- I've been attending Western Sydney University for 3 years now. I want to show some of my personal experiences so that you can see the a few of the benefits and no no's for choosing Western. In today's video, I'll give you my thoughts of Western Sydney University. Everyone is welcomed to have different opinions, but this is just some of my main reasons for picking Western and disliking it.

I was in UTS and joined WSU yesterday WITH ADVANCED STANDING but the subjects I got advanced standing (which they wrote on my offer letter), aren’t there when I go to the website of recommended units for International Business. Whereas they had asked me my preferred major before providing me with the advanced standing.
I have emailed them about it, what do you think might have happened and might happen now? Do you think this might get fixed or no? I wouldn’t have joined WSU on the first place if I knew I wouldn’t receive full of my credits :v

I definitely agree with you, Western Sydney University has too many campuses & most of them are so quiet and dead. Go to visit Liverpool campus. It's so eerily quiet and scary most of the time. Your student fees go to waste maintaining these campuses.
Yeah I agree. The parramatta north campus drive way is full of potholes that haven’t been fixed since even before Covid in 2020. They should allocate the money to make the current campuses better instead of making new ones

Hi! I recently applied in western Sydney for my master's of social work. What do you think about MSW from Western Sydney. I am also applied in UWA( University of Western Australia) and Monash University too. And I got offer letter from Monash. In your opinion which university is a better option among these three.
I'm a Year 10 student, right now the time for Subject Selection has arrived and I've been considering Western Sydney since I was younger, I plan on studying Psychology and Art Therapy. This video was great to come across because i was nervous that although the courses would be good, the social side of the uni was concerning me.
Social life will always be a concerned, but that's why WSU and like other unis they have clubs for you to join, and sometimes they might even have clubs for your course. You don't even have to join clubs for your course haha you can join any clubs and make friends there too. I can't imagine doing uni without at least making friends at clubs, if you can't blend in with the people from your course. Good on you on thinking of uni early tho!!!

I applied for MRES IT in GRS. I received an offer letter on 15 december 2021. but till now on 12 january 2022 i still didnt receive any offer pack or prceding email. i applied in 1H whoes clases may start in janaury or feb. can you suggest wat should i do.shoul i defer or do i still have time if I reeceive somthing really soon. do u know if I can study online till I get visa and travel or should i rather defer. Please help me if am missing out on somthing
I suggest emaling the student central team and ask what's going on. I'm not too familiar on what to do here, but they can help you with the issue.
What do you think about master of project management in wsu?
Hello bro. I have been searching for days to know how much does it really cost me to study at WSU. Having huge trouble, maybe you can help me. I want to ask if you know how much computer science costs their like is it 30k a year. So 90k for the whole thing? Plus i wanna ask about how easy can i get scholarships and how easy working on campus is, and how much they contribute to the whole payment. Concerning other topics like living etc. i have these things figured out since my relatives live their and I’ll live with them in an apartment. Waiting for you response 😁
Yeah so I believe it would cost you abit more than $90k to do the degree. A lot of the answers to your questions are “depends”. From my experience, I was able to fit into the scholarship criteria, which is within the ATAR range when I apply for WSU after high school. For you it might be different, you might have to look at their requirements. You can email their team if you look up scholarship WSU. Working on campus, sometimes there are jobs that are offered, but they don’t have a lot, so I wouldn’t count too much on it. Since International student can only work 20 hours per week, it can be hard to keep up with the payment, but coming over here means that you already have to have some form of financial stability already, so I assume that the jobs can help you with other expenses instead. I’m also living with a close relative, and they don’t ask me to pay them, which is what I’m grateful for, but I know for others they might have to pay for it. I will DEFINITELY make a video about the living expenses here in Sydney in the future!!!

