Another lovely job. The inlay is a very nice touch. I enjoyed the bakelite info very much; my grandparents had it in their home: light switches, door knobs, the "wireless (radio)" and so on ❤
I just started watching last month. I love art deco! Truly enjoy the music you put on, background information, and narration is on spot! My grandma had a couple of pieces handed down from her mother. Pricey back then😆😉
I love your channel! You do such beautiful work! You really took this piece to the next level. I know the trend is to take vanities and turn them into nightstands but I love to see you redo a vanity, and turn it into a really glamorous girlie art deco piece.
Thank you! We've done full vanities before, and will definitely do more. So many of them just aren't practical for use today - since you can't sit close enough to the mirror for makeup / hair. But yes, there are cases where keeping it a vanity is better...
Oh, that IS beautiful! How much more that extra detail takes it is amazing. Beautiful work, great art. 🥰Also, thanks for the pronunciation of the name bakelite (bak-a-lite). I was always saying bak-lite. Haha.
I've always wondered if bake-a-like was the correct pronunciation and now I know. :) 3:23 Using a nail punch would make nailing that in a lot easier. 12:19 It's not fluted, it's reeded. I was leery about you painting the pulls gold, but that technique of adding a rubbed black over it really looks good.
Interesting...you took an austere and discreet piece which needed a good and thorough tidy-up to render it a fresh 'Statement' piece...excellent workmanship and well-presented...thank you...however...I would have preferred it if you had left it as it was but cleaner.. dgp/uk
Oh my, what a beauty! Fantastic with your own personality added. You found your niche a long time ago. What I want to know is, do you seal around your tape before you spray them to prevent bleed threw. Or, is taping well with protection, then spraying giving the fine line.
I did a little different drawer reinforcement…. I’ve cut piece to size and then I’ve glued and nailed the thicker smaller pieces to the first reinforcement piece… I’ve nailed it from the side which I glued to the drawer bottom, and than glued the larger piece to the bottom and nailed smaller pieces to the back board …
The glam was returned to this piece of furniture.
You guys are wild. Please continue to post videos. I can't get enough.
Haha, thank you!
Wow, each time I watch your videos I think "Keep it as original as possible". But this looks perfect again.
Nice to hear that, thank you!

I've seen it called fluted... but researched and you're right, it's more often called reeded. So thanks!
@@ArtDecoFurniture Sure thing. :)

Less sometimes is better, yes.
Great job!!! Would love to see your spin on a Eastlake piece.
It's been a while, but we have dabbled in Eastlake.

We seal before we tape to protect the paint or stain beneath it - so that unmasking doesn't pull off the paint or stain.

There are usually multiple solutions. Sounds proper!
Where do you get the Art Deco Strips? I have 2 personal pieces that need them replaced.
👍👍👍

Too golden, in my opinion...
🤷♂️
Why didn't you Dutch leaf the handles? It"s actual brass and doesn't look as cheap as gold paint.
I'm not sure that would be durable enough for a high traffic area like drawer handles, but it's worth looking into.
