On this episode of Hot Lap watch us rebuild the top end of Adam's 1995 Cobra along with a sweet Borla exhaust upgrade. Also, get up close as Stephanie gets NHRA certified and goes 8s! Finally, check out the all new MMD V-Series side exit exhaust for your S550!
First up, take a trip with us to Maple Grove Raceway and watch Stephanie get her NHRA license! Watch Stephanie strap into a super comp car for the very first time and achieve some of her personal best times out on the 1/4 mile.
Next up, get an up close look at the all new MMD V-Series side exit Cat-Back exhaust w/ rocker panels (393778). MMD and Flowmaster ban together to create a great sounding exhaust for your 2015+ Mustangs. Not only will this exhaust give your Mustang a unique and aggressive appearance, but it will also add a classic Mustang car growl. www.americanmus...
Finally, the main event comes when we take fellow AmericanMuscle video host, Adam's, '95 Cobra and give it a top end engine rebuild along with a brand new exhaust system set up. Adam's car gets some basic "maintenance upgrades" and comes out with a new camshaft, clutch and flywheel along with a full Borla exhaust with BBK long tube headers.

Thanks for the cobra build. Good to see some old 5.0 action
more sn95 videos!
Wow. I'm proud for Stephanie ! She made great runs getting her NHRA license. 8.90 in the 1/4 mile ! Amazing..
As a '95 Cobra owner, I loved this video, thanks!
So glad that you enjoyed it :) Thanks for watching! What mods do you have added to your Cobra so far? -Elaina
I left the drive-train all stock (basically for value purposes, it only has 43,000 miles) but it has been lowered, Cobra R wheels, deleted cats with h pipe and Flowmasters, and a short-throw shifter. Wish I could bring out there for the annual event this summer!
I'm working on my 94 GT right now and this was right on time!
More 94-95s if you would please, maybe even a TKO 500 or 600 swap.
SNAPPING NECKS
Drive a car with a TKO in it first. Its like shifting a box of rocks. Never again.
I'm about to do a major build on my 95 I got 5 months ago ... I just clicked 75,000 miles she is super clean.. I found a set of real gt40 3bar heads and intakes, I'm also doing a complete rebuild, long tube no cats or pump. I'm basically building for 300hp I'm trying to pick a computer tune that then making look like a 1995 convertible s351 .... 95 is my absolute favorite year.... I'm looking for a 351 block also
Take it to THE LEECH in Oklahoma for a proper tune. UA-cam.
@@cellpat7392 I would do a t56 or something tremec has a new 5 speed that is really good too the tkx I think it is. Supposed to be like the t56 magnum shifting wise but it's a 5 speed that can handle 600 torque like a tko 600 basically it just drives and shifts alot better.
Get a tkx, they are sweet, I have one in my 95 gt built n turboed.
" We are outta here, She's slower than me" Justin is hilarious lol
That one made me laugh also, Justin's the man. - Will
When I saw "Stephanie goes 8's" in the title I was like, "Holy shit, in her Foxbody?! What has SHE been doing"? 😂😂😂
Naw that car goes 7's.
Haha just kidding, that would be cool AF tho. - Stephanie
it is awesome to see an older style 5.0. thats what i have and its so cool that other people are keeping it alive to .
loved american muscle since I got my 94 cobra 5 years ago recently broke a valve spring and was just gonna do a full top end build but didn't know what head combo would work well together love this car cant wait for more on this cobra
Skip to 8:20 you're welcome!
You are real America Hero 🤝
love this American muscle I stay up every night watching you guys videos because I have an 96 mustang and you guys inspire me .. I love it !!
We love you too David! :) Thanks for your support, kind words, and for watching! What mods do you have added to your 96' Mustang? -Elaina
AmericanMuscle.com I am adding an cold air intake right now I added an aftermarket clutch ..doing a little bit at an time I am most definitely working on an exhaust system
Just bought a 96 Cobra, w a 4.6. I need some Longtubes for it! Had some on my v6, it was nice!😈
Cobra build was a great change of pace from the newer mustang vids, thanks for sharing your build. Now it needs a V3 Si. Good build man. I like the combo.
Thanks for the shout man, Adam's car is sick and I knew it would be an awesome change of pace. Stay tuned, he's not done ;) - WIll
I love what you guys did with the '95 cobra!!!
I own a C7 z51 Vette but I love all these builds, even though they're mustangs
Great channel!
That Cobra is so dope, finally some earlier model Stangs. Congratulations Steph.
