Let the Sun In opines, “We don't have to get fat, we don't have to get old/We don't have information that we have to withhold.” If only that were true! In the same song, Hynde roars, "“We don’t need to fade to black., invoking a Dylan Thomas-like stance: “Think big or think big things/It ain't illegal/Open up and spread your wings/Fly like an eagle.” Time the Avenger has a nuanced meaning forty years after its release for both singer and audience.
This and the last album Hate for Sale endow their catalogue, not many bands can say that 4 decades into the career. Her vocals in her 70's it's mind blowing. It is a bit slow at times and sleepy but all songs are good, no filler. There is an underlying Melancholia which turns some people off but this is an ace of an album in my vainglorious opinion!

Dig all the references! Glad to hear you’re enjoying the record.

I agree 100% with all of this. No piece of art is perfect but this effort is damn fine. And her voice, after all this time!! My god it’s so good.
The best Pretenders album since Learning To Crawl.
I agree. Relentless is a damn fine effort.
Please review new turnpike troubadours
I’ve heard it’s really good!!
anyone else could live without the wacky backings of vainglorious ?
I love the track but I feel you on those backing textures. Maybe a bit too much.
