- R.I.P. Ian Loveday, you have touched our lives with great memories! Thanks for messaging me that you like my fan tribute video back in those Myspace.com days!
Read his obituary at whenthathelicop...
My deepest respect goes out to the creator of "The Spice Must Flow," by Ian Loveday for creating such a groundbreaking track back in 1991!
Please sit back and enjoy and I hope my video lives up to the standard of this classic mega hit!
This is my first made from scratch music video that took weeks to create using "Nero Vision4 software; I layered up to 4 levels of effects and video to obtain the desired look.
huge LOL reading the comments here and realizing we're ALL 50 yrs old now and still listening to this music :)
Your lucky you’re only 50 😂
I'm 50 in July 2024 so I'm still young....
Sand Worm Kitty ❤
The spice must flow , remember tripping off my tits to this
Right on! 90’s EDM still best ever
The new Dune 2020 movie trailer came out today. In my head I was trying to think of that old techno song "The spice Must Flow". I found it, and here I am in 2020.
travelling without moving
Here I am, one day after watching the movie in the cinema. If you're American, you guys are waiting a masterpiece...
@@Brattoes oh yes i look forward to seeing it ever so much
Look up Mr. Kirk’s Nightmare (you’re welcome ;)
Song stays true to test of time !
Just one of the all-time great club songs Generation X was blessed with.
Aboard the night train? See the thumbnail it looks from a crime scene, which crime was it?
I used to work the bar in a crappy nightclub but the DJ would play (me) a few techno tracks before the handbags came out. This was love a at first listen - not sure it ever really got the fame it deserved.
techno has never been the same since pre 96. those were the golden years.
Yeah, they were allowed to be creative back then.