Plus you are absolutely right going there i should have financial stability, a matter of fact i do. But i was asking if i could maybe by a small scholarship and a on campus job maybe make the fees between 70-80k for the 3 years idk if it’s possible
@@sobhytfaily5392 ah yes definitely possible. You just have to work out which job is best for you. I suggest, if the uni doesn’t work, since they only have so much jobs, and if you REALLY want to work on campus, it’s better to have connections with the university people. And if you can’t get the university job, finding one from another place isn’t a bad option either, but this is just my personal opinion and experience. It is really hard finding an on campus job because it’s more important that you have a good connection with the university people.
Another con is that they only offer scholarship for NEW international student and not for continuing international student.
Hey! I'm actually considering this university as an international student, if you don't mind could you answer some questions? Like how was your cost of living as an international student 🤔 do you think its possible to get by well with a good budget or did you find yourself struggling a bit. Also, were you in student accommodations? I'll most likely be in a student sharehouse and wanted to ask how you would rate it
I'm currently living with my relatively and fortunately they're accomodating my shelter so I can't talk much about living accomodations, but I do know that housing accom at WSU village is about $250-$350/week (i think it's more of $250 than 250) if you share an apartment or unit outside of the uni with someone it will definitely be cheaper, especially if you work fully for 20hrs a week that's definitely doable. I am planning to move out with a few close mates of mine, so I don't know what it's like yet, but from what I heard, it's all different depending who you live with.

I think they’re generally “okay”. Depending on the teacher, it can be a boring class. Most of the classes I’ve been too are fairly boring because they read off the board lol. Just an honest thought. Student experience can be abit complicated as well. Services at the uni are rather slow, like if you want to transfer course half way through the semester or having problems enrolling into class, they can take a while to reply back to you, which can be frustrating. Most of my student experience I have to make the opportunity for myself, like joining clubs and make friends from there. It’s 100% less boring when you get to know people. You wouldn’t like uni as much if it’s just going to class and then go home.

Hi there, I don't know much about the master of business since I'm not doing business myself. However, I do know that you will be studying in either Parramatta City Campus and potentially Sydney City campus. From what I know it will most likely be in Parramatta.

Brother, what happens if you fail a single subject on your first semester? I am also in WSU. But most of the subj are done online and i am not satisfied studying just online, they only play videos, give you pdfs and you're on your own. Does wsu give chance to students who may fail their exam? i am very worried.
If you fail a unit, you can redo it again, but you can only redo the unit 3 times before you’re expelled. If you can, try to ask for extra materials to help you study. What I’m worried about is as International Students you’ll have the concern of your visa expiring at a certain time, and you would have to pay extra to redo the unit. So it’s better to try to pass it
@@henrytranvlog8233 is it allowed to enroll the failed unit next year like on top of all default units? Coz i think it wont be available next semester thats why im planning to enroll it nx yr.
@@filecategory6596 yes you should be able to. But to finish your degree on time you might have to do 5 units in one semester next year
I recently applied and got into Construction and Technology but i didn't realise that it was different to construction management. Do u know if i can still apply for construction management without losing my offer for construction and Technology.
It is an offer so you can still apply for construction management. As long as you apply for it before the offer date ends.

I got an offer from WSU Msc Business Analyst this july, i want to know is this course is trimester or semester, and i got 6000 scholarship, and i also want to know, does the deposit will be after deducting the scholership or I'll have to pay full amount and then the scholership will be returned.
the $6k should be deducted from the scholarship and WSU is generally semester. It's only trimester if you go to Sydney City campus.

Hi, could you please tell me what is the class hours in WSU per day/ week for graduate and post graduate course in civil engineering.
I’m not sure. You would have to look at your course handbook. It’s different for every course depending on what each teach wants. For me personally, it’s 2 days a week, roughly 11 hours of class. For civil engineering, especially post graduate might be more than that.

They consider academic from high school and if they need more people to join the course. Most of the time that’s what they look at. Otherwise there are special cases that you can apply for a scholarship

Commercial cookery is best done in TAFE where you’ll probably get more hand on experience in comparison to Western.

