Top things I like about this: 1) Rachael Tucker 2) those riffs tho 3) 'be so happy I could melt' oh the irony 4) 'when people see me they will scream' that audience was so on cue 5) 'all right why not?' Because of COURSE that's not important to you, speaking that made it ten times more West Endian Thank you
Loved it. It's amazing how she displays such a close attention to the words in her interpretation. Some songs in "Wicked" I like Idina Menzel better, but for this song as well as "No Good Deed" Rachel Tucker is the best :)
Very true! You should also look for her 'no good deed' and 'defying gravity' performance! She's my favorite Elphaba... The best. Nothing more. Nothing less.
She doesn't sing the song she performs it and feels the emotion! So in character even on this stage and minus the green. Rachel is just incredible! And that's why she is the longest running elphie!
On her 'Melt' Riff...... It's like she doesn't even mean to sing it! When she says 'I' she speaks.. then 'could' she sings as a note (by mistake I think) and then just pushes the 'MEEEEEEEELLLLT' out... Absolutely unreal!
Just saw her live on Broadway today!!! I absolutely love this particular video/performance because she does all the riffs, but man, seeing it in context, with her really getting into the character in the actual show just makes it so much more intense. UGH she's just so amazing I can't even xP
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. No other way to describe it. Your acting is also effortless, I usually don't hand out compliments so easily but.. I know talent when I see it:)
Possibly the best version of TWaI I've ever heard. Also the "melt" riff is always amazing but should we talk about that UNBELIEVABLE whispered "life" at 3:53?!
@@brookehollaway74 technique wise and range wise ari she’s a soprano so i expect that but raw vocals and growls is always lowkey gonna be better, rachel is damaging her voice i feel that vibrato is a little weird but she’s still amazing
Omg she literally blows my mind every single time I hear her sing this and I’m in a singing competition team with my theatre school and am thinking of doing this for my solo and I know I’ll never be as good as her but that’s why I love this song cause she’s inspired me so much
Okay, but can we talk about how many times I've pulled back to 4:11... THAT GROWL that she slips in there ever so effortlessly on "ANNNNRRRRDDDD IIIIIIIII!!!" is simply ICONIC. That's it, that's all.
Absolutely amazing performance, seen her twice as elphaba and is one of the best so far. If she ever came back to the London performance I would be there straight away 💚💚💚
Ohmygoodness. I don't even know how to how to describe her voice. She is just amazing. I doubt anyone in the world has even a fraction of her talent. I was lucky enough to see her play Elphaba along side Gina Beck as G(a)linda back in February and it was the most amazing thing I had ever witnessed. I would give anything to see it again.
I know this sounds daft but her voice is so "pretty" at times...then she can belt, then she has growls. Her tone is so amazing to my ears, and she has phrasing that is amazing to my ears. I don't get the same feelings listening to that vilheilm or whatever she is called. Oh one more thing...her acting makes me smile too :)
Neither of them got to where they are being Chopped Liver! They're ALL extremely talented. It's really hard for me to choose a favorite actress because sometimes I'll prefer one over the other depending on the song. Rachel Tucker truly is a mind blowing performer. She sings her stinking face off! She reminds me of Streisand's power when she hits some of those top notes.
@@itscalebbarrera Rachel is one of the best Elphaba's, also vocally in my opinion. But nothing can beat Willemijn vocally. There is a reason she played the role in 4 countries. Because no one can sing it like her. She just sadly isn't the best actress.
Paula Musik that’s what I said in my comment she may not be a good actress (yes ik she needs improving) but she’s definitely vocally better then Rachel
I am OBSESSED with her "things I've never felt" its so simple and sticks to the score but its sure pure and very well placed !! i hope she returns soon! bring her across the pond!
Ok but, she did not take a single breath from that held out “me” that goes into “and I’ll stand up with the wizard” and somehow she delivered that with a growl and vibrato. Amazing!
Am I the only one who loves how she says "no" after "or like munchkins so small minded?"
Also, her 'Alright, why not?!' is the best ever.
ZippyLove i agree wholeheartedly!
And the bit at 0:59 is incredible. I love her expressions on, "...or like Munchkins, so small-minded."
All her little mannerisms and facial expressions..... she's adorable. So hope to see her before she heads back to the West End
Can't believe I saw this fierce actress as my first elphaba!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I happened to be in London at the perfect time...summer before this I think
Cool! I saw Emma Hatton in London 👌
I saw her standby. I so wanted to see Rachel. But Alice was really good to, especially her acting and surprisingly also great voice..:)
That melt riff😍😍😍😍😫😫😫😭😭😭👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💔💔💔😍😍😍😍😍
Amber Tait I know right😍😘😘😘😘
That 'exterior' riff was heaven. She's insanely good!
That little growl on "and iiiii" gets me every time
I saw her on broadway twice and I cried 3 times throughout it because she is perfection
Her “and I “ at the end, is simply the best. The growl, the open full straight tone into the controlled even vibrato. Just amazing !
That "melt" melted my face
Shut up middle school Christian 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️

exactly!! I agree 5/5

I love how she still acts it without props or anything! She's so incredible!
I watch this video constantly she is absolutely perfect
3:47 is one of my favorite vocal runs of all time. LOVE IT
THE WAY SHE SAYS WELL SINCE BIRTH IM OBSESSED
yes!!!
I watch this video every single day. I don't just listen -- I watch; her acting is absolutely spine-tingling
this is the best ive ever heard in my opinion
Very true! You should also look for her 'no good deed' and 'defying gravity' performance! She's my favorite Elphaba... The best. Nothing more. Nothing less.
This is the best version of The Wizard and I on earth!! I'll replay this for days
She doesn't sing the song she performs it and feels the emotion! So in character even on this stage and minus the green. Rachel is just incredible! And that's why she is the longest running elphie!
SHE'S COMING TO BROADWAY AS ELPHABA!!!!!!! AMERICA GET READY'
I accidently put this to my favorites about 7 times because I couldn't get enough.
Literally gives me goose bumps every time I hear Rachel sing. AMAZING!! x

