on hand for times when pharma runs out nowdays.
I have seen warnings about grapefruit and medication- it can cancel the action of some of the medicines best to check- one I think is thyroid meds and blood pressure.
Since the fruit works better than the meds,, then there is no wonder that they will "warn" you,, they want to sell their distructive patented products!@@isobel361

What can I used instead of grapefruits? I am an epileptic and can't have anything with Grapefruit.
I would go for just lemon skins in that instance, maybe adding one orange skin as well.
@@HealthOrigins thank you
You're very welcome.
Why not use the whole fruit? Then blend ?
I understand what you mean, but with such a long time boiling it, you're better off to eat the fruit raw, you will get all the nutrients and vitamins from it that way.
That makes sense. Thank you 😊
The quercetin is in the peel. Not in the rest of the fruit. The quercetin won't be as concentrated if you put the whole fruit in. I fill the whole pot with grapefruit, lemon and orange peels and add water, then simmer it for the most potency.
Thank you 🙏. 🕊🤍🕊
You're very welcome! 🙂❤️
You can use the whole fruit
You could, by why waste a good fruit by boiling it to death, best to eat it raw and get all the nutrients that way, or juice it and add to the mix when drinking quercetin, to make it less bitter 🙂
@@HealthOrigins I believe it to be more beneficial. Theres alot of information we've been duped about.
Use tonic water with quine in rather than just water
Much better with less water added.
Can I used orange peel?
Yes, you can add orange peel too, but I understand that most healing power is in the grapefruit peel.
How long does it keep for
7-10 days or so in the fridge, but you could freeze it in ice cube trays (covered) for a few months.
I make enough to fill a dozen 500mil used plastic drink bottles. I put them in the deep freeze and I have kept them for up to about 4 months, defrosting one at a time and drinking as I go.
How long does this keep?
About 7-10 days. You can freeze some too.
@@HealthOrigins This is very good to know! Thank you so much!
Why can't you put the whole fruit in the water chopped instead of using only the peel?
Not sure, I don't see why you couldn't, but I would not put it at the start, I would add the chopped up fruit after the liquid has finished simmering, as after such long time simmering, the fruit will lose all of it's nutrients.
The quinine..not quercetin...is in the rind only. Be sure not to lift lid while and after boiling. The quinine evaporates fast while heated. Keep covered til room temp..
I think this is hydrochloroquine. Quercetin is simmered onions and apples, including seeds.
I think a few plants have quercetin inside of them, so you can probably make it a few different ways.
It is hydroxychlorequine I’m in a group specifically for quinine that’s what this is
How much and how long do most people dose or drink when they are just exposed to c19 or the flu? @@alisa9195
Thank you. Only I think you spoilt it using vegan syrup instead of raw honey 🍯 😁
Oh i forgot to add the cooking process in my last comment. The fruit has a lot of juice in it. I would add some water.same as i make my apples there is a lot of juice
Please let me know 🍋
Whooo thats bitter lol.. thanks just made some!
Yes, it is bitter, I add a bit of lemon juice and maple syrup in a shot glass when I drink it 🙂
I use a huge tablespoon of honey and warm water. it hepls the bitterness.
Lemon juice and maple syrup helps me drink it 🙂
You develop a taste for it over time, like beer.
You mean it's homemade chloroquine?
I learned to do this to make hydroxychloroquine….taught that quercitin comes from red onions. Hmmm. Whatever….
All helpful remedies, regardless 🙂👍
I really do not know
Stevia…..mint
Anyone tried to mix everything instead of draining the peels? 😊
I heard people use the peels to do candied quercetin sweets 🙂
After a surgery I had forgotten about the interactions between Grapefruit & Antibiotics 😫 (among other medications like Meds for high cholesterol, blood thinners, high blood pressure, etc) and was taking this concoction for several days….I stopped drinking it but wondered why it didn’t make me throw up 🤮 like the first time I learned about this interaction. I didn’t see anything online about using grapefruit peels but I did read that meditation doesn’t effect when using a grapefruit seed extract. So most likely it’s just the actual FRUIT it’s self…But of course not worth taking the chance….I just wanted to share my experience 😊
Would be awesome to have actual scientific proof though 🤗
Yes, good point. I think you might be right, it's probably the actual fruit that reacts with the medications.
A diff channel said the recipe produced HCQ, not
Quercitin.
Whichever is the case, I am happy with it as it should be very useful for the cold season regardless 🙂
Produces both geeze.
Try to put some turmeric ginger 🫚 and honey 🍯 you will stay away from hospital
Vegan honey lol😂
Why add salt??
Not sure where the salt was mentioned?
Vegan homey really. Think about it for 1 min.... nah makes no sense. Thanks for the recipe
You're very welcome 🙂
This isn't quercetin (C15H10O7). It is d-limonene (C10H16). Do your research.
How strange, I’ve just bought this.
I think she meant chloroquine.
I just saw recipes all over the internet and they called it chloroquine
They both do the same...do your research!
Hydroxychloroquine, Quercetin and EGCG (EpiGalloCatechin Gallate) are all zinc ionophores. Meaning they all transport zinc into the cells.
Good to know, thank you 🙂
One of the flavonoids found in grapefruit juice is quercetin... per internet.. and I have done this with grapefruit, orange and lemon.. I does work.
Actually, Quercitin is usually made out of apple and onions…Natural Hydroxycloriquin is supposedly made this way…thanks!
You're very welcome!
Vegan honey? Really? the non vegan one is from flesh eating bees? That is sooooo shtoopid
Thanks ❤
You are very welcome 🙂
