Okay so a few people want Milliseconds rather than Frames so.... I'll make a custom preset soon! I'm away for a few days but i'll get it done when I'm home and release it (free) on Ko-fi! Stay tuned!
Exactly what I needed for a project where I needed a clock like you would see on the news in the corner. Had to crank the Start Offset pretty hard but it's doing the trick. Thanks for the tutorial!
Are you a teacher away from video editing as your teaching flow is so well paced. You voice also compliments your "go lucky" style and from a Brummie as well, Amazing!
Great Video, helped a lot and shows better the possibilities regarding starting time etc than the quick and dirty version shown in other videos. Keep it up👍👍
Oh man, I've been doing it the hard way all this time! [changing the write on settings instead of the Modifiers tab]. Thanks, Alex! And that reverso trick, brilliant! :D
not for this video but in general alex you are a f amazing underated f youtuber, like holy shit i open the video i get exaclty what im here for nothing less nothing more, you cover everthing needed fast simple clear neat holy shit, honestly thank u so much i only discovered this channel recenetrly and i wish i had money to donate you well deserve more than just likes and views
how about 10ths and 100s of a second instead of frames after the decimal? Hard to imagine any scenario where the viewer cares to count frames, and they'd pretty much always expect the decimal to be an actual decimal
Great video and very helpful. 👍 I'm still looking for a way to display the real timecode, let's say my footage is 20 minutes long and I use a part of the clip from 10:30 to 11:30, I want to display this time without typing it manually. Can this be done? I think I just didn't find it...
been struggling with this for hours. timecode insists on restarting at 0. change TC source in project settings but no luck. I want to use segments from a 6 hour video and use the start time of each segment and count from there; many segments
Great video, only I have two questions. First, can you change the frames to decimals? I feel this should be possible with expressions. I haven't figured out how though. And second. Take for example the mountain bike run you used, but you don't want to show the full two minutes. you just want the start, a section in the middle and the finish. But the timer to still be accurate. I feel this can be done with cutting a compound clip, I just haven't tried it yet.
Bingo! just cut the compound clip and that'll do it :) Also yeaah, I'll work on a plugin that'll do ms rather than frames (plus I'll add some extra goodness to it!)
Great video Alex. I’ve used a simple timer once before, but the additional tips will be very useful indeed. I’m going to use it to remaster one of my GoPro videos where my dad was doing laps of a race circuit on his motorbike by adding the lap times to the screen 👍🏼😁
Forgive me if you have already answered this somewhere but - what if I want to have a 3 minute countdown that does NOT show a zero before the 3? In other words "3:00" not "03:00". I have selected only minutes and seconds in Fusion but don't see a clear way to eliminate that leading zero.
Alex, many thanks for this but PLEASE do make a video about the Transparent GIF exports with Alpha Channel, so it would have clear / empty background for it to be used with another projects and platforms... many thanks again!
@@MrAlexTechthat will be as GIF files, I don’t know if I’m wording it right but yes, videos to be exported as GIF files but to have Aloha channel for clear / transparent background. Many - MANY thanks in advance!
Thank you for all the useful tutorials. Can you tell me how to make count only minutes and seconds but like football . Lets say 1 hour and half to show it like 90 minutes. How can i do that?
If you simply turn off the Hours (as shown in the vid) and then the counter will continually count in minutes. So then make it 90 minutes long and it'll show 90 mins, rather then 1:30 :)
Hey Alex Thanks for all your great tutorials. Instead of time code, you cannot change the time code to show distance. I am wondering if it can be changed so that you can see how many meters you have driven? I have some drone footage and would like to be able to show how far I have flown.
How to make the frames to go from 0 to 99 as 100th/s or 10th etc. frames don't have use anywhere else but video editing, timing a bike run doesn't make sense if the least significant value is frames.
Is it possible to export alpha channel videos with transparent backgrounds like After Effects can? Would be great if Davinci could do that so then I could export a timer and then overlay it to live video such as in a broadcast scenario.
Hi, yes it is. MrAlewxTech didn't do a tutorial on this subject yet, but e.g. Casey Faris did. Search for "Casey Faris How To Export Transparency In Resolve"
Hi Alex, How do I do this with showing 10th's of a second (and not frames).... Need to show a car's 0 to 60 time...... Thanks for your concise video btw, it always helps. I copied more of your videos into my DR Howto YT Playlist than any other creator....
hi, for a person who want to start learn video edit now, you offer premiere pro or davinci? which one has more project or more options for doing projects? especially freelancing projects. what is your choice for me? do you offer learn premiere pro + afe or davincii + afe or only davincii enough. thanks.
Great tutorial. However, I sped up my timeline, and the timer no longer increments smoothly. It also keeps displaying the counter, after the playhead moves past the end of the compound clip. I'm running this on a M3 Macbook pro with 128gb ram so I dont think resources are the problem. Apparently Resolve is not able to deal with a speed increase of 3000.
What I've always been wanting to create is for long duration time-lapses, where I can enter the start date/time and the end date/time and it creates a date/time throughout the time-lapse. Any ideas?
Totally unrelated question, but I’m trying to create an efficient workflow where I’m editing footage (11 long-form interviews) in a language I don’t speak. I transcribed and translated everything in English on a separate platform and imported each interview with the subtitles into individual timelines. I’m currently creating in/out points in timelines to find the right dialogue, going back to the source clip viewer, then inserting on my master timeline so that I preserve the subtitles. I feel like there must be a more efficient way to do this, but I haven’t figured it out. Any chance you know anything about this? Thanks!!
@@Grailfox_Racing_Trio I guess I quite naively replief to this with a link to some other channel but I see Alex mentions that he has done one with milliseconds. Might be worth searching his videos Library

Oh wow. Actually have a project coming up that this would be PERFECT for. Thanks so much!!
