Just saw her as Elphaba last week and she is honestly the best one. I've been watching the original cast and various other versions, and Rachel Tucker just blows me away more than any others. Her voice is so much more strong and powerful than other versions IMO.
I was in London last week and saw her for the first time live. And man....she simply blew me away! What a voice she has and how good she acted. Mind blowing! Willemijn Verkaik was always my favourite Elphaba, but it seems like she got some competition! I truly regret that I wasn't able to see her a second time.I have to return to London immediately!
I saw Wicked for the first time today .... Rachel blew me away!!!! By the time the first half ended, I was covered in chills and had firmly decided, whatever it takes, I'm making it to the West End stage!!!! lol....
her voice does this little squeak thing for some of the notes that i find so adorable....also her 'look to the western sky', ' everyone deserves the chance to fly' and ' take a message back from me' were incredible
she is so effing amazing. it's unreal. she puts riffs and harmonies into that song that no one's ever done before and it sounds bloody brilliant. effing amazing.
Listened to this on my speakers out loud and I was amazed. Listened to it with earphones, went into goose-bump-mind=blown-land. WOW, she is my new favourite Elphaba.
I agree with you whole-heartedly! I went to see Wicked in London last weekend (my first time in London and my first time watching a musical outside my country), and she was phenomenal. Defying Gravity was truly a spectacular moment... I can't deny that tears sprung to my eyes listening to her. I still get shivers just remembering it! We got to meet her after the show (and Gina Beck too!), as well as get photos and autographs, and she's just so nice. It was a very, very special moment!
I watched her in London. She really is good i literally cried my eyes out, to make things worst she performed here just days before i landed in London and took a tour of Trafalgar square and then went to watch her in Wicked. It was my first time ever watching it and i cried my heart out it was such a strong show, i love Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth there my number 1s but Rachel Tucker really blew me away. I love Rachel Tucker!!!
I saw Wicked on Monday and it was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen, Rachel Tucker was absolutely amazing. I've never clapped so hard than after I heard this song, her voice is amazing and the production itself was great. The other actors as well, I was very impressed, it surpassed everything I thought it could be.
Oh what would I give to see her live even once in my life!! If she sounds this good on a video, it's hard to imagine what it is like when you're really there! This is just incredible!!
This is one of the best videos yet! Thanks so much hun!!!. Ohh I love the way she says "From Me" and so many other little different things she does in this performance *dies*
Amazing singer :D Some singers in the charts these days aren't able to sing live, their voices are so manipulated by technology when they can't actually sing. Musicals on the other hand have extremely talented singers who deserve way more recognition than they get. Also, the best live performance I've seen :D Go Rachel!
I saw Rachel last night, mat her outside the theatre afterwards and she is THE MOST amazing singer ive heard on the west end!!!!!!!!!!!!! Her Defying Gravity and No Good Deed hypnotised me!!!!!!!!!!!!
i love that since this performance she has belting out those "look to the western sky" riffs on stage!!! And she did it in front of kerry fricking ellis :D GO RACHEL!!!!!!!!
At first I thought she looked a little bit awkward, probably nervous. But she is so amazing that it doesn't detract from the brilliance at all! Stunning voice - easily my favourite!
In my opinion, she's not only the best Elphaba EVER, she's the best singer/ actress EVER! I just love her voice! (and she must have been freezing that day!!)
Idina was always brilliant... but there is something hypnotic about the cleanness of Rachel Tucker's voice even on the highest note. The British accent is definitely a "plus" for the character of Elphaba, but nothing matters when you are in the theatre and Defying Gravity starts... Rachel Tucker's voice transports you to a place where you will be AMAZED, NO GRAVITY and it takes a while for you to realise that you are on the floor! Love her... THE BEST ELPHABA! Do it if you have the opportunity.X
I like Rachel here. I heard a different recording and was like, 'it's not that great' Now, I feel it. She does a great job again. I love the emotion in her voice.
@meotaku2 I cried because i've been wanting to watch WICKED for years and to finally watch it while in London was such an overwhelming experience that it just made me cry. About the whole "Men and women are different" thing i feel it doesn't matter who you are, you feel what you feel and if you feel like crying...who is to question that? i mean we're human both men and women have feelings and both men and women cry.
