*Also, it is recommended to calibrate it like it says in the manual, I just haven’t yet. It’s something I plan on doing in the coming weeks*
I got my station a few days ago. Love it. Very easy set up. Installed it on my dad’s barn out back up about 30 feet off the ground. I was wondering if you have any experience with their camera they offer. A lot of the reviews says they had issues connecting so I was hesitant
Great video! How do I change the sensor's name from WH31SM that shows on my console, to my own description?
I think that the sensor should be placed south of that tree. This way you will have more contact with the sun and the measurement will be more precise.
If would be great if it also read soil temp so I would be able to predict weather snow will stick to the ground or just melt
hey Mitch thanks for this video! I got my own WS 2000 because of your review!
That’s awesome! I’m glad it helped!!
oh yeah I would be interested if you ever reviewed indoor and or outdoor air quality meters and would be interested if you ever reviewed either the WS 5000 or just the ultra sonic wind sensor and the larger rain gauge and compared the accuracy between the larger and smaller rain gauges.
I haven’t!
Does the sun and cloud symbol in the lower right change with weather conditions.
Where i am located yes.
This suckers are still out of stock. Are you going to do a follow video Mitch? curious how they are working for you
I haven’t thought about it! Honestly, it’s been pretty solid for me, no complaints.
Hey there, where did you buy your WS2000? Also do you know the differences between the 2000 and 5000? I’m leaning towards the 2000. I want to add a lightning, pool, and air quality sensors to my system. Can you advise please? Thanks
Amazon! and you can add all those things on the WS2000
How to add auto water system with this sensor ?
Hi dude!
I have the same system. I did calibrate mine soil sensor before start using them. It gives me more accurate measure of the soil moisture.
Anyway, thanks for the video.
Cheers from Norway.
Good man! That’s definitely the way to go!
how you calibrate?
I bought a combo and my sensor doesn't blink 4 times when I put the battery in, any idea why? I sent them a email and was hoping you would be quicker since they have yet to reply
Man I'll be honest, i made this video a while back and mine no longer is used. I don't quite remember what was done to get it going. If you have facebook, ambient weather has a great facebook page with a ton of people that help troubleshoot things, i would check that out.
If you add more than 1 soil moisture sensors, where would those register on the console? Just curious. I want to add one in the front yard and backyard.
Jim S. Same spot, would likely switch back and forth.
Hi Mitch! If you had to update firmware for the lightning detector, wouldn't that be good for the soil moisture as well? I updated for the lightning detector and that was good enough for the air quality sensors too.
Yep! Should be good to go!
The air quality sensors, both indoor and the outdoor ones are fantastic! So interesting to see the changes throughout the days.
Jim S. That’s next on my list!
Mitch I know this post is several months behind the review- I also have a WS-2000 with al the sensors with exception to the PM25- One thing I found very frustrating with the WS-2000 is the inability to keep recording data in the event of a power outage- while the cheaper 2902 has a onboard battery for circumstances. case in point last evening we had a strong storm with nasty straight line winds, my last recording was 47.7 MPH, the power went out several minutes later they got MUCH worse- probably 65 or so there still doing a survey as there was much damage. It would have been nice even though power was out that the console was still recording data which could have been recalled via the app - my solution was to purchase a small UPS (battery backup supply) like you would use for a computer system , since there isn't much draw on these from the console it should stay powered for a long time, the other benefit is some also have a USB charging port great to recharge your cellphone in such an event. enjoy the videos and content- all the best - I also have mine reporting data to the Ambeient CWOP program and being able to upload that data even later is beneficial-
Hey, thanks for the comment! I actually owned a 2902 before i got the 2000 and i loved it. It just eventually after a couple of year got beat down. So I was able to upgrade to a 2000. I do know what you are talking about though, i actually never synced any of my data off of mine so I actually have to go back to my weather underground data to look at past weather.
@@MitchWestWeather The problem isn't with sync data the problem with WS-2000 series its the lack of being able to see data when a power outage occurs (only issues I have with it) is the lack of a battery backup in the console in the event of power outages- I really like the WS-2000 band for buck/hands down my opinion best unit for the money in regards of what you get and the ability to add other sensors- the NO battery in the console is the downfall- but easy to resolve via a UPS..
I'm struggling to get both of my soil moisture sensors added to the hub, I can only seem to get 1 soil moisture sensor channel registered, anyone got any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
I wish I did! I did this so long ago that I couldn't remember the process unless I went back & did it all again. I recommend getting on Facebook & searching the Ambient weather page community. There are a ton of people on there that could help.
Does soil moisture and lightning strikes show up on weather underground? Also can extra outdoor thermometers show up on weather underground?
They won’t show up on weather underground
Do they have a probe that tells soil temp?
Not that I know yet.
How long does the battery last?
Great question, I actually put the ones they recommend, and for me, it lasted around 7-8 months.
@@MitchWestWeather Thanks for the quick reply, Sorry If I woke you. I am looking at the Ecowitt WH51. It looks to be the same thing and is on 915mhz. DO you know if it will work with the WS2000? It is a lot cheaper.
Off first thought, I don’t. But on the ambient site, it will list if it’s compatible or not. If you don’t find out, I’ll look in to it here in a bit!
These pieces of garbage don't have a watertight cap. Water gets in and the batteries and sensor go bad. Stupid design. How much could it cost to put an o-ring in them. One of four of mine quit in less then a year.
