I used to be in a catholic private school when I was in pre-school, and they showed us ASL! Because we had to do a concert but there were deaf people watching so we all had to do so they understood. ❤️
I work at a gas station on the side and once a deaf man came in. My boss told me that the man comes from time to time and that I could take my mask off so he can lipread a little. I knew what I should do, so when I went home I sat down and learned the cashier basics in sign language. The next time I saw him, I signed have a good day at the end and the man looked so happy and is always smiling when he comes in and I’m working. It’s one little thing that hopefully makes his day. He inspired me to learn SL
Okay story time. So I worked at Petco, and I usually had to deal with so many weirdos trying to chat with me (especially when I used to work at Target, real creeps). I thought this man was one of them, so I kind of ignored his persistent hovering. Moments pass, then I decided to go up to him and asked if he needed help. He held up his phone with the message, “Hi, I’m deaf. Where are your dog carriers?” I instantly regretted thinking he was like the others. I signaled and led him over to the carrier section and pulled out my phone and typed on my notes app. He signed thank you and I signed thank you (at least I hope I did). I teared up thinking about how I was unable to communicate because he seemed really nice. From that day I wanted to know basic ASL, but it never stuck :(. There was this boy at my school a grade higher than me but he was deaf so I decided to try to talk to him by learning at home every night and when I’m on the bus in the morning I would try to talk to him as best I could because I feel that people who aren’t capable of hearing don’t really get to talk to many people, so I went out of my way and learned enough to have small conversations with him and I feel he enjoyed that someone was actually talking to him through ASL ❤️❤️

ASL stands for American Sign Language there are different signals for each country eg. Australian SL use two hands for alphabets but American only uses one sorry 😂😂😂
Love the cover. Besides a couple little tweaks you could make, the signing was pretty good! I love seeing people learn to sign! Such an underrated second language for hearing people. :)
