Wow. This replicates the sound on the record SO well. I've seen Slowdive a few times since their reunion, and I think this sounds more like the studio recording than they do!
I collect all your wishes and put a list together. Qould love to do all of em but I fear tzat would be too much. Haha - So I'll do the songs most of you guys would like to see.
I busted out laughing at 4:30 because I thought the video was genuinely over since he was ragging on how simple the song was for the performing guitarist.
Hey Kenneth! Thanks for doing this. What settings did you have on the Ms-70 CDR? Is that the only pedal you used? Loving your channel btw! Thanks for taking the time to shoegaze :-)
It’s going to be great having a video every now and then! Great tutorial (: thanks. Kenneth, I also have a Squier Jaguar, how do you find playing with it? Does the strings stay too far from the neck? Does it bother you? Mine feel ok but it’s a bit far from the neck comparing to my Fender Tele for example. Have you, like, brought the strings closer to the neck or is the stock way ok for you? Love your channel! Stay gazin 🎸🎭
Hey Manual, I like the string position to my Jaguars neck quite a lot. Never had any issues with that. But I played a Les Paul before the Jaguar. Maybe the string positions are similar...
Hi Kenneth. Great tutorial thank you. When you scroll through your patch it shows the compressor as being number 4, the CoronaCho as number 3, and so on. Does this mean the compressor is first in your pedal chain, or fourth? There’s so little information about this on the MS50G online. Thanks!
Ahhh Souvlaki Space Station.. one of my first shoegaze discoveries that started it all for me. :) Great job, love the tone you dialed up with the Zoom :) Made a cover myself about a year ago: ua-cam.com/video/nVQ35oXPqiA/v-deo.html List of pedals I used is in the description, for the reverb I think plate works best, and if I remember correctly from my research it's what they used on the record. The famous oscillation part at the end of the song was made by a Boss PS-2 pitch shifter, for my cover I used a Deluxe Memory Man + Digitech Obscura combo for all the oscillations :)
@@khoio149 Hi. :D You are right its not a pure plate, but, at its heart the soft focus patch on the fx500 is a heavily modified plate reverb with adjustable time, which is subsequently split into three paths. One path contains a multi-voiced chorus modulator, another features a well-appointed octave-up mixed in with the reverb, and the third path leaves the reverb untouched. As I didn't have a fx500 around, or any of the newer pedals that replicate it, I tried to combine standalone effects the best I could to get there
@@ForeverChillMan Do you think Hall would do better with this type of sound since there is also another preset is called “symphonic hall” on the FX500 unit?

If you could do a whole series of slowdive songs using the zoom thatd be incredible! I would love to get the tones from alison
do Alison!!!!
awesome video. i really appreciate you getting into the effects settings as well. thanks so much this is so much fun to play!
You're welcome, Daniel. :)

Wow. That is so nice to hear. Thank you!
They don't try to sound live like in the studio.
Nailed it. I listened to this cd a LOT so good job man!!
Awesome breakdown of the song, in going to configure an acoustic version.
Thanks for clearing things up!
Happy to help! And thank you for the kind words.

Whoa this is awesome, hope you can do more, Slowdive tutorials are hard to come by
Thank you so much. Another one is coming next week. :)
@@berlinshoegazer Thank you for making these!
Great job, sounds awesome and just like the recording.
Heck yeah! Hoping yer safe and well Kenneth! I just found my lollicat shirt I bought from you! Still my favorite.
So cool!!! Thanks, I'm fine. Hope you're doing well, too? Makes me super happy to hear that you like the Lollicat shirt so much. :)
@@berlinshoegazer I'm okay over here, and yeah!! I keep it safe with my shirt I got from Tamaryn :)
So good!!!
Thank you, Clayton. Another one is already planned for next week.

This is so nice. Thank you. Hope you're doing well.
@@berlinshoegazer you too. And please make 40 days next :p
Damn I really need at least one looper pedal.....
Awesome video Kenneth! Going to try this with my MS-50 G!
Thanks Barry, happy you like it! There's another one coming next week.
Please do more Slowdive tutorials with that pedal!
Could you do Twisterella by Ride? I haven't seen any in depth tutorial for it. Nice channel!
This video is what I needed. Already subscribed.
Happy I could help. :)
This is really useful, thanks
Thanks a lot. What song would you see next? I'm collecting all your ideas.

HELL YES
I was thinking the other day you should do how to covers. Cool to see you did it :}
I wanted to do this for so long. It's been long overdue. Just uploaded "When The Sun Hits" as well. :)

How about some cool ms50g patches?
Let's fucking goooo
You forgot that the intro of the song gets 4-4-6-4 tome delays and not 6-4-6-4.
That's true! But I wsnted to keep it simple here. But great that you mention it 👍
Amp settings pls :) . Great video :)
How about some cocteau twins tutorial

It might be you’re a little fuzzy on the chords you hear in the recording because they used a pitch shifter
Ah. Right. I didn't think about that. Thanks for letting me know.👌
The 3 note chord is called an "inversion" dude; this one is the second inversion G string root note triad. Triad =1-3-5 of chord.
Thank you for this :) Where are the drums from? I'd like to play along. Thanks!
Hey Jimmy. I programmed the drums by myself. Here is a download link: www.dropbox.com/sh/z4i19g5q8828c16/AADQr7THECJqvXc5MmgKItmza?dl=0