Hey! Im planning to join western sydney in feb 2023, I wanna know about the on-campus student accomation provided by WSU. Is it good enough or is it over-priced? Apart from the accomation expenses what is the per month living cost like in Sydney and is it easy to find part-time jobs in Parramatta?
If I remember correctly the accommodation price is around $250-$300 for living at WSU, which is abit cheaper than the rental prices in other houses or apartments in Parramatta. There is no exact per month living cost in Sydney because it all depends on how much you spend and save, but you can expect to spend about $400-$450 a week. Living here isn’t cheap and finding part time jobs would all depend on what you are looking for. If you’re looking for a profession related job like what you are studying then it is very hard, but if it’s generic like working at a cafe or labouring then it is easier.

you can check on your offer to see if its semester or trimester. Look at the campus as well, if its Sydney City campus it's most likely trimester. If not then semester.
Is the college diploma course for western Sydney great?? Is it a good start? Because I'm thinking of taking a visual communication extended diploma because I genuinely like doing digital art.
Diploma is just a pathway to the main course. If you aren’t able to enter your course straight away then that’s when you do diploma. Generally it’s a good start that will connect you to the main course
But for a design course is the teaching their good? I also noticed that my course located in Nirimba is the campus old or new?
Also is the disability service there good for international students with disability?
@@lanongphichit2003 Nirimba is not really a new campus. It’s just that not a lot of people go there so it’s somewhat empty. I don’t know about the design course since I haven’t taken it personally, but I have friends who are doing architecture and they say a lot of the assignments is individual work while you would only have a couple group ones. So what I take from it is that design courses are generally very lonely haha because you study by yourself most of the times

Do you know which campus is best for bachelor of business( marketing)?
This seems like an online course, so unfortunately it won’t be on campus.
But in my offer letter it's written that sydney city is my campus.
@@farzanaiffatara2807 If i recall correctly Sydney city is normally online. Alot of the courses that they offer that is online is from Sydney city. I'm not sure though, but when you do your tutorial registration you should be able to see whether it is actually online (it would say 'online') or on Sydney City campus ('roomname')

@@farzanaiffatara2807 Normally when you select your units there should be different options based on the campuses. I suggest select your units first, since I assumed you have already enrolled? And then you can pick your campus from there. If that's not the case then you might have to ring up Student Central and they can guide you through. It's holiday though so might take them a while to reply. Or alternatively you can finish the first semester at Sydney city if they don't answer you back by the time the sem starts, and after the first semester you can change campus.

Do you know anything about the november session? Is this session different from other sessions??
The November session is normally the summer session. It’s when you can catch up with other units if u wanna study more, or if you failed a unit and you don’t want to fall behind. It’s basically summer school. Some units might not be offered though so just have to do a bit of research on what they have.
I'm doing November session - SCC3, it's at Sydney City Campus, it's the same as normal session, just trimester instead of semester, if that's what you meant

Applied for phd scolership but no out come how long does it take.
Generally it takes awhile for them to consider for scholarship. I’m not sure about the requirements for PHD but it’s slightly different from what I know. You will have to email them about it or just wait it out. It’s all up to the scholarship team

anh được học bổng từ high school qua university, nên anh không chắc là nếu e từ VN qua đây học thì học bổng cần j. Nhưng nếu anh nhớ thì hầu hết học sinh du học nào cũng sẽ được học bổng tự nhiên nếu e apply cho WSU, e chỉ cần chấp nhận học bổng mà người ta giao cho (kèm theo với email chấp nhận học)

Hi, could you please tell me how much old funds do university ask for?
Not sure what you mean by old funds, but besides your tuition, you will also be paying for about $150 worth of SSAF (Student Service and Amenity Fees) for stuffs like events on campus, etc.
@@henrytranvlog8233 I mean while applying for university, in general they ask to show finance right so how much old the funds they ask for, is it okay to provide one month old funds in account
@@pavithrashyne1860 nope. Getting a visa is different because getting a visa would mean you have to provide your finance, but not your uni. If you are an international student, as long as you pay up-front, that's all they care for.

I’m not entirely sure. You will have to message the scholarship team for that. But I think yes you should be able too, although the criteria for it might be different than the regular uni course because it’s only for one year.

