One advantage this bike has is that it is very comfortable on the disastrous UK roads, which pretty much essentially ARE off roads = the numerous pot holes and imperfections on the roads, it takes them easy and you don't feel them as you would on any road bike
That's very good to know as there's a lot of bad roads where I'm at in the U.S.
How's do you think the seat would feel after say 2 hours, given that it has less padding than the L model? My dream is to a bike trailer to the western states but then take some lengthy rides on forest service roads.
Heh saw that unit when I was getting that rally from Charlie. Nice drive back from scen'dy. I should have sat on that LS while I was there but very happy with mine.
Putt lighter exhaust system on so much wasted extra weight there
I LIKE IT.. 👍👍
Watching you ride in the grass. Great. No show n tell for the small but seemingly convenient cargo box. No mention of how it performs on the highway. Can it maintain speed at 70mph or higher? Is it stable at a higher speed? Didn't learn much here.
Go look up all nine billion videos about the CRF300L and its highway capabilities
What is the seat height and size of the fuel tank?
Just curious how do you drive a motorcycle???
This is the best review I've seen of this bike that goes over all the features and functionality, well done! I'm trying to decide between this and the XR150L. Want a bike primarily for riding ranch acreage and trails, and puttering around my large neighborhood, and occasionally leaving for rides on adjacent 65mph national park roads. My concern with the CRF300LS is that it's going to less nimble than the 150L. But I think it's more capable for leaving the hood on the higher mph roads, so I'm kind of stuck in between the two trying to choose. I'm an experienced touring cruiser rider with this being my first dual-sport purchase. Would appreciate any advice, thanks.
If you’re an experienced rider go 300L! The 150 will leave you wanting more. Better suspension/ better gearing for higher speeds as well. Fuel injection makes a huge difference as well between the two
Take look at the xt250
Nice! How tall are you and where was this? I'm ready to get one soon. This video was just what I was looking for on this bike! THX!
New York Albany area. I’m about 5,10 rides really nice quick bike for sure
is it gutless
How did Honda lower the LS? Is it just a lower seat?
The lowered the suspension travel in the front by almost an inch and in the back by 1.2" -- and thinned out the seat, apparently -- so this bike is a hair less offroad-capable in terms of suspension than the 300L, with stock suspension. If you hit the trails hard, just upgrade the suspension -- you're good, as long as you're in the proper weight range for this rig. Huge dudes shouldn't be riding one of these.
This is by far the lightest and torquiest bike you can find. You have to break in the engine to know the full potential. It gets 70 miles per gallon. It's a great bike. My only observation which is a relative truth, based on other bikes I ride, it's balance confidence in terrain is not to my liking compared to others. That doesn't really mean much as its all about the rider, but it was my observational complaint. However, the ability to reach 70mph is important in real world conditions and the torque in lower gears is great for off road.
What Nick did not mention but was also seen in his video: the tubes running across the screen totally block the view, if you want to know how fast you are going you have to use one hand to sway off the tubes...totally unsafe in my view !
I just go my brand new CRF 300 LS some weeks ago in Germany; the tubes running in front of the screen are really quite annoying ...even the salesperson was laughing about it but did not dare to touch it for warranty reasons...since then I am fighting with HONDA but they say it is "normal" and could not be changed...not HONDA quality as I expected
I have a 300 L and the brake line is really not that obstructive might have to move a little to see you but not a big deal
Drama queen.
Thinking about getting one of myself and I see what you're talkin about I'll just get a metal rod bend it forward and zip-tied to hold the lines out the way.. if it ever has to go in for Warrant work just cut the zip ties and remove the rod
Dude i agree with you! Ive never seen that on another bike and frankly for honda to be doing this its trashy. You don’t leave the wiring loom off your car on the dash so why would they leave the brake line there??
How about the suspension? The biggest complain about the CRF300 series is the too soft suspensions . Has Honda changed the suspension on this lowered model or made it stiffer?
It's too soft for tough Enduro riding but for the normal rider with casual dirt roads and single tracks (which makes up probably 90% of the buyers) it's perfect. Unless you're an aggressive rider using your bike for jumps and high speed offroad, it would be a mistake to change the suspension.
