Last time I was in Vegas my schedule was something like this: wake up at 12pm, lay at the pool until 4 or 5pm, shower/nap for an hour or so, 6pm grab dinner, 8pm walk the strip, 10pm gamble until 6am, grab a burger for breakfast, then sleep. Repeat.
Also I completely agree with burning out. Vegas gets old four days in, in my opinion.

Before I moved here, I visited often. One thing that I quickly learned was to give yourself a full day off when you returned home. Easier to recover and get back to your home / work schedule that way.

Actually there's another thing I love about Vegas: the arcades!! There's a Pinball Hall of Fame on Tropicana Ave. E and it has so many classic pinball machines and arcade games (space invaders, Mario bros., Tetris etc) and it's pretty fun and cheap!

I went to Vegas a year ago and I couldn't agree more with your points. If I may, I would suggest getting a hotel "off strip" especially if someone prefers to retreat away from the crowds. My family and I stayed at an all suite hotel across the way from the Luxor right about where you're standing. Some may cost less and may offer free around the clock shuttle. Especially look out for the all suite hotels if a large group of people are traveling, a lot of them offer complimentary breakfast, it saves on meals so you can really splurge on other things like a fine dining restaurant for dinner, huge buffet lunch or more shopping.😁

Another tip about food and restaurants in Vegas. As someone who has also been to Vegas a few times before, be careful of restaurants trying to rip you off. My younger sister and I went to eat at the Eiffel Tower restaurant and we ordered a "lobster salad" to share for $30 and all they served us was just a scoop of lobster over a teaspoonful of corn and we were extremely disappointed and shocked. lol

I have travelled a lot. Look around before deciding where to go and what to order - you can usually tell just from looking whether you will enjoy the food and whether it is a rip off. Even asking the cleaning lady at your hotel is good idea!

Great advice Walter! I would add that taking the MGM tram/monorail will save you a bundle on taxi rides. Pick your battle though and only use the taxis late at night and after the monorail closes. I would not suggest taking it alone if heading towards the Stratosphere - a bit sketchy at night.

I don’t love Vegas so when I go for the USA Sevens rugby tourney (usually in March), I rent a car because over a few days it’s cheaper, stay in Henderson or at a reliable AirBNB, and get to Red Rocks State Park or out of town ASAP for a little quiet. A couple of nights on the strip is more than enough; going for the best restaurant the locals like, or a local history museum is actually really interesting. There’s a lot of sadness in LV but also of course fun - good video.

great video. I second the comments about the sdx and duece bus incredible value $20 3 days unlimited travel no need for taxis unless you're headed further away.
mob museum and neon museum combo ticket great way to save some cash on admission fee.
Bellagio conservatory at night when it's quieter for better photos.
stratosphere tower for incredible views go early avoid the crowds.
portions very generous at the peppermill so don't be afraid to share ask for a spare plate.

Agree with catching the attractions at each major casino - walking inside the Titanic in Luxor is amazing, being inside the Starship Enterprise is soooo cool, and don't miss the funfair rides in New York New York. Two suggestions. 1) Instead of standing in what can be a really long line, especially in what can be extremely hot weather, to get a taxi at the airport, there is a limo service by the baggage claim that serves Southwest, along with a few other airlines. The limos aren't exactly cheap, but they're a flat fee for an hour. That's plenty of time to reach any hotel, and when you split the cost among 2 or 3 friends/couples, it isn't expensive. Go online and book it ahead of your arrival, and your driver will be waiting for you, and will handle your baggage too. The limos tend to be much more clean and comfortable too.
    2) If you like to drink wine, go to The Rio. There's a wine bar on the lowest level that's excellent. I wouldn't say it's cheap, but at least there's a menu with all prices clearly listed, so there are no surprises. Also, it's about as quiet as a bar in Las Vegas gets, so it can be a good change from the chaos. www.caesars.com/rio-las-vegas/restaurants/wine-cellar-and-tasting-room#.VuPBglsrKVM

I've been to Vegas many time before I moved there, and one thing you can do if you don't want to stay at the insanely expensive Strip hotels is find one of the "Stations" which are the other hotels around Vegas that are pretty inexpensive (My favorite is Sam's Town). You can still walk through the casinos and experience a lot of the stuff they offer. Also, smoking is only allowed in the casino areas, so the shopping areas are smoke free.

