He was decent bowler. I have seen 90s cricket so I know both Srinath and Venky were great on their day but pretty inconsistent specially in crunch games against quality opposition.

This indian jersey was the best. The pepsi ad featuring SRK dravid sachin and most of the team members at that time was also quite popular. It brings back a lot of memories of those days when I watched this clip.

Today India has not only replacement but way way better fast bowler than him as Jasprit Bumrah, who is a world class fast bowler. Among the all time best, other Indian pace bowlers are nothing in front of him !
Such a beautiful, rhythmic action and the quick snap of the shoulders to generate whippy bounce and pace. Values of pitching up, which sadly for India he did not realise enough through most of the 90s. Regressive captaincy hurts fast bowlers; I cannot state this enough.
He was a true hero, leading the Indian bowling attack with great skill and dedication. Not only was he a talented player, but he also represented the game with utmost grace and sportsmanship.
You can see in his career he bowled short of good length had he pitched further could be more dangerous. Because even in clip whenever he pitched the ball up to the batsman aslte Fleming are struggling to connect. Best bowler for India Mr javagal srinath 😊 respect to him.
Bare in mind that this is after his rotator cuff injury in his shoulder in 1997. He wasn’t able to bowl his absolute fastest after that injury, yet he was the second fastest bowler in this tournament behind Akhtar and still bowled 140kph+ at the 2003 WC which was his last games for India before he took retirement. Fascinating bowler who was a rare gem out of the ordinary for India the time he came through. Sad for him as he would still be something special today and do well in the side.
Yes that was against Australia. Unfortunately he bowled short of length and beat the bat but got no reward. McGrath meanwhile, bowled in the early 80s mph, and he and Fleming got India down to 17/4 in 5-6 overs, which finished the chase.
One of the best aggresive fast bowler of our. Country India, after entrance of Javagal Srinath other cricket countries faced a lot pace and bounce Strom from Indian Cricket team under pace leadership of Javagal Srinath
The likes of Srinath, Kumble, Sachin, David, Laxman, and Ganguly were there when the players played with all their heart. Who basically sacrificed everything. These days, you rarely witness such aggression and discipline. This was a time when gentlemen of the game were the norm.
The quickest indian bowler .During the later half of his career he was unplayable on helpful pitches. He was still clocking 135 kmph during has last few days .Surely he was 90 mph consistently during his younger days.
For those who are doubting Srinath's ability to bowl at higher speeds should watch India's match against England in 2003 world cup, where he consistently clocking avove 140 kmph.. Definitely during his younger days in early and mid 90s, he was bowling with high speed..I have watched Srinath bowling since from his debut to retirement..Srinath means passionate and dedicated cricket with pure emotions..Miss Srinath in todays matches.. where so called speedsters of India cannot clock beyond 140kmph

I used to copy his trademark style and switch angles like him at times to trouble/confuse the batsman, while used to imitate Zaheer's run up style and jump like him before releasing the ball for more bounce and sometimes used to take longer run up like shoaib akhtar to generate extra pace, I perhaps learnt about spin grip from Madan Bhaiya (Shikhar Dhawan's coach and our old neighbour) and i learnt about swing grip from some commentator/expert, and i guess I learnt lethal yorkers by myself applying brain and practicing and playing, a special arrow/missile I observed in rare foreign players' armoury and was very fascinated by, which I wanted to have in my armoury to surprise or answer back any batsman, a delivery where scoring runs was virtually impossible (when it came as a surprise) and rather it was the question of saving wicket for the batsman, when directed at wicket. A thing even my Indian Gurus whom I used to replicate/follow even didn't have in their armoury nor any other Indian pacers had i seen do it. I remember my confidence level with yorkers had increased due to practice and daily plays and i could produce it anytime I wished to like brahmastra. Although I had bowled yorkers multiple times, but i just happen to remember the only one I bowled to relatively new neighbourhood guy #Kaaku on my home street in anger as a reply to the one bounce 4 he hit me on the very first ball I had bowled to him. He had brought the bat down just in time and saved his wicket, but I remember this yorker of mine due to his "EPIC" yelling reaction, "yorker bhai saab, yorker daal di bhai saab"🤣🤣🤣
No, what unfortunate was that no one was to back him up, at least 50% of what he was.. No one by the time Zahir Khan came he was past his prime And when he got the support bo Zahir and Nehera even in his last few years he was different, They carried India to World Cup Final remember
He was the bowler who easily clocked 145-150 kmph in favorable conditions. High arm action, hits the good short of good lengths and could swing with pace. Only Zaheer after him was true replacement for this legend. Short lived Sreeshanth had abilities but his career was cut short by his own shenanigans and a crooked bihari captain