Always ask yourself what type of rider is reviewing a certain bike. His needs might not be the same as yours and his setup might not be the same you need.
@@spring9603 The reason why I asked this question is CRF 300's springs are too soft but as you said this doesn't affect too much because there is a decent suspension travel. But Honda lowered this LS models from suspensions; that means suspension travel decreased. If Honda didn't make LS models' springs more stiffer, it will bottom out easly. That's what I was wondering about. I would like to buy this LS model because I need a lower seat bike.
@@user-iw8tz9zf9k makes sense, hopefully someone whom has the LS variant might say something about this.
@@user-iw8tz9zf9kit’s way too soft I added a spring to the other fork upfront and changed out the rear spring and it feels awesome now.
@@Mark_conor Thanks for the answer 🙋🏻♂
I was looking (waiting) for one of these to arrive at my dealer. In the meantime a '23 Rally ABS arrived and I jumped on it. After all this wait I'm so glad I did.
Where are you located? I've been on the list for a '23 Rally for months. Would have thought Honda would fulfill deposited orders before shipping unspoken for stock...
@@alexbouma9330 Central Pennsylvania. They received an ABS and non-ABS. Both were dealer allocations. Remember, your deposit isn't in Honda's pocket, it's in your dealers bank account. 😉 Your dealer holds the list of orders, not Honda. Word is that 300L/Rally's will be flooding the market sooner rather than later.
Is the orange a decal or the plastics
the orange is a decal
I watched the whole video to hear the seat height, you said you'd go into it further, when you said it was 2 inches lower than stock L model, now I guess I'll go Google the question, what is the seat height?
I think it’s 32.7 or something close to that
The buttons on the display are super stiff on mine too. I thought it may just be mine
What’s with the huge cable running in front of the control panel? That looks like crap.
The brake line. The shaft will slide up and down as front suspension goes down and up.
Did he say what the seat height was?
Well, when he said that it was 2in lower than the L model and that he would go into it later in the video, he didn't, so the answer is no.
32.7 inches. It's 2023, google took all but 5 seconds to find the seat height.
@@timmmax 5 Seconds you'll never get back
steering wheel lock?
Yup
tough to do with no steering wheel🤣@@jessepoorman2621
Like the new Honda Enduro bikes , the 300 is over priced at 6k
still dont know if i would want to go for the husq fe450 or crf300l, the crf300l seems so damn slow, but you willl have ''more'' bike with the Honda, as i believe is more durable the the Husq
in that case you can go for the CRF450L or RL which is about the same price as FE450, but better bike.
@@spring9603 they doesnt sell it over here, it would be very good choice for me.
Maintenance intervals on the honda450 is horrible
Comparing two different planets with those bikes. One is capable off road with higher maintenance and costs vs more of a road bike only with fk all maintenance and running costs. If you are experienced I'd skip the 300l
great looking bike but i would never buy this model because it has lower ground clearance and less suspension travel than the regular 300l. Those two things are kind of important for an off road machine. i love the colour though
You didn't even spend a few seconds showing the viewers your seated position! Nothing about how it was with your inseam.
That colour dosnt look so steelable it’s nice being lower
2024 KLX300 is more bike and features for the $. There’s a $400 rebate which puts it closer to the Honda. Honda suspension needs fixed out of the box. Kawi’s is fine for off road and is adjustable. The Honda’s brake hoses are downright dumb.
Kawasaki’s suck
How tall are you?
I'm 6ft with my boots on. Average leg length and I flatfoot on it but just barely. I had a 2021 L and I couldnt flat foot which I hated. I also HATED the bright red. So I love every thing about the LS. I've had one for 4 days now
So I’m 220 at 5’8” I should fit good on her? I just ordered this because I also hated the red and the regular 300l seemed kind of high to me for road rides.
@@jessepoorman2621 yea you will love it. You have to deal with it having ABS but it's worth it
First bike with a "steering wheel"
These signals looks so obsolete.
Unfortunate sewing machine sound and tuning. 😅
You would have more credibility as a reviewer of motorcycles if you knew how to properly dress when riding a bike off-road. Maybe long pants, boots and a jacket for the next review?