+Eli Grant Weinmann FYI : Sam's Town is a Boyd Gaming property. Boyd has several off-strip properties in and near Vegas. One in particular that I like is The Orleans property. It's not far from the strip and their room rates are very reasonable. I call it "the diamond in the rough". Stations casinos have very reasonable room rates as well : )

Moved out here 12 years ago and hated it. Time has worn me down and I changed a lot. I like to see the tourists come out and have a great time. I used to work in one of the casinos and one of my favorite things to do was stop by a couple or family taking pictures and offer to shoot the picture for them so that everyone could get in. People getting super drunk and wild (as long as no one is getting hurt) makes me think that this is the tourist's only opportunity to let loose and I say, "Let 'em. They're just having fun." The strip and deep downtown is there to entertain even your craziest fantasy. Where else? I like that about Las Vegas. Come out and party with us.

One of my favorite cities. Completely agree with your last point. We made it a point to see a show every night when we went. Lucky enough to catch some good deals and our first night someone had just won tickets for Stomp as part of a poker tournament. Couldnt go because their plane was leaving and gave us the tickets. Penn And Teller was great. Had to pay for those, but worth every penny. Also there are usual tons of cool things to do at the hotel. We stayed at the MGM and were able to be in a study group for a new TV show coming out. The show we saw didnt last long, but the other show that was being previewed has been on for the past 5 years or so.

It was a major fight event at the MGM. As an inexperienced Vegas visitor I got frustrated on The Deuce w/ traffic crawl on strip back to Downtown where I was staying. Got off at The Stratosphere. Ended up walking from there to The El Cortez at about 1:00 to 3:00 am., A very scary seedy part of Vegas to walk, especially holding a bankroll. Well, I made it to my room, but not without aching legs and blistered feet, as the walk was much further (and more risky than I had percieved).

EG: 1 tshirt on the strip is 10$ (not bad right)Go to Freemont st and get 4 Tshirts for 10$ (the exact same shirts on the strip) BUT you get 4 of them for 10$!That's just 1 example..2) TIP TIP TIP and TIP...

One other thing I do to save on transportation is take the Westcliff airport express bus located on the ground floor #23 and for $20, you get unlimited bus rides for 3 days and great if you're staying in Fremont street which is way cheaper overall than the strip. I would highly recommend that over a taxi. I have also done the showtime tours shuttle for Fremont street a couple of times which has door to door service for $15 and it was ok too.

I was in Vegas with my mom and wherever she could, she gambled. She got free wine and vodka and discounts on some drinks. There were half naked ladies (which was easy to ignore) but was kinda annoying because everywhere you went, someone was in a bikini. It was very cold too. People smoked weed and you could smell it. Someone would smoke, walk past you, and you would smell the marijuana. The drunks were just walking around being crazy. But it was very nice at night walking down the strip and seeing the city lights. They were on all night and people did what they wanted 24/7 like you explained. Nothing really closed, and people never got tired. The food was very good. The MGM grands restaurant was good. But there were other good restaurants. You could experience anything there. Zip line through caesars palace (I thing it was Caesar’s palace it was probably a different mall). I went to new designer clothes shops (Luis. V, Balenciaga). It was very nice in Las Vegas.

Random Toy Fun My personal loves and hates of LA:
      Hates:
      1. Traffic
      2. The urban sprawl and inefficient transit system
      3. The fake people
      4. Dirty
      5. Slightly overrated and pretentious. The food is disappointing
      Loves:
      1. The weather
      2. The beaches
      3. Beautiful spots outside the city: mountains, desert and pacific highway
      4. The cultural diversity and the food (I know I mentioned it in the hates but there are still amazing places, from all over the world)
      5. So much stuff to do: Disney Land, Six Flags, Knott's Berry Farm, surfing, hiking, many museums, shopping, events, you name it...

I know a lot of people absolutely love Vegas. I'm not crazy about that place. When all is said and done, it's main draw is still gambling. Nowadays you can get that same experience just about anywhere without spending a ton of money to get there and stay overnight there. Not to mention the obnoxious crowds.

We stayed at the Monte Carlo now MGM Park for years and not so much now the slots aren’t as loose at that end of the strip as they were, but anyway now we stay at the Treasure Island so going and coming we tell the taxi you get $25 that is it tip the whole thing and they get you there in good time. I dont know about downtown haven’t stayed there since the Grateful Dead and Santana played in 1990.

