The same company makes a body filler that will fill in those deep scratches. It’s easy to use as well. Typical body filler you have to add hardener and mix it up but theirs can be applied wright out of the tube. Great job especially with no body work experience and your first time. The key is patience, which you my friend have an abundance of. Good luck!

Curious if you think a spray can from the touchupdirect company would have worked better and maybe filled in the scratches. I bought both for some scratches but haven't decided which one I will try yet. I think I might try the pen like you did then if it looks bad go with the spray of color and clear.

one thing to add, touch up direct also sells a putty compound to fill in those deep scratches. Basically you apply the putty like spackle, let it dry, wet sand it, and reapply until the surface is now smooth. after using the putty and sanding just go through the same procedure seen in the video. The results are great for those deep scratches.

Mine is a 2-inch straight line scratch, and I am thinking about not sanding it and directly apply base and clear coat then polish.

I'd remove the old paint, Bondo, and use touch up direct spray aersol, clear coat, buff it and polish it

I wish I had watched your video before I opened the primer tube today. Like you, I did not realize it would pour out and I made a bigger mess than you. Almost ruined a pair of pants. I think touchupdirect needs to put a BIG red label over the brush side warning people to opening it up in the upward direction. Thanks for the video. I have only done the primer. I will finish it tomorrow with the white paint. My scratch was in the same place as yours, but not as big.

Hi sanders, i have a doubt. Can the same kit and procedure be used for scratches in the bottom of car caused by hitting on the roadside curb while parking? Its tesla model 3. A reply would be appreciated.

wow, that's the best scratch repair I've ever seen.

For the deep scratch, i feel like a little bit of bondo filler and primer wouldve done it perfectly, but who knows, ive only done scratch repairs on regular cars, but i now ill try to repair my scratch on my M3. I just have an open question to anyone reading my comment. Which repair kit u guys think matches better with the white color, DRCHIP, Tesla kit, or the kit on the video.
Scratches happen has been the best pre-made kits I've found for color matching. It's a perfect oem paint code match. Comes with Primer, Paint and clear

always have a spray can with a so so colour for my little scrapes. this looked good. the after picture was a darker shade of white but from afar who would notice? when somebody one day crashes into you their insurance will pay for a new paint job. sold my 9 year old car and had to repaint a bumper which cost me 50 but the buyer won't know I scuffed the car
Thinking of using this product since the factory Tesla white touch up paint really sucks and saw videos of it being silver not actual white. Since you had the product on for a few months do you see any difference in color change yet ?? Or is it still the looking the same?? I want to purchase the product but want to make sure after some driving for months the color still held up.
Great question! It actually still looks great!! We honestly so blown away at how amazing touch up direct is. Quality was our biggest concern and it honestly has been great.
Curious, how come you guys didn't use the tricoat for the pearl white Tesla (base white coat, midcoat metallic, and clear topcoat)? I see TouchUpDirect has the tricoat option for the Tesla Model 3.

Great job! I just scuffed my white Tesla last night not a big scuff but one that needs touch up. Do you know the grit of sand paper they gave you ?

I didn't know what grit my paper was and I have two greys the same color? I have little chips and thought I'd sand them and it made the surrounding paint all scuffed so I had to apply bigger globs of primer. I've found I'm very impatient when it comes to this lol. I should've just cleaned the surface, primed with pen 3x and applied the paint. Oh well. The paint does match super well.

Also I don't understand the tack cloth so that weirded me out. It "removes dirt" but it leaves a waxy residue so wth.

Hi Sanders Crew, I accidentally opened my Model Y's trunk while navigating through the tesla dash and unfortunately hit a wall that was occupying the space behind me. It left a small chip into the paint and I can see the metal of my tesla. Its a very miniscule chip into the paint but i'm just very curious to know if TouchUpDirect could be my solution. Looking forward to your reply! any help would bring my mind to peace.
I'd also like to ask, if I did proceed with TouchUpDirect, Should I go for the brush or the pen?

About a year later, and it's still great!!

You can for sure use this on small rock chips, I had a couple and this worked perfectly
What year is your Tesla? I heard the color is different between 2020 and 2021 Tesla 3 or Y Pearl White.
Ours is a 2018

Those rubber drying towels are terrible for your paint. Get some high quality microfiber drying towels and a drying aid to spray on the panels as you dry. Water is the worst lubricant and will swirl your paint

Sorry, I should have. It actually turned out great.
I used this crap on my truck and it blotched my paint job. The clear coat left white over spray on my truck and the truck and spray paint is blue. A total waste of money

@@sanderslosangeles it is not, I hate to break it to you but it is not. I had a model 3 for 2 weeks and the interior quality was atrocious. The piano black looks spray painted, the carpet has a cutout like it’s some trailer park carpet, the blinker stock sounds like it has broken components, the car sounds like you’re driving with your windows down at 80mph, the door was creaking at 40k miles and the sound system was trash.
Luxury is Audi, Mercedes, bmw.
Crem dela crem luxury is Bentley and rolls Royce.
Tesla is 40 years behind in terms of quality.