I couldn't watch this without tearing up. Goodness. I love this so much 😭😭😭
You can see the fun she’s having. I could watch this all day
She gave Life to each note and a meaning to each word! I love her version of the song so much!! 💚💚💚
I think you have said it best of all.
she really makes the song come to life! when my drama class went i stood on the stalls and she thumb up to me! i cried so much!
I just saw her yesterday, she was amazing, and may be becoming my fav...
her voice break and rasp on the AND I at the very end ughhhhhh yessssss
this PERFORMANCE goddamn her acting is brilliant
Her voice just gives me chills!! I see her on Saturday and I am SO excited! She was Elphaba the first time I saw Wicked.
SHE IS TRULY INCREDIBLE!
Wow…what an amazingly gifted actress! Rachel is so present in her performance, very engaging and generous. She was born for the stage. ❤️
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. No other way to describe it. Your acting is also effortless, I usually don't hand out compliments so easily but.. I know talent when I see it:)
WTF??? WTF??? I looove her! Best singer ever!!! That acting and voice with riffs! She´s person of quality!
I honestly watch this at least once a day. can't get enough of her 😭😻
Saw her first performance as Elphaba on Broadway. She was amazing!!
I watched wicked recently totally unknowing about Rachel, now... I absolutely love her!
I still stand by the fact that this is the best vocal of TWAI I've ever heard. She just completely nails it.
Why is she so perfect? I simply love this woman!!!
Possibly the best version of TWaI I've ever heard.
Also the "melt" riff is always amazing but should we talk about that UNBELIEVABLE whispered "life" at 3:53?!
Listen to Ariana’s cover
Callum Palmer A cover is so much different than an actual Elphie singing it
Callum Palmer im a huge ari fan, but if u put these together... ari just got shit on im sorry....
@@brookehollaway74 technique wise and range wise ari she’s a soprano so i expect that but raw vocals and growls is always lowkey gonna be better, rachel is damaging her voice i feel that vibrato is a little weird but she’s still amazing
@@callumpalmer4358 LOL, Ariana could only dream of being half as good as Rachel.

Oh my .... always speechless watching her singing
wow.... amazing vocals and so charesmatic .... just brilliant
Fast becoming one of my fave songs. Had it stuck in my head all week :)
She's amazing. I'm so glad I could see her live last year. Best Musical I've ever seen.
This was so amazing! The acting, the interpretation-her interpretation of it was so unique and gave me chills!!
Okay, but can we talk about how many times I've pulled back to 4:11... THAT GROWL that she slips in there ever so effortlessly on "ANNNNRRRRDDDD IIIIIIIII!!!" is simply ICONIC.
That's it, that's all.
The whole ending is awesome starting 3:36
Shes flat at 4:06 but eh whatever minor gripe lol
Saw her at her concert she was phenomenal, met her after she was so lovely
Stunning.
i cannot explain how expressive she is. she is amazing!
Wow!! I'm now gutted I've never seen her live. Holy cow she is.. beyond incredible!!!
And this is why she's Broadway!
Absolutely amazing performance, seen her twice as elphaba and is one of the best so far. If she ever came back to the London performance I would be there straight away 💚💚💚
BEST SINGER ON WEST END AND BROADWAY THERE I SAID IT. HER RIFFS AND GROWLS ARE INSANE
She's perfect!
she really is the Elphaba we all deserve.
The first elphaba that has told the story when she sings soo good!!
She gives me goose bumps every time I hear this and when I saw her in London I was near on crying she is that good.
This is utter perfection! I can’t stop watching it! 💚💚💚
Same here I had the chance to see them two weeks ago and it was absolutely amazing!!
THE MELT RIFF YASS

Honestly obsessed, and her ability to switch accents.. serious talent 😱😍

nezkeys79 her name is Willemijn.

I wanted to argue this point with you, but I have to say she puts so emotion and passion into her performance, she has won me over as well.
I am OBSESSED with her "things I've never felt" its so simple and sticks to the score but its sure pure and very well placed !! i hope she returns soon! bring her across the pond!

OBSESSED with her growl at the end
The riffs though.

The angry Idina fans! lol

Amber Tait It's now 7, but out of 1000. Remember, that's less than 1% of viewers. ;)
we want less than 0%. Not less than 1%.
flawless!
This was incredible!
She's inspired me to put on a brilliant performance at a competition where I'm performing this! 😁
Or at least try to
Her end note sounded like Christina Aguillera! She's such a delight! :D
‘melt’ hit different
I LOVE HER SO MUCH ! :'(
