smoke machine on full ...check, stroble light on full....check, acid dropped....check, eon the spice playing on full blast....check, right let's go then
I was 21 when I first ever heard EON- Spice.... and I was hookded, It was 1991 in a little dark underground club called Y NOT in Wichita, Ks played by Sabina and Racine, baddest dj bitches ever... I'm 43 now and I listen to it allllll the time... still feel 21... fkn love this shit... had to go to Denver Colorado to by my first Album...good times...
Around Xmas 2001, my good friend Iain Coxhall, Bibby and myself organised a FLASHBACK event at Bradfords Planet Venus night club, featuring an old-school deejay set by Ian Loveday AKA U.K. rave pioneer EON (22 September 1954 - 17 June 2009) Although there was only a small gathering of people present, it was a magical night and everyone there was totally in awe of having one of their musical heroes entertain them with a top notch set. In my role as sound engineer on the night, after setting up the sound system, I asked EON if there was anything else he needed. He looked up from his record box and said “I wouldn’t mind a Jack Daniels”😅 I obviously didn’t mind, but uncle Bibby wasn’t going to let a drink get served without it being paid for so it came out of my own pocket… Sadly, I am the only one out of the four of us who is still alive, may they all rest in peace💚 As a member both the stereo jazz crew and beat frequency crew on bradfords PCR radio, I remember playing this record to death on air and at the Capricorn club in the early days
Eon was in Eugene Oregon back in the 80s before he had his setup, we met a few times to discuss music theory and ESP based ideas. I was listed as Jade westone on the cassette cover that I designed. Man, wish I had gone back to his country and stayed the course. You snooze, you loose!
My brother used to bump this song in his 1990's Mitsubishi Eclipse. To this day I could feel the bass rattling my teenage brain like crazy. Good Times.
Channel 4 showed a David lynch film one night. Then on a pirate station not long after I heard the most amazing use of my favourite ever ever human league track. The guy who made this music was a genius. Love u Chico & Rosita xx 🧑🎤
I've always loved the edits on this tune. Cutting up all over the gaff. I've always loved this tune. Real old school electro influence on this. 1990 was an epic year. This was out from late summer of that year, well the White label pressing was anyway. The raves erupted when this was played and so did the pirate radio stations' airwaves and pagers! Epic tune.
Steve Jackson, in The Crypt Brixton (a small church basement in the middle of a London park), one strobe, lots of bass and a fuzzy head. The future was there then. So it was.
ain't that many animals besides the occasional human that can time travel... but i have a black cat on par with your doggy. thanks for your share hector. we'll see y'all in the next dimension ;-) xoxo
1990 in the house. First heard this on some London radio. Colin Dale meets Colin Faver. Legends. BASKET case was in the same mix - who said the Dominator did hoovers the best. Heaven!
I just went To buy some drugs in kensal green cemetery, and.came across eons grave and looked him up, hence why now listening to this! Haha! Banging! I love techno but was born in 87 so only joined the scene in the early 2000's, so please forgive my ignorance, but given he created a track like this, I imagine he'd approve of how I came across it....
It's 1990 and I'm in a dark bar and I don't remember with people I can't recall but this song....I remember! But Dune '84 is on RETRO channel right now.
Such a great tune this. I owned it on vinyl back then alongside 'Basketcase'. 3:11 is still to this day the sweetspot for me. Alongside the Human Leagues Love Action synth riff, I'd love to know what other samples he used for that part..especially the background at 3:26 underneath the drum track. Sampling Doctor Who's Sutekh Time Tunnel from "Pyramids of Mars" ep is clever. The Tom Baker days! Can't wait for the new DUNE to be released in late 2021. The Spice...must...flow!
One of the biggest funk carioca songs from the 2000s, called "O Baile Todo" samples this song. And pretty much EVERY SINGLE BRAZILIAN from 2001 onwards knows it by heart and feels nostalgic hearing the beginning of this song
🚥🕺🎵💃🚥original 1984 Dune - is on film 4 UK once again the original in which the sample comes fourth from 🚦💃🎵🕺🚦" HE WHO CONTROLS THE SPICE CONTROLS THE UNIVERSE & THE SPICE MUST FLOW 🚥🕺🎵💃🚥
@@zyxbotcba I WISH I NEW BUT I DONT, still a bad ass tune to this day, so many top tunes around this time, always reminds me of the best dj around for me, dj stu allan, sadly he past away late last year, cancer. he will always be my hero no matter what.
Does anyone know what is up with EON's catalog on streaming services? Spotify has an entry for EON with a pic of Ian Loveday on it, but most or all of the tracks that come up are either some other artist with the same name or they are tracks that might be him, but were released after his death. "The Void Dweller" is entirely absent. That's his most famous album, right? It's the only one I had access to in the early nineties.
I was 20 in 1990 … I m so so so so glad i expériencied these sounds, vibes , rhythms and energy in clubbing. I never forgot the feelings i had 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙌🙌🙌
I was 18 in '92 when I first heard it. But was well versed in Dune...

EON is so damn good. Every mix of Spice. Every mix of Basket Case. And the lesser known Electromagnetic Waves.

This is fine art... that does zero harm. It is a blessing unto all. It is nothing else... nothing more... everything you desire.
One of the hardest hitting, nastiest club beats all time

I’m sure I first heard Top buzz playing this at lower st eclipse Coventry the original midlander place
I had the eclipse gts turbo and god damn do i miss that ride!
HELL YEAH.... I'm having flashbacks and goosebumps..... Still hot after all these years
Listening to this I can still hear DJ Hype on Fantasy FM, a London pirate radio station, cutting in over the top, giving shout outs! Ah 1990.
this used to blow the dance floor UP!
It still does with the old school crowd... the kids dig it too.
a staple in all my DJ sets it still gets them on the floor in 2020!
It always will.
2022 still fire
Checking in 2022 still gets them moving!

This was my favorite song from this album that converted me to techno. Sometime in the mid 90s. The spice must flow!

They played this at a rave in the early '90s and it was amazing! I can still picture it today. Everything was so much better back then. 😢❤
Ah man, so many memories! Loved this album in the early 90's. Remember being at a little warehouse rave in NY and hearing this track......BLISS!
Excellent assemblage of samples and slam! Yes - the dance floor was on FIRE .
Was it still is !

Used to blast this out of Priory Hall in Coventry 91 🤘🏼❤️ RIP J SAUL KANE 😢
On the 12" vinyl the last 2 bars of fx went on forever with the cut designed to put the needle back on an endless loop.
Still makes me jump out of my skin...30 years later
Top 3 record, and the only counter to MARRS Pump Up The Volume, as best track ever. Keep trying to get this good, gents….
The dancefloor would be full yes indeed on the weekends I miss those nights so fun!

Can only wonder what timeless space music the late Mr.Loveday would be concocting out of that unreachable genius brain of his if he were here today.
Spring cleaning & still have the EON Inner Mind &Spice Remixes vinyl made in England! Retro Dune 4EVR!

Why didn't this guy make more music? If I wanna get my friends movin I play this! Great work! Super hard to find nowadays...
Pure flashback trip.
I always liked techno pop in the 80s but didn't quite "get" techno for awhile, until I heard this track in '91. Pure, silly fun.
Original old skool only da best..
Simply the ultimate!
