Before this WC 2003, India travelled to NZ. During the selection for that series, Ganguly was adamant that he wanted Srinath. But Srinath was adamant at retiring. But somehow Ganguly made it work and Srinath looked like a beast during that tour of NZ when they prepared damp pitches to reduce Fab5 batsmen's advantage. The pace battery of Zaheer, Nehra and Srinath carried their form from NZ series into the WC. These 3 looked like picking up a wicket every ball in WC 2003. Wish they had retained the same from in the final.

I always felt Srinath was the unluckiest person. He always missed the edge by inches and when he did produce edges, wicketkeepers use to spill the catch. Wicketkeepers were very good those days but only for Srinath some bad luck

For those who are doubting Srinath's ability to bowl at higher speeds should watch India's match against England in 2003 world cup, where he consistently clocking avove 140 kmph.. Definitely during his younger days in early and mid 90s, he was bowling with high speed..I have watched Srinath bowling since from his debut to retirement..Srinath means passionate and dedicated cricket with pure emotions..Miss Srinath in todays matches.. where so called speedsters of India cannot clock beyond 140kmph

Rashid Latif was probably the most athletic wicketkeeper at the time. MK was also great. Wasn't a fan of Akmal's keeping.

I think speed guns back then were not of good quality. Even RP singh used to show 145 kmph.