What do you want to see next? Thanks for watching man, we
appreciate it! I might be a little biased but this episode was awesome!
But we'll top it ;) - Will
AmericanMuscle.com Someone should start designing more aggressive looking chin spoilers, like whats available on the S550's. I would also like to see quad exhaust pipes: two sides (round not square exits) and two rear, that would look insane.
americanmuscle.com
I don’t know how he could have pulled the engine and transmission and not cleaned everything up while he had it all out. I would have cleaned the engine and transmission and probably thrown a coat of paint on the engine. Then I would have cleaned up the engine bay before dropping the engine back in. It just makes everything look better and nicer.
That's why most people cant get shit done.
"well since im already here i might as well do this and that", then 6 months down the road you dont know why your motor isnt back in your car.
There is a lot of shit with this build that wasn't very well thought out. Why I think it was all AM supplied promo parts for free or a STEEP discount.
These are decent numbers for these parts as they are not much better than stock..
Totally! 👊
@@johnmiley5607 🤣
you guys have spoiled us with such a stellar video! everything in this video is what I would truly appreciate seeing in this channel haha I know that can't always be possible but great job nonetheless 😁👍 y'all seen like a true car family ✊
We are one big family here. Thanks for noticing and taking the time to comment Pegasus! This is far from the last video of this type, stay tuned! What would you like to see next? - Will
AmericanMuscle.com I think it's safe to say we (viewers) really enjoy the build process of the cars owned by people at AM or customers with the variety of models (not just newer models). 👍 maybe promote any package deals for certain builds. with so much competition out there for the pony I think that would entice some customers (heavy performance packages, street packages, handling packages) you guys kinda do that already but just an idea haha either way you provide lots of good stuff anyway ✊
AmericanMuscle.com watching your videos feels like being with a team of big friends helping out each other and having fun as a big family, an American muscle family 🤘 I love that 👍 thanks so much for giving me that feeling. I'm actually hoping, or wanting to be part of this beautiful big family, but my Loved old beautiful "noble steed" (2000 white Mustang) is too old and tired to roar like that haha!, it's a good boy but, right now I can't give it an upgrade, so I can't imagine the happiness you felt, individually, and as a team, when the engine came back to a better life, and sounded like an angry but yielding and obedient BEAST! 😉🖒
from a faithful subscriber, keep making videos like this.
🖒👍🖒👍🖒👍
I would of gone with an H pipe for a more muscular sound but other than that the build is spot on.
SpyderRios agreed
The x-pipe not only sounds way better it’s also dyno proven to make more power
Racing or just driving your dyno?
@@eriv4735 the power difference is very minimal they're like 2 or 3 hp difference that is within dyno variance. Power difference is negligible it comes down to sound and h sounds better. To each their own I've had more than one car with x and more than one with h so I'm familiar with both.
Lil’ Ike Everyone is entitled to their opinions but the x-pipe is still dyno proven to make more power either way..to each their own
So much for more 94-95 5.0 project builds.
Love the cobra! I own a 94 cobra with the F-cam and a v-3 sitting at 10psi. Dyno tuned at 379/414 to the rears. I also have the same exhaust setup with the exception of the bbk o/r H instead of the X and absolutely love the sound. Definitely going to stay tuned for the updates!
#Goals! That thing sounds sick! I've got bigger plans for my 95 Cobra coming up in the near future, thanks for watching! -Adam
AmericanMuscle.com Thanks! It's a fun car, definitely holds its own. I'm sure you'll find that out soon enough in your build! Good luck!
Go Steph! That looked like fun! And the 5 liter build was great.
The 94-95 and especially the Cobra had Ford's 1st attempt if Adaptive Learning in the ECU, basically the fox mods didn't work because the computer was always trying to clean up the programming. Get it tuned and it is a fun car!!
You guys are awesome and really appreciate the time and quality you put in these vids. I've been nervous about these two crazy giveaways for the last three months. I think about them all day everyday. I enter to win EVERY week. I imagine these beast's in my garage, sitting outside my house and showing them off to everyone. Even my wife is excited for me. Keep it up and love you guys.
Adam, it would be sick to see you win! Good luck man! - Will
Wow. Stephanie each pass you became more in tune with the power and your speed increased. Congratulations.
It’s awesome to see cars like this being built here in PA. All you really ever see are guys in California or other non rust belt states, and if something does get built in the north east it’s usually a truck. I’d love to come and visit this shop sometime
This was so satisfying to watch! I love the new mustangs but I’m tired of them as well!