I'D RATHER PUT IT IN MY CAR, GET THERE FASTER & NOT DEAL WITH STRANGERS & TOURISTS & THE DIRT & SMELL, YUCK. I'M GOOD 👍

we always stay downtown. its cheaper than the strip and the action is right outside the door. we take the bus thing to the strip its an all day pass and way cheaper than the taxi. dont buy anything on the strip soviener wise,go downtown they have the same stuff for much much cheaper. check groupon for attraction tickets. depending on how much you gamble Vegas can be one of the cheapest vacations out there

Take my word for it. Las Vegas is definitely one city here in the US that you do not want to visit! I would recommend staying at a much cheap hotel rather than those really expensive hotels. I would also make sure you guys know to go to much cheaper restaurants to eat at or just bring your own food with you.

Hotel rooms do not have refrigerators or microwaves, so bring a cooler, and don't bring back leftovers from restaurants. Big hotels need to charge for food and drinks, so they frown on you having your own.

Honestly I love to save but I feel vacations you need to save money on the plane ticket, a ride, and the hotel (depends on my mood.)The rest of the money is spent on whatever I have planned.

    • @MPIEMDRailfan4
      @MPIEMDRailfan4 8 років тому

+Kevin Hinojosa Not to speak for woltersworld, but, unfortunately, Tijuana is not really a touristy place. Most people go to Mexico City, Cancun, Acapulco, etc... most avoid the borders with the U.S. it's just too dangerous over there.

    • @baylez4533
      @baylez4533 6 років тому +1

Stop listening to the bs Fox News feeds you! Tijuana, Ensenada, Rosarito but especially Tijuana has changed in the past decade. It's not as trashy and dangerous as used to be. There are so many new restaurants, bars, breweries and entertainment now. Most of the clientele are locals but that's because the gringos keep listening to what Fox News tells them. Believe me ... It's safe than is was a decade ago.

It's true Las Vegas is 24/7, as in something will be open all night. However, not everything is open 24 hours so some bars do close and the retail shops close at standard times because, let's face it, the number of people wanting to by Gucci shoes at 3 in the morning does not offset the cost of operation.
You're right, taxis suck. The hidden gem of the strip are the trams and the monorail that you can use all day for, like, $12.

As a local, I was born and raised here. But yea the city is very diverse. My Dad is from Mexico City, my mom from El Salvador. I grew up speaking Spanish but I also speak perfect english. There are even area in Vegas (especially North Las Vegas) where the communities are purely spanish speaking. The streets are in spanish, the locals are hispanic, and even the stores in those areas are in Spanish.

PEOPLE THAT I'VE TALKED TO THROUGHOUT THE YEARS WHO AREN'T FROM HERE OR FROM THE USA SAY THE SAME THING, "THEY COME HERE TO & FOR WORK" & THAT'S FINE & DANDY, BUT PLEASE DO IT LEGALLY BECAUSE THERE ARE ALOT OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS HERE & IN OUR COUNTRY THAT ARE TAKING OUR MONEY UNLAWFULLY CAUSING JOB LOSS & AN ECONOMIC DOWNFALL IN OUR COUNTRY, SO OUR TRUE AMERICANS SUFFER, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO GET JOBS & I SEE & HEAR IT ALL THE TIME FROM AMERICAN'S TOO WHICH ANGER THEM & RIGHTLY SO & I AGREE, SO PLEASE IF YOU WANT TO LIVE & WORK HERE, GET LEGAL FOR OUR COUNTRY'S SAKE & THIS I PRAY, BECAUSE NOTHING'S FOR "FREE", IF WE AMERICAN'S HAVE TO ABIDE BY RULES, REGULATIONS & HE LAWS AS CITIZENS, WHICH I DO, GOD KNOWS, SO SHOULD ANYONE NOT FROM OUR COUNTRY WANTNG TO BE A CITIZEN HERE, IT'S ONY RIGHT, NOBLE, TRUE, HONEST & FAIR & PLEASE "SPEAK ENGLISH" I SAY BECAUSE THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY NO MEXICO, I ALWAYS SAY BECAUSE IT'S TRUE, GOD KNOWS, FORREAL 😱
