I purchased this unit (Ambient Weather WS-2000) a little over 2 years ago (August 2019). It has been a phenomenal unit - had an Accu-Rite previously, really no comparison. Anytime I've had an issue (sensor not displaying info) the customer support is top notch. Mitch talks about the display a lot - I don't use it too much I like the desk top site or mobile app.
I’m definitely leaning towards getting one of these units to mount near my raised bed garden. I’m in SC also; in the upstate. Enjoyed your video very much. Go Tigers!!
I have a ws5000 aka the one with the Sonic anemometer and OMG this thing blows Accurite away by a mile all the different sensors you cans add to the station makes it a whole lot more worth the money
Thanks MItch!! Any updates on long term trends would be great….I live in the NH mountains and this winter is utter worst, utter warmest ever. We are near to having our grass showing which is totally unheard in early/mid Feb….we need some snow later this month!!

Is the rainfall rate on the screen live? Like for example if you get a heavy downpour will it say for a second that it’s raining 3”/hr even if the downpour only produces 0.5”?
I would be curious to know how you were able to change the name of your indoor sensor? I’ve added other sensors and located the area to change the names of these channels but the Indoor sensor is not listed there.

So basically it’s calculating if it maintains a level of intensity as far as rainfall, then it would technically rain 3 inches in one hour.

I’d think so. I’ve never had a mobile hotspot to be honest.

an old am radio makes a great lightning detector.
Does this unit work without WiFi?
Yes, but you can’t connect it to any devices (like see weather conditions at your house from another location)

If I want to (temporary) mount and use this while out boondocking in my RV, I would have to have a WIFI router?
If you want to be able to check out conditions away from where it’s mounted, then I imagine you would.
Set your phone up as a wifi hotpot. That's what I do.
How accurate are these in direct sunlight?
Pretty accurate, issues can come up if it’s set up over a surface that radiates heat