265whp is not bad,but my brother made 310whp with a trick flow top end kit out of the box,and now trick flow has an 11r top end kit that produces 430bhp out of the box,if I ever get a 94-95 I’m getting that 11r top end kit, either way I enjoyed watching this more then Watching coyotes and terminators
Loved the Cobra. You guys need to get a 01 Cobra in for a build, maybe a Laser Red convertible #1454 like mine? Hint, hint.
Stephanie just got hotter.
I love how Justin prefers the old school push rod sound which it cannot be beat. Even Bill at CJ Pony made a similar comment on a Borla clip for the 99-04. Even he likes the old school muffler before the axle vs the axle back on his Coyote Stang like Justins.
Love my 95 Cobra, I've got Flowmasters and an H pipe. MSD, and Intake with a Hypertec chip. It's just a perfect setup and runs and sounds awesome. Heat isn't an issue unless I run the AC midday in traffic. Maybe I'll do the water pump. I did a 3 core radiator and new fan already
Looks like those cylinder heads could take more camshaft. I do love the sound of an e-cam!
Thanks for watching! -Zach
94-95 sn95s are my personal favorite, new body style with the tried+true 302 windsor. Super easy to get good power out of it compared to a 4.6.
I love those cobra's looks and sounds awesome great job guys
I wish I was at SEMA to see the AmericanMuscle setup!! Hope y'all have a great show like you always do, cant wait to see the videos. Hopefully I'll be able to be at SEMA 2017 with 2 new beasts! this is the month of truth!
Videos will be coming! Stay tuned! - Will
this is my favorite episode. awesome stuff! congrats, Steph! that '95 Cobra is KILLER!
Steph is still smiling to this day! I'm a little jealous... Thanks for watching! - Will
Wow....only 130K miles on a '95 Cobra. Not bad at all.
I've ALWAYS had a soft spot for the '94/'95 Cobra's...
I have a 96 cobra with 76k miles all stock
@@ryan422423 Oh wow- that's pretty nice!
@@MyCatInABox yea it really is just needs a little cosmetic love other than that. Thats it!
@@ryan422423 I would LOVE to finally have one of those...with low miles like your car.
Love this channel. Keep it up!
Thanks for the kind words Ryan! :) Are you a fellow Ford owner? -Elaina
the philly accent is strong with this one
I noticed that too haha.
#WooderIce #Softpretzels #Cheesesteaks GOTTA REPRESENT BRUH!! Thanks for watching! - Adam
I just bought a 95 cobra on monday and its being fixed rn but that pop is beautiful and happens to me sometimes too
Yes I just found this I have a 97 cobra with a couple mods and suspension waiting to do the 4.30’s
I used to own a '94 Cobra so I know the draw of these cars! The freshened up engine sounds great too.
Whats a FL car 94 cobra with 75k miles worth?
Long live the good old 5.0 sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet ride.
Don't we all wish our hair looked as good as Justin's
Just ran across this video, sure does make me miss my Canary Yellow '94 GT. It had an E-cam, long tubes and 3.73 gears. Wasn't a powerhouse but man it was a fun street car. You car looks awesome man! Love the wheels too, just needs some shorter front tires. Those are wicked tall lol
'95 SN95 5.0L HO for the win, for sure. Great build. But at 130K, it was hardly worn out. I have over 300K on my '95.
Old Mustangs never die...they just go faster. LOL.
They're are just no words. Well done guys 😎😎😎
great episode of hot lap. I would love to be a tuner for you guys. Stephanie looks like she enjoyed herself in the dragster
We're hiring ;) Check out the site! - Will
AmericanMuscle.com I checked out the site but you guys aren't hiring tuners but I am interested in another position with you guys. I will stop by before the end of November and talk to you guys in person about a job
Awesome car, please bring it back and do more! ;)
Awesome video! This helps a lot for the set up I have planned for my 94' gt with only 50000 miles on it!
Oh man, seeing a gird that knows her stuff on cars is such a turn on.
Nice video AM...keep it up.
Sn95 5.0 best sounding and sexiest mustang.
I think that unported stock intake is hurting him at least 15 rwhp..It would be cool to see that ported or even with a better intake and see how much it picks up
I've got some more plans for this build, so that isn't out of the question. Stay tuned! - Adam
AmericanMuscle.com sweet I can't wait!
@@americanmuscle wheres the more content?
