Do any of you know anything about synthetic short Chain hydrocarbons
As the guy who tuned the ESC on this car; with proper snow tires and slippery mode it is really good in the snow. I commuted back and forth to the UP for winter testing in these for years and only ever had issues when the snow depth was greater than the car's ground clearance.

You did good for sure. If you don't get high centered and use common sense (and proper winter tires), this platform has excellent performance in the snow.
I like that we're seeing some modified cars again, but this one is subtle enough on mods it may as well have been stock. There are some really nicely done GT500's that are more like -300lbs and +300hp (which still don't have that much done to them) and it would have been very interesting to hear how they manage their composure when pushed that far.

Fun fact about said film, the villains Jaguar XKR had to have its supercharged 4.2 swapped for an n/a 4.6 2v from a Mustang GT to handle the rigors of filming in the cold, losing 130hp in the process. Sad!
You could also say it gained 300 hp or whatever that engine makes because it was actually running. ;)

Yeah the thing is nuts, crazy how its slower from a dig but on a roll there's not much on sale that can beat it. That doesn't cost more than itself
Its not slow from a dig. Yeah, if your on poor quality asphalt , then both the Shelby and any car its up against, on the ssme asphalt, will suffer the same issues.
Good concrete, or on a drag strip, & your low 11's in poor air. Mid to high 10's in good to great air. Race track surface with great air & your in 10.60's with all stock.
This car tested at 100lbs less on front, should be a tenth qwiker. Ive owned many Mustangs, as have many of youbout there. & this is the very best Mustang Ford ever built, that was available for purchase by the average person.

So they took off the aluminum fenders and aluminum hood for carbon? Probably only saved 5lbs. Some carbon fiber hoods are heavier than the stock hood. I love carbon, but most times aluminum and plastic make more sense.
You are right. But some people just love carbon though.
Yeah the ones that really save weight are the roof and doors. The hood and fenders are decently light from factory

Everything I like comes from the factory and everything I dislike was glued on.

Its a beast for sure, buy I'm a manual guy.
Its a manual transmission. There is no Torque Converter. Uses a clutch for all odd # gears & a clutch for even # gears & reverser. Just install a 3rd pedal w/ a stiff return spring.. Then push the pedal in every time you upshift or downshift using the paddles & pretend your the worlds qwikest shifter.
Or, put in computer shift mode, & use your right hand to pretend there is an imaginary shifter over top of the console. (sarcasm)
Or, just drive it as Ford intended & stop saying calling it an automatic or saying that its not a manual transmission. It IS!
It has 2 clutches & zero Torque converters. It is a manual without a clutch pedal. Similar to a Lenco, Jeffco, Liberty, or a G-Force in CONCEPT of driving. Only better!! It even has a neutral, just like the slower style manual trannys that have a neutral. If you're driving down the road & wanna put it in neutral, do it. Why? Cause its a MANUAL TRANSMISSION. NOBODY THROWS THERE FLOOR SHIFTER automatic in neutral while driving unless they wanna risk an accident. Yes, u can do it. & yes, its dangerous 😳 ☠️.
Dangerous in an automatic. Not in a manual transmission as long as you know how to move the shifter from a gear to neutral.
Yes, I am tired of people saying this car needs a manual transmission thats slower in every way than the manual transmission Ford had built for the GT500, by Tremec.
Call Tremec & ask how they built an automatic without a Torque Converter, if you believe your still correct in your logic.

I'd still rather have a GT350 because of the manual option. There's no way I'm buying a fun car, only to have it shift its own gears.

beautiful car, it's a shame dealers are still charging 50 over msrp for the CF trims. I strongly encourage everyone to leave any gt350/500 engine stock and untuned (this includes headers). my 19 gt350 just had its motor replaced at 32k miles (piston ring seal failure on cyl8)
Was yours modified? Was the replacement done under warranty?
I know you like the colored carbon, but honestly, having it such an obviously different shade of red just looks like someone replaced the hood and couldn't get the factory paint code to me. I think it would have looked better with the standard gray or black carbon, and then the outside lines of the hood stripes being made red instead.
LOL, I couldn't help but wonder if this was a 'mod' or if the car was in a fender bender and they opted to fix with aftermarket parts.

U forgot to mention how much this thing weighs which is OVER 4000 POUNDS it has to be 700 hp to move this house of a car i recently saw a classic 355 Ferrari and just seeing the correct size of a car was a good reminder cars now are getting so big so long and so damn heavy

Think it is a nice exercise in having fun with a GT500. Ok, 100 pounds fine but one of the best diets is change the battery! Yet some was more concerned with only look cool with carbon fiber. Battery one will save 35+ pounds. That's (would be 135 pounds) like kicking half you fat buddy out or not taking your 5',9" GF(of wife) with her Channel purse.
Bingo. This car didn't have a ton of mods so I took it as an opportunity to experience the GT500 and assess it. - ZK

While true the price of the GT500 is far higher than the Termi, a performance pack GT of today blows away the old terminators, for less money adjusted for inflation.

They’re great in America and at the price sold in America, but I’ve got to be honest when I’ve driven them (usual GT etc models!) as rentals, sadly they don’t stack up when imported into Europe as RHD or importing an American spec car and sorting it out so it’s legal to use😔
I still find the interiors cheap quality wise sadly sadly, but match price level in America and I’d say good value there, and much better than they used to be!!!!
And still way way too heavy but that’s a all car problem, except a rarified few (yes I even think my Porsche is overweight and it’s all of 1485kg’s!)

I like carbon fiber, but don't really like it on this car. Of course, this is just my opinion.
7:54 the brake disks must be ventilated on a 750 hp car. Even from 3-400 hp you need ventilated disks. Those hole-less disks don't look like they could brake more than once from those big speeds you have mentioned.
edit: all the other brands (Audi, Mercedes AMG, Porsche, Lamborghini, McLaren, Ferrari) that make big power engines have those drilled disks. It's weird seeing these simple disks on the Shelby GT500 like on
The holes don't actually do much for cooling. That's the point of a vented rotor these days. All the holes do is take away the friction area area and create a weak spot to crack.
Vented is not the same as "has holes in it". Ventilation is internal to the rotor. Theres space between the front and back faces of the disk, and air is naturally pumped between the two faces. What you're thinking of are "drilled" disks.
@@mitchellsteindler we actually asked and nonvented was way better why they got rid of them on the gt350s and r just created weak spots
you should watch some track vids of the 500. it's brakes work and last just fine and are way cheaper to replace which leads to more track days and less money spent