Went to see it the other day with Rachel as Elphaba. Not going to lie, i actually had tears in my eyes and all my hairs on my arms were standing up because it was just phenomenal. She had such a powerful voice and combined that with emotion, which made it the best version I have ever heard. Definitely replaces Idina Menzel as my favorite
I'm not so keen on some of her phrasing but you cannot deny the tone, power and control, and perfectly in tune too. Also...she is the sexiest looking Elpheba I've seen lmao. Btw what is the official name for the vocal technique she does with the word "deserves" (everyone one deserves 3:19 )
lol "infliction". I'm guessing that you meant inflection? Also while it is a "small riff" I think there is a name for such a technique. I hear it a lot with all kinds of pop vocalists...mariah for example
I will agree with you on phrasing. A lot of her words blend together but man does she have the pipes and richness in her voice. And I would love to know how she can growl and not have a sore throat after that battle cry :O
The only thing that would've made this absolutely perfect would be if she had added the growl at the end like she normally does. But, apart from that, I am speechless!
not sure what you were seeing, because West End Live isn't until June, and Rachel is recovering from laryngitis at the minute and not doing matinee shows so that's probably why she wasn't performing :(
Just saw her as Elphaba last week and she is honestly the best one. I've been watching the original cast and various other versions, and Rachel Tucker just blows me away more than any others. Her voice is so much more strong and powerful than other versions IMO.
Yes Rachel... defy gravity. slay gravity. make gravity beg for mercy. Yes. Yes. Yes.........just.................yes.
"To FlyyYYYY!" My favorite part!!!
The Best Singer I Ever Heard i had the honor to seeing her Twice Live In Wicked
check out Mary Gidget Dela Llana .
By the time the first half ended, I was covered in chills and had firmly decided, whatever it takes, I'm making it to the West End stage!!!! lol....
Who heard the news last week?! Rachel is going to reprise Elphaba in the Broadway Production starting September 15th!!
her voice does this little squeak thing for some of the notes that i find so adorable....also her 'look to the western sky', ' everyone deserves the chance to fly' and ' take a message back from me' were incredible
she is so effing amazing. it's unreal. she puts riffs and harmonies into that song that no one's ever done before and it sounds bloody brilliant. effing amazing.
went to see her in london and she gave me chills, and she did it again now..incredible
Listened to this on my speakers out loud and I was amazed. Listened to it with earphones, went into goose-bump-mind=blown-land. WOW, she is my new favourite Elphaba.
tears. so many tears. i didn't think it was possible for one person to be so perfect for a role... but yet here she is...
I finally got to see the show on Friday and Rachel Tucker as Elphaba. The chills she gave me singing this song were INCREDIBLE.
I LOVE this woman! Sweetest, most caring person ever! Unbelieveable voice!!! This is true talent people!!!
I saw her last week while visiting London and she was amazing.
Best Elphaba in my opinion!!☺️
Not opinion, fact.
This woman is just perfection. I adore her riffs in this song, but even without the riffs, shes sings it so perfectly!
Ah this was such a great day! Got to meet her afterwards, she's absolutely lovely.
ive seen wicked many times and i love how this girl makes the songs her own, love it
I watched her in London.
Rachel Tucker is sensational. I swear I got goosebumps when I saw her live in August!
shes amazing. ive seen her twice now wish i could sing something with her xxxx
Just watched Wicked today and Rachel Tucker was amazing as Elphaba. Hit evry note effortlessly. I had goosebumps when she sang Defying Gravity.
ive seen her and omg i was mind blown! stunning!!
That was literally mind-blowing - and potentially the best live performance (outside of the theatre) I have seen of DG !!
Best Elphaba ever, I'm so very glad I went to the Apollo when I went to London this summer!
Saw her live last night for the second time Amazing !!!!!!! -3
This is my first time hearing/seeing Rachel, and I've. Got. CHILLS!!!
She is so phenomenal. Wicked will always be on top of my favorites list.
She's the best. I wish this was available on itunes.
Oh what would I give to see her live even once in my life!! If she sounds this good on a video, it's hard to imagine what it is like when you're really there! This is just incredible!!
I saw wicked today...Amazing show and Rachel is one talented lady...when she belts out the last notes of this song, my hair stood on end.
She is the most amazing singer on the west end and she is soo beautiful!!!!!!!!!!! :)
OH MY GOD I'M GOING TO SEE HER IN JULY! SO EFFING EXCITED!
This is one of the best videos yet! Thanks so much hun!!!.
Ohh I love the way she says "From Me" and so many other little different things she does in this performance *dies*
Outstanding performance at the Apollo Theatre last night. She is the real deal!