Looks like your pushing a little oil out the pipes. Should have done the rings guys.
Great video.. Justin is back, Steph is badass and awesome Cobra build.. what more could a guy ask for Lol.
That thing sounds good.
Well done Steph!
Thank you! - Stephanie
Love this video, please make more videos, of the 5.0 cobra
I've always purchased products from AM love everything you do and from a business stand point i love what you guys doing with youtube good exposure.
We appreciate the Omar, more and more videos will be coming, stay tuned and thank you for the business! - Will
AmericanMuscle.com oh and by the way i got a good feeling about raptor and mustang i am gonne be one lucky owner
Great vid seeing someone throw some love on an SN95. Old dude shoulda hit that upper intake with some polish though before putting it back in.
Nice Cobra brother!!!👊😎....love the sound of it camming with that borla!!!!!
A set of AFR 185 HEADS AND A BIGGER CAM WITH A BETTER FLOWING UPPER AND LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD WOULD HAVE YOU AT AN EASY 300WHP MARK AND HAVE MORE HIGH RPM AND TOP END PERFORMANCE. Sounds good imo a set of supper 44 flowmaster mufflers would give it a little louder deeper sound and really allow that lopey cam to shine! Love the car keep it rolling!
Decent power gains.Congrats!That LS1 catfish would pull you,though ;)
Hey now, we're not done yet ;) Forced induction is coming as well as some other goodies! -Adam
jay.0621 yeah but that xobra will be pulling hard long after that chevy junk is scrap yard fodder
biggdaddy blade works nah man your smoking crack 😂a little Catfish with cam and bolt ons with a little dope is a force to be reckon with and will run forever
Yup woulda got gapped real quick. Lol. Just had my 306 with trick flow h/c/I full bolt ons etc. dyno tuned made 280 hp. Kind of depressing,
Zachary Spurlock lol a chevy run forever thats the finniest shit ive heard in years
Smoke that camaro
He didn't want the sauce ;) - Will
If that was a LS1 it would have put 2 or 3 bus lengths on a 265hp SN95.
dope to have track license! 🎊💯🎉🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ah! About time there is a good ole push rod SN-95. Specifically a Cobra!
We'll be bring her back around man, we're not done yet! haha glad you enjoyed it! - Adam
Wow Stephanie you can drive too. Thats cool
More of these !!!
They need to do a 98 v6 build
amazing job!
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching! -Zach
that is what kind of build I want to do on my 1998 mustang gt
NICE! Love it man. I got a 94 Cobra myself. Similar mods yet add SC and 3.73s. :) she lopes hard and gets down!
Awesome video! Can't wait to see more of that 95' !
a few things I wanna add as a 95GT owner...the factory computer wants to turn the fans on at 221 degrees. the stock thermostat is 195 degrees, so in order to get that 5.0 running cooler with that aluminum fan, you'll have to either chip the computer and tell it to turn the fans on sooner or remove the cooling responsibility from the computer and install your own fan controller. a 180 thermostat will help too. also, did you have an adjustable quadrant and adjustable clutch cable installed? my 95GT has most of the same mods and I dyno'ed 267whp and 300wtq
Thanks for the info! I didn't have anything specific done to remove the cooling responsibility from the computer, but I did wire the fan to run on it's own instead of kicking on at 221 degrees. Now it just runs all the time and with the aluminum rad everything runs at perfectly normal temps.
Also, I did have an adjustable BBK quadrant and cable installed after this build was complete. Thanks for the input! - Adam
yea, if you have someone that can burn you an SCT chip, you can eliminate allot of things the EEIV will be looking for like the AIR pump system, EGR, when to turn on the fans etc. no prob, i'm here to help...
Adam's first 95 looked just like my 95, mine was also a V6. It was a nice car, but my only problem was the transmission. I was not used to the shift pattern. I was used to a H-pattern, the J-pattern like the Mustang had.
So proud of you Stephanie great job! 👍😆
Thanks! It was fun for sure! - Stephanie
Awesome! Way to go Stephanie!!👏👏👊🤘😍
That lope
I love the build! I want to do the same on my 95 5.0! But I noticed that you guys no longer carry that specific cylinder head on your website. What else do you recommend using for that same build?
I agree, I love my coyote, but I wish they could have made them sound more like the old 5.0s.
You can say that again! I wouldn't trade my 14 for the world but you just can't beat that Pushrod sound. - Will
1:54 Glad she has a sense of humor for the comments lol.
