Alcibiates just happening to be there and convincing Sparta to war when Corinth couldn't is the best thing
to be fair, Alcibiates (that random Athenian) had a reputation as literally the Hottest guy in the Ancient Greek world. he was also a low-key Supervillain more or less starting all the trouble in this video
Edit: i should probably say right now that Ancient Greece was also literally the Gayest Culture of the Mediterranean and explain just how Hot and Charismatic Alcibiates was. before the whole syracusan expedition, Alcibiates could convince you, a random Athenian guy, to Bang, then convince you later to let him Cuck you with your wife and pay him for the privilege of letting him cuck you. guy was just that hot and charismatic.
Came for the Subsidies, stayed for the plot.
I find it strange that you did not mention that the same man, who proposed the Sicilian expedition, was the very same one who fled Athens, informed Spartans about it and proposed to help Syracuse against the Athenians.
This man have also tried to unsuccessfully advise the Athenians not to engage in the final naval battle, arguing that they lacked a steady supply line and harbour for the ships, while the enemy did. His advice fell on deaf ears and the Spartans under Lysander ambushed and destroyed the last Athenian fleet.
*Alkibiades* disappeared in the annals of history afterwards.
He does mention it in the philosophy videos later, so I can only assume this omission was for narrative purposes.
I can't remember Alkibiades except for the parties in Assassin creed Odyssey

He was forced into exile by Athens for... huh sorta cult reasons or smt he didnt respect, AFTER launching the expedition to Sicily, went to Sparta to screw the expedition, but was then exiled from Sparta because he f***ed one of the Spartan kings wife lol, then came back in Athens as Hero by putting down the new Oligarchy, only to then be forced to leave again e0because Sparta won yada yada yada

I first discovered that series while I was in middle school and now I’m going into college and it’s still holds up as one of my favorite UA-cam series in my mind.

Really nice vid, but I just wanted to say you better use the ancient flags for the cities. Both Carthage and Macedon have symbols that could be used as flags.
We try to follow the rules of Polandball as laid out on r/Polandball as much as possible. So while we're not above deviating from them (we did that quite a lot in these videos by making custom flags for Athens/Sparta/etc.), Carthage only shows up briefly. And using the FYROM/North Macedon isn't too inaccurate, is in-line with the rules, and can be funny to some people.

kinda yes but mostly no. if sparta cared about melos, it could force harsher terms on athens for its crimes. but who cares about melos anyway? sadly the lesson is there, always. weak suffer what they must (at least in international relations).
Not really. As he said after the war had ended many cities like Thebes, Cornith, Melos and Plateai wanted to demolish Athens as to not be threat again and take revenge for their harsh behaviour. Sparta on the other had (not having witnessed such attrocities) didn't go their way and imposed the terms on the video because the Athenians stopped the first persian invasion at the battle of Marathon.

That's by design. When depicting ancient states in Polandball, you use the closest modern flag available - no matter how absurd! Obviously, we also made some of our own flags for this video. Ancient city-states didn't have flags, only symbols.

@@CallMeEzekiel Yeah, yet you didn't use Iranian flag for Persia.
Iran was definitely a valid option. But we chose to use the Achaemenid eagle because, whereas Iran calls itself "Iran" to make clear that it's a country for the multiple "Iranian" peoples living within its borders (which includes Persians), the Persian empire was explicitly ruled and dominated only by Persians. So the Iranian flag isn't a great fit for them.
@Ανδρέας Καντάς I'm aware of the FYROM/North Macadon vs. Greece thing. However, there's a history of using the North Macedon flag for ancient Macedon in Polandball. It's partly a reference to North Macadon's LARPing as a successor state to the ancient Macedonians. But it's also because there's a preference for national over sub-divisional flags in Polandball.

In regard to using the FYROM flag for ancient Macedon... There's a tradition of using the FYROM flag for ancient Macedon in Polandball. My favorite reason for this is that's it's simply a jokey reference to FYROM's LARPing as a successor state to ancient Macedon - with the joke being at FYROM's expense!

I love ur videos but you did get something wrong the Macedonia you used is not the real one that one was made to keep the Bulgarians in Yugoslavia from joining Bulgaria so Yugoslavia told those people they were Macedonian that's why Greece has bad relations with them
You put the wrong flag of Macedonia. That's the flag of Skopje, a Slavic country near Greece. The flag of Macedonia is a purple background with the vergina sun in the middle.
Please change it or mention it if possible because it's misleading and misinformative.
The macidonian flag is inacurate since tha ancient macedonians arent the ancestors of the morden ones since they decend from slavs and not greek like the ancient macedonians ,hell this so called "macedonians" dont even have lands in actual macedonia.
Although i think it´s quite funny how passionate modern greeks defend the macedonians as being of greek heritage, while Phillip and Alexander really struggled to get acknowledged by the southern city states as greeks.
