- I've been looking for the perfect Dashcam For my Jaguar XK8 for quite some time. I want one good enough to produce UA-cam footage and I want it to be unobtrusive and work with the extreme rake on the windshield.
In this video, I unpack install and test the VIOFO A119 Mini 2.

Thanks John. Fitting a dashcam to my XKR was on my to do list - so thanks so much!! Great content as usual. Your attention to detail is exemplary.
Great how-to John, the footage and audio are both excellent - I think you'll convert a good number of people to buying one of these, including me. This is the first time I've watched a hard wire installation tbh and you made it appear easy - I've never seen those piggyback fuse holders before, what a great thing they are.
Viofo made a very wise marketing decision in giving you one!
Brilliant, I have just ordered one can't wait till it's here.
Great review and install demonstration. I appreciate the details. Thank you for preparing and presenting the information. Viofo looks like a great product.
I think you are reading my mind at the moment John. First the bonnet release vlog, now the mini 2 dash cam I’ve been considering 😀
Look into my eyes. Not around my eyes, into my eyes. @@😵💫. 🤣. Hope you enjoy the Dashcam vid Gary

Hi John. I finally got around to fitting a dashcam. As it's taken me so long, Viofo have come out with the VS1 mini. It's even smaller now but still with the Sony Starvis technology. I followed your excellent instructions pretty closely and I must say, the installation went extremely well. Thanks again for your dedication to these fabulous cars!
Thanks for the info!
Fitted mine this weekend John. I used the spare power supply behind the glove box.
Highly delighted with the Viofo, and great service from them too.
I gave you a name check with them too.
Thanks again.
Fantastic! I hope you continue to enjoy it👍
Thanks John. An added benefit that I hadn't thought of is fault diagnosis.
I find that my car sometimes has a big hesitation when changing gears on kickdown. I think it is to do with the gearbox not being sure what to do.
It is hard to describe but my mechanic should now be able to hear it!

Hope he can help you out👍
Thanks John very helpful I think I will get one for my XJS Andy Allen.
Glad to help

Fantastic video, very informative and helpful. Great quality product and great quality footage. Ten out of ten, thanks for sharing!
Although no jag anymore john I still enjoy all your videos.keep on keeping on!cheers Gareth.
Thanks Gareth. You are still a gent, despite being Jagless.🤣
Yet another great video John. I have a Nextbase dashcam that I have hardwired into all my cars. Like yours, why on earth are they designed to slide off the GPS unit making it difficult to swap cars? I found that the concealed wire in the header rail of my x100 buzzed irritatingly until wrapped in soft foam tube. Did you manage to get the transformer below the dash ok without relaying the cable up the A post and along the header rail? 🤔
See you at Gaydon John.
Well done again John! I fitted a Viofo A129 Duo to my Jaguar EPace over 4 years ago and it has performed perfectly. I have been toying with the idea of one for my XK8 for a while. You have just confirmed my thoughts and have decided the model for my XK8. Just one thought for the future... will the always on mode produce battery drain on our pernickety cars? I have that on my EPace but the battery system often tells me that my battery is low despite the highest voltage setting on that little controller. It's never flattened the battery but I just get the warning. I use a battery conditioner on both my cars so it's never been a seriius issue. It would be interesting to see how that always on feature goes with your XK8. Now to add a dash cam to my father's day ( soon in Australia) list!
Hi John, fantastically detailed video as always. Did you consider using the accessory socket above the glove box, or did you already use that for something else?
Hi @andrewgraham4838 Thanks
I have the incredibly rare xk8 rechargeable torch option so this supply is already in use
👍
Hi John, Brilliant and informative video as usual. The camera looks good. I have a Nextbase camera in mine. The only comment I would make is that strictly speaking you are not suppose to put anything in the swept area of the screen that impedes the view. A picky copper or MOT man might knock it for that. I mounted mine on the other side of the interior mirror so that's not an issue for me
I hope you'll be filming the trip to Gaydon John. Just a week to go buddy!
A good idea .
Ah yes of course. I forgot! Otherwise would you recommend it as a dash cam power source, or go with the simpler fuse tap method?
Running two separate dashcams isn't all that inconvenient.
It also has the potential to give you better resolution since most dual channel units run 1080p on the rear camera.
🤔. Hmmm food for thought👍
Gotta recover those A pillar covers.
Yes GV. I have just made a mental note. I just need to pick up some appropriately coloured cloth.
Help. Is it possible to get a manufactured xkr 1999 crankshaft pulley. I am trying to find a company that makes crankshaft pulleys. Any help is appreciated
What about if you have several vehicles and want to use this cam in each one randomly?
Then its a poor choice. That is a limitation of this model for sure👍
Hi, John, this is definitely a good recommendation, but I was afraid that this camera would be stolen from my convertible. Greetings Udo.
It clearly shows that you can easily remove the camera from the GPS base so that you can put it somewhere secure...