The one video I would I actually want to see Steph dress up. Lol. Congrats
Hi, are you running stock 3.08 final? Thanks.
I love sn95's. I have two of them! This guy needs a nice cobra R hood to complete the look.
I'm thinking about it, it might be tough to get the whole hood to match with the custom paint. I'm looking into it, thanks for the suggestion! - Adam
AmericanMuscle.com No problem! I'm following you on IG: "@rambo_nate."
Having owned a 1995 Cobra for many years... these guys epic failed. I mean the car does look great minus the engine bay but... Why GT40X heads? Maybe working for AM he got a deal of some sort or since it was a video he got the labor for free, I dunno. But they are about the WORST aluminum heads available for this car. Twisted Wedge 170s or AFR 165s would be the ones to actually get but... again he probably got some sort of deal. That out of the way, even if they weren't terrible he put the stock intake back on. Stock Cobra lower flows 200cfm. Which is what the stock GT40 iron heads flow. So those aluminum heads are doing nothing but saving some weight. If he was SMART he would have had the lower ported out by someone like Tom Moss to flow 240-250 and take advantage of the extra head flow. But... didn't... The E cam... ppl bash on the letter cams and yeah there are better ones out there but for an off the shelf cam it is ok. My actual problem is re-using the stock pushrods. Engine building 101 = you measure for correct pushrod length. Maybe they did and shimmed the rockers to get the valvetrain correctly setup but no mention of it in the video at all so I'm going to assume they just threw it all together and rolled. Not good. BBK chrome longbubes in PA winters??? Good luck with that one... Hopefully the car is not driven from November to April or those are probably already rusted off 2 years since the video was made. As far as the tune, I'm going to assume they in-house dyno tuned the car via the chip vs just the standard dangerous Bama canned tunes. Especially with how finicky the 94/95 Computers are. SR intake... not doing anything but looks better than the stocker, hopefully it also survives in PA winters but it looks mostly plastic and rubber so its probably fine.
Finally... bad info, these cars dynoed 230-240 to the wheels from the factory. They were underrated from Ford and this is a well known fact. Picking up max 35rwhp from a HCI on a 302 is godawful especially if you spring for aluminum heads. I made 301/325 when I did a HCI on my 95 Cobra with Eddy heads, ported Cobra intake and a Comp Xtreme Energy cam.
Kind of a bash post... Again, the car looks great but just... well its a nice cruiser. This guy could have saved a ton of money by just doing a compression check and, if good, Crane 2031 cam, longtubes, new clutch and get a good tune from one of the many legit dyno tuners in that area of Southeast PA. That combo would have made the same power and all that stuff can be done in the driveway easy. Pushrod=ton of room to work in the engine bay unlike the 4.6L, longtubes can be done in a few hours, T5 trans comes out super easy as its 75lbs, you can buy lifter magnets so you can do the cam without even pulling the intake manifold off... etc...
The gt40x heads flow very similar to the stock iron gt40 heads so he only really saved weight there and the intake is stock so it’s not really an hci car now is it?..and not for nothing 35hp from a cam and exhaust swap isn’t too bad..I honestly don’t know what you were expecting out of this car lmao
Im looking at a 95 cobra with 75k miles on it and its got an upgrade to 11:1 compression and dudes asking 6500 in Fl whats a good deal for it cause i know thats too much.
that is one nice 95 holy crap I always wanted a 95 or a 2004 gt
I actually had both! Loved them pretty equally. That being said, I wouldn't trade my Coyote for one :P - Will
How much more power are the Turbo swril GT40 Aluminum heads make than the stock GT40 iron heads?
Same thing happened to my throwout bearing too lmao
STEPH SAID SHE WANTED MORE!!!AND WAS THAT JUSTIN OR BRADLEY COOPER?
What size wheel/ tire combo is on the white '95? Car sounds fantastic!
fuck now i wanna work with you guys when im old enough lmao
I want to go the same route on my 95 5.0. I really want to hit 300 hp na. Any advice? Does that bama tune really work well? I have mixed feelings on the letter cams. Anyone done this before?
just got my ecoboost a month ago and i am finally getting my mods togwther. justin eliot with am.com has helped me alreafy tremendously. love american muscle so much. you guys always have awesome videos.
Thanks for the shout Dalton, we really appreciate it! What's next on the mod list for your Mustang? We all know that they are never "done". - Will
SN95 top end build works really good with an LS engine.
Any high end build works well with an LS :)
