Who wouldn’t want to pan with Candace, very nice. Also you don’t need a Blue Bowl, a Garrett Super Sluice Pan with it’s deep ridges will get rid of the majority of black sands. Not quite sure why all you video gold prospectors swirl your pans to reveal the gold. Just tilt and fan it, shows up better and much quicker. Anyways great video and well done with the gold, Thanks

Score, looks like a great day on the river running the sluice-box. Heavy pans.
Nice day out on the Yuba Jerry, good gold and good company. I liked that test pan you did. I see that you use a vacuum in the crevices, I too use one and I have a trick I would like to share with you, maybe you can try it out. I get a thick Surgical tubing about 3/4" I.D. about 12" long to fit over my vac. nozzle and after you scrape the crevice with a crevice tool you can put in the nozzle with the tubing and vacuum out the crevice pretty efficiently, it's flexible and can get in the crevice where the nozzle can't go. It works really good for me. The tubing is really strong and it's hard to cut and can get it on Amazon. Let me know what you think and if you try it, let me know how good it works for you. The vacuum I use is a DeWalt 1.5 gal, it's small but very strong and easy to carry. Thanks for the great vids, and keep them coming. Hopefully some day i can meet you out there on the river. Sergio... I too have the DeWalt 1.5 gal 18v vacuum that I use for crevising... GREAT suggestion on the tubing to extend the flexibility and reach of the standard nozzle. I'll get some and try it out when I can! Heavy pans. Randy "C-17A"

Lot's of gold in California. The gold rush ended for political reasons. Due to new strict regulations and rules. Not because the gold was depleted. Just imagine what you can do In some of these rivers with the modern tools we have today. A simple 4 inch dredge and a diving suit in the right locations can yield awesome results. The gold is still there.

Is it legal to just drop into a creek with a pan or sluice box? Just asking so those watching don’t get into hot water if we try our hand at panning some day.
T Ho... Well, it ALL depends... BIG differences as to what is "legal", what you you can and can't do depending on private property, federal public land, state land, in federal and state parks and recreation areas, what state you're in, etc. Due diligence and research and asking around is the key to knowing what's "legal" and what the given rules may be for a particular river, area, park, etc. Also, even IF on federal public land, is that area open to claiming (mineral entry) and is it already under claim by others. IF you are on private property, you can pretty much do what you want as to prospecting and mining, on a "small" scale. If you decide to turn your private property ops into a big commercial setup that usually means zoning considerations, permits, bond money, environmental studies and a LOT of cost and hassle today. IF on federal land, like U.S. Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management land in say the 13 Western states, it's important to know if that area is "withdrawn" from mineral entry (claiming) or prospecting/mining and if so, why... Could be closed for endangered species habitat, could be designated wilderness area, whatever... If not withdrawn, is it already under claim? You'd want to first look for any claim monuments at the corners and claim signage, also contact the local/regional field office of the USFS or BLM and inquire, as well as go to the county recorder's office and look for filed claim paperwork that makes it a matter of public record for any/all to see. Even IF it's not under claim, the state (like California) may have enacted state-wide bans...like suction dredging or power sluicing bans in 2009. Their laws are unconstitutional, as they "preempt" federal mining law, which allow claim owners to use powered ops, but they get away with is because we have a failed court system today full of liberal judges that don't care about the U.S. Constitution. :( Also, normally, any national park or state park has VERY restrictive rules, normally prospecting is completely prohibited, or "hands and pans only" ops at best. Ask at the park office or ranger station. State recreation areas can also be VERY restrictive, normally allowing hands and pans only ops at best. Example: The Auburn State Recreation Area in California used to allow "casual use" ops, meaning no motorized/mechanized equipment, but all hand tools, buckets, sluices, pans, etc. In June of 2018 they changed their rules and now ONLY allow hands and pans ops. This is effectively an ASRA-wide ban on gold prospecting on 40 miles of NF and MF American River and their 42,377 acres of federal land managed by California State Parks as the ASRA, as you can't do jack shit really with just a pan and your bare hands. BUT, locate the ASRA boundary and get onto say USFS or BLM land and if not under claim, not protected in some special way, you can do casual use ops, with sluices, hand tools, pans, etc. Like you see Jerry and Candice doing here in this great video. Research, ask around, be well informed. Always leave the river/area cleaner than you found it. HTH. Randy "C-17A" :)