@@spectral_scintillation1612 not till you mentioned it. That certainly does NOT follow the stereotypical formula though.😄
Wasn’t the same after 91/92 totally agree
@@Rich74 the e’s started getting bad mid/late ‘92
They started being cut with with all manner of garbage.
Eon, Altern8, KLF, The Orb, Orbital. And so many more. Such good times.
Omg I got lucky and found this gem. At 52 I'm still raving!
I’m glad I lived with this stuff in real time
THE SPICE MUST FLOW!
☝️
Classic track.. This was one of my favorites...Damn, it feels like just yesterday it was 1992 and dancing to this at the rave... Now in my 50s and look back at my life and smile. GREAT TIMES, GREAT MUSIC
"He who controls the spice controls the universe!" -The Baron Harkonen
It worked when I won for Spicy Texas Chili 2022.
Wow this was played on Mars FM in 1991 ! I remembered recording this onto my cassette tape and lost it and found it on Napster, and lost it again and now it's here! 25 years passed in a blink!
+Cal Li ahhhh someone else remembers MARS FM. Best. Station. EVER.
oh yes Mars Radio, I remember to!
Swedish Egil started Mars FM and also made Groove Radio, check it out www.grooveradio.com
+marsradio I also remember Mars FM and power tools was fire to..man we need another station like that again music on the radio is junk.
yeah I remember >>>Mars
Takes me back to a innocent time in my life. Incredible experiences had every weekend with the most beautiful noises for hours and hours! It was mint.
Me too, but I wasn’t innocent 😊
@J L It was an amazing time, eh! Living life to the fullest! I fuckin loved it.
@@JL-hw6hu same😂❤😂
Ian Loveday = Genius....nothing more needs to be said, the music says it all. The spice will always flow, Ian. R.I.P.
Who's here after watching the epic Dune 2? 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽
The new movie was amazing
Dancing to this banger in front of my kids screaming "THE SPICE must flow...."😂
I was a metalhead in "91 when Iwas tuning the dial on the radio. This was the first tune I heard on MarsFM out of Newport Beach. I fell in love with electronic music from this song on. I no longer listen to this genre (drum 'n'bass now) but it sure does bring back some memories. Good shit
Almost forgot about Mars!
Drum and bass killed the rave, thank fCK or loads of your mates would be DOA
IN 1991 I WAS 22 THIS IS STILL HOT 2019 DETROIT eastside.
Downtown Los Angeles 1:30am standing in line outside an abandoned warehouse in between the train yards listening to the Bass from inside rattle the walls outside. Enter a smoke filled room with blinding strobe lights, and pulsating lazer lights directing 300+ ravers bouncing in unison facing the giant wall of speakers. The unmistakable sound of the nitrous tank filling many of balloons. An experience that will never be duplicated again. Dub Step can't hold the ball sack of that era . EVER!!!
Madd73 Brother, I was there in ‘91. Real warehouse raves were just hitting their stride in L.A. and the scene was intense. Oh how I wish I could go back just one more time.
The mad Hatter Parties!
This is the most 2007 thing I think I’ve ever watched.
We need a remaster for this generation Big Daddy Dave!
LOL, no kidding. took 40 hrs to make and the video software was always crashing. Aw 2007, you will NOT be missed.
This should have been the soundtrack for the new Dune!
Ian and I first met in the US here he was visiting Eugene. I designed a few graphics for him and the first cassette cover which we printed at kinkos copies. I missed the boat when he returned to England with an expired visa. Good times indeed! The demo tape eroded away to nothing, I have a cassette insert still though as a memory. He was beyond most artists that I worked with in a cerebral way. Psiklon
So good! Thats awesome!
Great history. Eugene Oregon? I’m near Dallas OR
First heard this at Club Metro in Cali back in 1991. I was mainly into acid house but this track pulled me into techno. A perfect example of electronic music in clubs during the early 90s. Perfect!
if you can remember exactly, than the CIA created it, no matter, they created pretty good songs!
Wow 😲 Club Metro.
First heard this at Manray, Cambridge Massachusetts
Club Metro, omgs, I had a friend who was one of the dancers there.
The Spice, still flows!
It’s flowin’ again, y’all!
Ah, what a great great shame. Just searched for this great old tune and found out he has passed away. He will be remembered always by me, that's for sure. Magical times and some amazing tunes. RIP dude...
I would go back to these times in a heart beat. Shout out to the old skool raving crew still having it large in 2023!! The spirit never dies 💚💚💚
My brother hooked me to this back in the day, still kicks ass!!!!
I love it when a tune you've not heard in eons pops into your head and you're happy for the rest of the day.
This song was on another level at the club. 1991.
Heard this song first time on the NEW DANCE SHOW in Detroit.
Ahhh, the memories!... I MISS the 90's so much when it comes to music! Let's hope the next decade rocks a bit more. LOVE THE LETO-WORM-KITTEN!!!
This is on my top 20 all time. Nice to see someone showing some respect with the effort of putting a video together. Good job Dave!
It's in my top 20 ❤!!!
This was one of the best dance songs of the early nineties. We would dance all night into the morning.
SOMA, San Diego circa 1991/2.🖤💜🖤
Eon was one of the very first artists that pulled me into this genre. This woman I liked at a record store I used to hang out at said "you got to buy this, today. It's awesome." I did and it took me on this excellent musical journey for years. For years, I yearned for more Eon and to learn more about the artist who created the tracks that stimulated my mind, kept me company, and made me dance but I never had much luck. While discussing Dune today, this song came to mind and I ended up here and noticed your words. Sad. I will be sure to make sure he lives on through his music by sharing with those who will enjoy it. Thank you for posting this.
I think it's got something to do with cabaret Voltaire, or at least one of the members, possibly Richard Kirk? You should check out some aliases on discogs. Ultramarine is Richards Kirk's more fun downtempo stuff
Nope nothing go do with cabaret Voltaire 😂
@@krookeddubtheory Richard H Kirk ... another pioneer that's just left us :(
Steve Masters at SF Live 105 played this song into the ground in 1991.
All the time!
Lol true.
LIVE 105 in the 90s! So great!
OMG that cat is everything.
You are one of the few whom understands it all!
Yesh it is!
The cats name is Spice.the cat Spice is stuck. He must flow.
ALYCE MARTIN but he cannot flow, I am he who controls him.....
Thanks for that, i was a kid....im Brasil...and this were one of the first eletronic music ii discovrerd and enjoed!
‘91 Honda Civic Kenwood head unit, pushing an Orion 2100 HCAA and Hi Fonics Cyclops amps driving 12 MB Quart and Rockford Fosgate speakers and 2 10” Kicker comp subs. All while cruising Whittier and Hollywood Boulevards to this and countless other tunes. Good times!!! Watching Dune as I type.
Wow, finaly found this classic track. Back in 1991 a pirate radio station came on air in Nottingham called 'Rave FM'. I was only 14 at the time and one of my friends at school told me about it. As soon as I got home I tuned in and this was the track playing I'll never forget that day. Spent the rest of the night listening to Rave FM. Oh and within a year (at 15) I'd gone to my first Rave, started smoking weed, doing acid, speed and Es. Now I'm 38 fully tea total but my god were the music, drugs and raves something else back then.
Took me 6 months in 91 and had it imported to Los Angeles. Heard it on Mars Radio LA back in the day I felt the same pain back then trying to find this classic.
+Tim Robinson pretty much the same age/period story, just that here in France there was only one Radio streaming Techno, 2 hours a week. Radio Galaxie in North France, near Belgium (that"s why). Awesome times, awesome tracks. That's real Techno.
Top marks lad, you sure made your young years count
Exscuse me but who the fuck are you to judge? Are you judging one of gods creations?? Drugs were put on this planet for us to explore ignoramus!
@Utopian Websurfer cracking video as well 😀
Just checking in here with all the other old folks, lol. We were so lucky to have been there at the birth of techno. That scene and energy will never be replicated.
Rave till the grave!
The r/OldElectronicMusic subreddit brought me here!
Top tune!
I bought this CD in Houston at Record Rack after hearing the track. I loaned it to so many people over the years that I'm not sure I even still have it. Great tune and cool video!
wow this brings back memories of the old club days
Still takes me back going to nightclubs and Raves in 1991-'92.
2019 the spice is still flowing!!
RIP Spice

