Forging Log Tongs to Feed the Sawmill

- Moving big logs to the sawmill with the forks on the tractor is not ideal. I'm going to forge and fabricate 2 pairs of log tongs and create an apparatus that will allow me to safely pick up log and place them on the sawmill easily. This is Part 1 of 2.
Teeth need to point upwards more. Other than that, the tongs should work well.
Well we will test them out as is and modify as required!...stay tuned
You are right! As seen in my newest video I had to change the angle of the teeth. I appreciate your comments and they were well founded!
@Thehomesteader Ill have to watch your newest video. I have 2 sets of CM tongs some 16's & 32's, they are regarded as the only good quality US tong makers left and after using them for awhile you start to understand the mechanics behind how they work. Sounds like you got it figured out as well, best regards.
The old snow Quench
Its handy!
That teeth will not work well.. I think you need to cut only one angle on the tooth , with the "high spot" tip of the angle, up to the center of the tongs,, Then sharpened it with a file..
Thanks…I’ll post how it works and any changes if needed.
I did have to adjust them to work better. See my new video. Thanks again for your help!