Amazing singer :D
Some singers in the charts these days aren't able to sing live, their voices are so manipulated by technology when they can't actually sing.
Musicals on the other hand have extremely talented singers who deserve way more recognition than they get.
Also, the best live performance I've seen :D Go Rachel!
Same! I going to see her again then as well!
Great riffs. Goosebumps.
My jaw literally dropped at some of the 'West end riffs' she did during the actual show. She is amazing, and so worth the money. :3
I've seen Wicked about 5 times in my life and i absolutely love it! All characters of Wicked are amazing! -Taylor

mary gidget can sing this a way better.
I just saw Rachel Tucker and she was the best elphaba
At first I thought she looked a little bit awkward, probably nervous. But she is so amazing that it doesn't detract from the brilliance at all! Stunning voice - easily my favourite!
INCREDIBLE!
So Much LOVE!!!!!!
In my opinion, she's not only the best Elphaba EVER, she's the best singer/ actress EVER! I just love her voice!
(and she must have been freezing that day!!)
Stunning...Love Wicked :)
I LOVE her!!! she was Elphaba when I went :) Literally gave me goosebumps!! :D
she is amazing

MARK YOUR CALENDARS, Rachel Tucker will return to the West End as Elphaba on September 5.
I've seen the 1st North American Tour and the Broadway productions... I wanna see the West End one next!
I like Rachel here. I heard a different recording and was like, 'it's not that great' Now, I feel it. She does a great job again. I love the emotion in her voice.
Rachel @3 14 ....
Beyond Amazing !!
She's returning to the West End -Sep 3rd
@Gymdiva96 she was indeed! she is from my home town, belfast.!
That "to fly" is insanely good.
@tooty644 @danefritz2006 agreed. we love her too much, plus she's already extended well into 2012 :')
Rachel giving the crowd what it wants...as always
@meotaku2 I cried because i've been wanting to watch WICKED for years and to finally watch it while in London was such an overwhelming experience that it just made me cry. About the whole "Men and women are different" thing i feel it doesn't matter who you are, you feel what you feel and if you feel like crying...who is to question that? i mean we're human both men and women have feelings and both men and women cry.
Rachel was my first Elphie! :) xx
This needs to be on Itunes
Went to see it the other day with Rachel as Elphaba. Not going to lie, i actually had tears in my eyes and all my hairs on my arms were standing up because it was just phenomenal. She had such a powerful voice and combined that with emotion, which made it the best version I have ever heard. Definitely replaces Idina Menzel as my favorite
She looks like martina mcbride so much, She is really an amazing actress!
Rachel was my first Elphie!
@MultiDom99 You're correct. She did so because Louise Dearman wasn't there.
She's improved so much since I'd do anything!!
wow ♥ awsome!!! *_*
Oh man I guess... She is the original and all... but Rachel Tucker is insane!! I've seen her actually in Wicked twice and rocked it both times :3 xx
I think both Rachel and Idina are amazing Elphaba's. I cant decide wich one i like best, so I think i like them both just as much
I'm not so keen on some of her phrasing but you cannot deny the tone, power and control, and perfectly in tune too. Also...she is the sexiest looking Elpheba I've seen lmao. Btw what is the official name for the vocal technique she does with the word "deserves" (everyone one deserves 3:19 )
I suppose it would be considered a small riff or infliction :)
lol "infliction". I'm guessing that you meant inflection? Also while it is a "small riff" I think there is a name for such a technique. I hear it a lot with all kinds of pop vocalists...mariah for example
It sounds like she is starting at one note, going up, then back down...but when ever I try to sing that motion it never sounds the same :(
I will agree with you on phrasing. A lot of her words blend together but man does she have the pipes and richness in her voice. And I would love to know how she can growl and not have a sore throat after that battle cry :O
+nezkeys79 its a riff, kinda like an acciacciatura
HOLY. CRAPP.
The only thing that would've made this absolutely perfect would be if she had added the growl at the end like she normally does. But, apart from that, I am speechless!
She is my second best Elphaba, my best/first one is Willemijn Verkaik (she is dutch)
I Think so...I am so sad about it....=(( she was so amazing....
Powerhouse! Snm!
not sure what you were seeing, because West End Live isn't until June, and Rachel is recovering from laryngitis at the minute and not doing matinee shows so that's probably why she wasn't performing :(
Is there a CD of the british cast of wicked?
Indina FTW !
Fucking love Rachel Tucker.
