@@ForgotToMentionThat I actually wouldn’t say that. Minivans are very good for extra headroom, more storage space, and in a lot of cases, a third row of seats (which is not the case in the 2er Active Tourer). My three uncles have minivans, and they’re very versatile. They currently have an Opel Zafira Tourer (which is called the Vauxhall Zafira Tourer in the UK), Volkswagen Sharan and Ford Tourneo Custom. Very good for getting the job done.

I was torn between an X1 or a 220i active tourer. Went for the 220i. Order is in, delivery due end of April. Still not sure if I made the right decision
Having owned a Xsara Picasso for many years, looking for its eventual replacement is a difficult one. Having mobility issues to my left side means a car with good access is paramount. The Picasso has a flat floor and no sill to lift your feet over which works brilliantly. I have been keeping my eye on the previous BMW Active Tourer as its attractively priced but it seem more estate car than mpv. Practical but maybe not practical enough for those like me with mobility issues. Most suv's are too big.
We have had early Picasso’s for years, and Annabelle has mobility challenges, it’s not quite as versatile storage in floor, seat config, however we found it very good, far quicker too - best bet test drive one.
@@PlanetautoUK I will keep a look out for one locally and give it a closer look. Strange how mpv"s have become unfashionable over the past 5 or 6 years. May explain why the C4 picasso in later forms are so expensive. Cheers :)
The reviewer said the only other car-based MPV was from Mercedes. Not true… there’s the VW Touran which is the best MPV by far. 7 seats, more storage space, and still a modest footprint. Good engine, and classier interior.
The 2 Series active tourer was always the ugly duckling of the BMW range almost to the point where I’d say it wasn’t a BMW but I kinda like this new one.
Not only Mercedes’ and BMW make MPVs. You missed out VW which still make the Touran, which is excellent. Oh and Ford and Dacia. Not exactly thorough car journalism.
beautiful car , I will however not entrust my well being in software, a mechanical handbrake or gear stick or ignition key as failsafe, remains a must for me.
And sorry only Merc B class and this are MPVs? Dacia jogger.....ford galaxy.....VW touran.....then you have all the van based MPVs which are the real deal. Who wrote this piece?
Only two mpvs? Very touran, ford smax/galaxy, peugeot 5007, Dacia jogger etc. A BMW active tourer is a SUV alternative. Hyundai Tucson is a SUV not MPV. Very inaccurate piece
Sad news: It’s a New BMW Model with design of 1998 Good news: There are better alternatives on the market for a lower price rate and way more storage space available. Objective news: MPV market is dead.
If I couldn't see it in this video I wouldn't believe BMW would make a car quite so ugly. An absolutely hideous mess of a machine. Thank the Lord nobody buys this crap.
Love mine. It’s been a brilliant car. Great to drive and superb packaging. Wouldn’t have any other BMW over it.
what engine? I want the new x1 but undecided on engine.

I think the death of the minivan is quite worrying, cos minivans are quite versatile vehicles.
I really thought that you would say that its worrying because that would mean many families aren’t being created…

There's one of these appeared locally with a numberplate ending "YUK" and I've never seen a more appropriate numberplate in my life.
A fantastic MPV, with love it or hate it styling.
it seats 5 people and its not as big as an estate car, i dont understand how this is classed as an MPV its just a hatchback.

Why isn't there going to be a seven-seater Gran Tourer version this time like there was with the previous generation?
7 seater MPVs are of the past, they’ve already got the BMW X5 available as a 7 seater and the X7. Wait til the next X3 comes with a 7 seater option

Looks excellent. Quite fancy one of these but put off by that awful display and lack of physical buttons for essential controls.
Looks superb overall, however not have a massive boot and can’t see any rear passenger table trays means it’s not as practical as older MPV’s.

There is a lot nice mpv, in fact kia karnival with 3.5 petrol engine one of the coolest, but most of them for American market
I like the HONDA ODYSSEY more than the KIA CARNIVAL because of its quality interior.
This is a fantastic car, love everything about it
At the time this was published Ford's Galaxy and S-max are still listed on their UK website...
What I need is a small and tough little truck that has the BMW badge for daily use in Madagascar.

Surely too small for america ? Haha

Vauxhall make the Zafira MPV. So actually there are at least 5 manufacturers

The new BMW X1 looks better tbh
Smart.
what is the point of this car honestly? boot smaller than Octavia, 5 instead of 7 seats? also M SPORT on MPV? lmao, seriously?

It doesn’t offer anything more than a slightly lofty driving position, at the sacrifice of stability, over a golf estate.