How about Msc in agricuture?
I don’t know much about MSC in Agriculture. I do know the Hawksbury campus is where the Agricultural students are based, so if you do attend that area, then you’ll meet plenty of students of your interests.
How did you get your scholarship?
I’m not entirely sure how I was eligible for the scholarship at first. When I receive my offer for WSU, the scholarship info page was attached to it, and I just had to fill it out and email to the scholarship team at Western. My guess is that there is an ATAR range when I was applying for my course, because I completed year 12 over here, and because I’m in that ATAR range, they gave me the scholarship.
You can check the WSU page about the scholarship options, or you can email their scholarship team to see if you’re eligible. International students work abit different than the domestic, so it might take some research.

Depends. Are you going from high school over here to university? It is different than applying from overseas.

@@sujanpulamimagar5366 I’m not sure, but generally 2 weeks is a time period that you don’t have to worry about much. Give or take it’ll be a month because their system is quite slow.

is it easy to get hired after completing your undergraduate?
Realistically for international students, it’s much harder to be hired than local students. Most companies want to make sure that they hire people who will stay for a long time, and with internationals there’s an uncertainty that they can leave anytime.

@@b4f495 well if you are a domestic student then it would be significantly easier than internationals. Although in saying that, you would have to also compete with other domestic students who might or might not be overqualified for the job.

Hey, I don’t, but I have a friend who is thinking about doing it before. He changed his mine now. Not sure why, maybe he just decided to stick with building design haha.
Oh thanks for the prompt reply. Im a mature student with offers from both USYD and UWS. I must avail an edu loan to pursue my studies but the covid pandemic has made me defer my edu plans. I am already a practising architect with more than 10 years of work experience but now fully convinced that urban planning can provide me more job satisfaction as i want to work with governments in bettering urban experiences more so in developing world from numerous socio-economic aspects. Hope i can secure my edu loan soon and my vaccinations. Have you started attending face to face classes? Can access the libraries? Move around freely in Sydney?
@@bobbuildin01 we’re pretty much good to go back to face to face class. Covid here in NSW is pretty much cleared out and you can go to libraries, restaurants, public transports, pretty much anything, without a face mask. Unless it changes later lol. I’ll make another video soon about construction management if you’re also into that. Been busy with exams and assignments since it’s the last week of uni for this semester so gotta cram everything.

its difficult to make choice because they don't share syllabus... or how they teach or what they will teach!
they do share it at the start of the semester so you can read everything they will teach, or at least the majority of it.

i would suggest never study it or computer science in this university... because its website sucks

It does show the syllabus once you have enrolled into the unit. Website is generally okay but other than that could use abit of work for cleaner layout. I think all university websites are bad in layouts anyway

@@subzero4787 when you enrol they generally will give you 2 weeks before school start for you to access vuws and you will see what you will be studying. On top of that, there are learning guides which is basically the same as syllabus that you can view online if you search up the unit from the uni website

Hi there! Living as an international student in Sydney in particular isn't cheap, but you can say that about anywhere honestly. It is definitely possible to get by if you plan out your expenses well. International students here can work 20 hrs per week or 40 hrs per fortnight, so if you can find a decent job that will definitely help. I'm currently living with a relative over here at the moment, but I know alot of my other friends who are sharing rooms with people. Definitely doable! If you're coming to WSU, welcome to Sydney, my friends!! Hopefully Covid will be better by that time.
@@henrytranvlog8233 thanks :D I saw on the universities website that they provide free shuttle bus rides to and from campus and dorms so I hope that will alleviate some costs for me, I am definitely most scared of seeing big spiders though
@@user-eu5us5bh3s They do provide free shuttle bus rides from the train station to the campus so you don't have to walk :) spiders wise, you won't have much to worry unless you live in North Sydney, I can confirm that haha. Where I live, toward the western side, you won't see much unless you go for a bike ride or a walk around the park, but even then, it's not as much as you think :)
@@henrytranvlog8233 ohh I was under the impression that the bus goes directly from the dorm to the campus and so forth, I'd froth at the mouth just looking at one so I'm glad there's not many spiders in western sydney 😂
@@user-eu5us5bh3s It does go to dorms as well. Student accomodation here is typically in Parramatta North campus, used to be a campus but it's now a student accomodation area. You can take the bus from North to South campus and to the station and vice versa.