Wow this brings back some memories! (very fuzzy, drug addled memories ;-)
Was searching for some long lost classic dance tracks on Google and found this. Pure gold.
Shame I cant dance (much less roll) like that any more and I would look ridiculous if I tried but the memories are awesome and I don't regret a moment of it :)
Orlando in 90’s at The Edge and Firestone! 🔥🔥🔥
I've waited over a decade to find this again. Thank you!
you're welcome. Eon would be pleased. ..
Brings back so many memories.. Classic techno
Still sounds amazing.
Still a banger...
was 16 when this came out and has always been with me
I was 16 also
WOW..this takes me back!!!!!!!!!!!! I learned how to dance to this! AWESOME!
Those were the days, clubbing till dawn...with a whistle around my neck!
Dune 2 got me here. I still have my original 12 inch vinyl copy of this. So futuristic and ahead of its time in the early 90s. The Spice must flow y’all!!!!!
I F*KING LOVE THIS SONG!!!!
changed my life in 1990! from punk to hardcore raver!!!
Some I was sitting here smoking a bowl watching a movie called Dune, and this popped into my head!! Man, I can't believe I survived the 90's! #Limelight
RIP Ian! The most talented unassuming and warmest of people I’ve met. Sorely missed 😢
I remember hearing it at the Bonham Exchange, San Antonio, Texas summer 1991. First time I heard it, I knew I had to have it. As such, I went to WaterLoo Records in Austin and got the singe. About two years ago, I exchanged an email with Ian about his music. I am glad I was able to correspond with him as he was so pleasant. He will be missed dearly!
Wow, talking about the cars in which we experienced this music...it takes me back! I jammed to "Spice" in my 1988 Chevy Corsica...those factory 6X9 rear speakers put out surprising thump! Now I'll download "Spice", and enjoy it in my new Acura TL with the upgraded "ELS" audio surround sound system. Wow, times have changed!
Still a tune of tunes 😜
May he rest in peace for all eternity.
Heard it first on Fantasy Fm late 90" Ian Loveday a legend!
The track that turned me on to underground music in 1991 at 21 years old. Peppers venues in Whittier California
You're welcome. I remember dancing to this in clubs as well. 20 years ago now....

Brings back memories from the rave scene, still got old flyers from the underground scene

The spice must flow...
Right up there with cubik, space gladiator and vortex..banging tune
Lots lots more
came for the spice

indeed; the spice must flow...
Respect. Proud to have few of Eon's tunes from back in the day. Vinyl Solution, west London 90s forever, at least for him now it will never fade away. RIP.
Such an awesome song. Back in the clubs in Houston was hitting hard. Thanks for the flash back
One of the best dance songs ever. Between this and 'Final Warning', I'm not sure which one rocks my world the most. Ian was such a great artist, it's so sad that he's gone from this world. It makes me treasure my copy of "VOID DWELLER" even more. Thanks for the music and the great memories of my youth, Ian! Hope you're rockin' cloud 9.
I am gutted. i used to carry this album in my pocket on an old C90, so that in my deepest mess, i could always feel good, using a tape machine. much missed,
One of my favourite tunes, remember rockin to this in the eclipse Coventry 1990
Genius track. Banging!
This is an awesome track. I'm gonna have to create a game video for this track. I just finished one for the Dominator - Human Resource track. Dominator is one of my favorites from back in the day too and it reminded me of this song "The Spice Must Flow." Awesome video, Awesome Track! Thanks for putting in the time.
Yeah Kick It!!!! Brings back memories, thought I would check it out once again from days of old. Old school raver.. 90-95. :) Stay well everyone!
Yeah, warehouse parties in the 90s, hearing these kinds of sounds for the first time. And before it was all formularized and commercialized. The spice must flow.
