Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

That's what I was always confused about. I've never seen the co-relation to planes and dogs. All the dogs I know, can't fly.

How to make a competitive wingless plane by scrap...
Step 1: Make a really well armored heavy flying brick.
Step 2: Put huge exposed critical parts on the outside.

With how powerful the new blaster is, I think a tank battle would be kinda crazy with all the new blocks. Shield and armor, and use of all weapons could lead to some interesting tactics.
I think yuzi’s gyro set up made his craft very ‘slippery’ making your missiles have a lot of trouble predicting him.

I wonder if mount orientation has any impact of the weapons' tracking. Scrapman's guns were mounted sideways but Yzuie's were fully upside down. If they have less up-down range of motion than left-right, that might be why Scrapman's lock-on didn't seem as effective.

Tests were conducted using a 2x2 block dropped 1 block onto a single anchor pin using detachable blocks at a range of 20 studs (to borrow the LEGO term). A 2x2 stack of pistons then moved the target block until the lock disengaged. The guns were rotated in place, always occupying the same 2x2 space regardless of orientation.
Smart Cannon: Left/Right 21 (42 total). Up 17/Down 18 (35 total).
Mini Gun: Left/Right 15 (30 total). Up 11/Down 12 (23 total).
Blaster: Left/Right 14 (28 total). Up 10/Down 11 (21 total).
Large Cannon & EMP Launcher: Left/Right 18 (36 total). Up 14/Down 15 (29 total).
Rocket Launcher: Left/Right 18 (36 total). Up 15/Down 14 (29 total).
Note: The Rocket Launcher uniquely defaults to mounting underslung, however "Up" and "Down" here still refer to having the attachment points on the bottom and top, respectively.
Your comment about forgetting shields gave me an idea - One of you has shields and lower tier weapons while the other has better weapons and no shields. Both crafts could be built with shields, and then alternate who gets to turn theirs on. Sort of an interesting test to see what weapons it would take to balance out the advantage of shields vs. no shields. It could be done in atmosphere or space. Your choice.
Reminds me of the old gladiator battles where one would wear a sleek helmet with a shield and dagger, and the other would have a trident and net

Idea: Vehicle battle.
Just build anything that will hopefully get you the win. Let's see Howmush destruction we can see when you're only limited to your imagination (and the 700 block limit).
Maybe build a plane with 5 of every weapon?
Maybe build a truck with 20 miniguns on the back.
Or maybe build a submarine that can fly so you can hide under the water.
I think it's will be fun too see what everyone comes up with.

You should do dogfights with jess’ custom missile and seeker mod once it gets more features. It currently works but is in a sort of open beta.
Since the wedges can create downforce and upforce, I'd love to see a dogfight where all your lift comes from wedges :)
I wonder if it is possible to build using wedges to achieve a 'real' wing profile which would generate lift similarly to real life physics.

A challenge where you build your vehicles, and don't show them to the other person before you battle them would be cool I think.
Definitely could tell you enjoyed doing that video and enjoyed being yourself. So glad to see it.
A cool Idea would be to fight with "space" ships flying around and using cannon balls for some cool fights.
I love your vids man, thanks for all the hard work. Small note for today's, sounds like you've got some extra reverb on your vocal audio channel.
You should do a challenge where the dispensers are the only weapon. So you could have a vehicle that shoots snowballs all the way to a missile that drops a line of walls. The only limitation being it has to be a land vehicle. This would be super cool cause of the all the flexibility in the weapons.
Great video! Also I wonder what the next major Trailmakers update is going to be.
I would love to see a boss fight mode or something where one person has a bunch of shields and a turret and everyone else is trying to destroy them with high power vehicles

I wanna see a 2v2 race where one person drives the build, the other is mounted on a turret that only has EMPs equipped on it. Bonus rules, if your vehicle sustains damage you cannot repair (to make EMP'd tumbles more impactful) and no shields are allowed.

I think you should do a 'superweapon' dogfight. - multiple players work in teams of 2, 700 blocks, any weapons, cores, items etc you want, an hour to design. The catch? They must all fly. Someone might go for a slow, heavily armored gunship bristling with forward firing guns or turrets, someone might make something SUPER fast and evasive with a rocket alpha strike at close range, someone else might make something that fires in all directions and spins like the death blossom from The Last Starfighter.. I reckon you guys could come up with something *NUTS*, and I know you'd get the interaction/clicks, cuz everyone loves seeing people push a game and their creativity to crazy limits.
I think Yzuei managed to make it more functional for once. Nice work. Scrapman, I think your rocket were bugged.

What would you think about doing something in Storm Works: Build and Rescue? It might be a little out of your comfort zone, though.

Ooooh no wings! I have started to remove ailerons and go for compact plane designs using the gyro thingy, you should make a challenge off that.

A TNT plane fight with 1-3 layers of shields to protect you might be interesting to see.
Idea: you fight on the "planet" inside the asteroid field and play in first person. Your view will be blocked off so you can only use the weapon aiming radicals to navigate. You are out when your weapons got taken out

How about Snake Planes? Your thrust and main lift on the first, larger section with smaller sections attached behind it by 0 power hinges and just enough lift to support themselves.

4:28 my idea (im at that time rn so dont blame me if he does this later on) is adding 1 more gun at the top of the plane so you Can shoot a little above you to account for upwards evasive manuevers
dog fight idea: have an underwater fight but using space weapons if the weapons work underwater it should be fun
second idea: space ships vs military basicly one team fight the air kinda like a ground vs air fight but with new weapons
Been building some crazy mono wheel vehicles with new gyros, there easy and insanely good.
scrapman you can turn on the old rotation things on in the settings
Space battle but the only propulsion being quantum rudders working like a paddle steamer
So spaceships on earth (or whatever planet trailmakers is based on)
yzuei clearely been playing star citizen and taking inspiration from the MSC Razor
I dont know if you know but, the always upright gyro (I forget the name atm) works with a rotating device in it. So to keep you rocking from back and forth, or nose pitching down, turn the gyro sideways just like you would if you used a heli engine with angle sensor.

I have an idea for you guys, a dogfight with flying wings, basically a plane without a fuselage and is nothing but wings.
A fight using the same craft in air and space would be cool
For extra challenge you could be forced to use wings in atmosphere

I think a good and interesting idea would be making space crafts in the space map, with a 150 block limit, and then without telling the others beforehand going to the floating island map and then fighting eachother
I think the reason your rockets were missing and Yzuei were not was the shape of the paths you were taking, his was always curving and the rockets would shoot where he could have been had he gone straight, and you were keeping straight mostly. Either way GG

The Chirpo Info keeps claiming Quantum Rudders never wanna be oriented sideways... are they really unable to do anything except add Drag in that orientation...?
Curiosity: Do Quantum Rudders work underwater...? Hard not to wonder if Subs could do anything with'em...
Do a juggernaut fight where 1 player can use 700 blocks, unlimited shield generators, and unlimited weapons, while everyone else is restricted to 1 shield generator, a reasonable number of power cores for weapons (say about 8), and 100 blocks

I remember Scraps made a vid where he made a wingless plane, but since it was before most of the DLC was released, it looked a lot more like those experimental NASA lifting body aircraft. Now they basically made piloted missiles with guns. Kinda feels cheated using the gyros.
You need to do a plane-sub battle. It would be cool to see you chase each other into the water

idk why you didnt use the space thrusters they are way smaller then dragon jets and you can fit 500 power in the same space as a dragon jet
