I have a Costa Rican Zebra like this one too. I can tell you she is really weird in her behavior. She is totally harmless, but 2-3 hours a night she will climb all over her enclosure walls and litteraly let herself fall on her back from the top of the wall, like 30 times every night. She is very bolty, but in a weird way. One minute I touch her and nothing, she stays still and moves a bit very slowly, but the next minute boom I touch her and she bolts at 300 mph giving me a heart attack. Very skiddish and shy, but beautiful and sweet.

I've been thinking for awhile now, pondering why you haven't got any Venus flytraps in the Den. should be humid enough and got great lights for them as well. Ponder the idea?
We have mosquito hawks in the USA not sure what their scientific name is but that's what I've known them as. They look like prehistoric mosquitoes. They are beneficial and please don't squash them :)
Leather jacket is another name for them -edit, nevermind, a quick google search informed me that leather jacket is the larvae form of the crane fly, *neat* !
Have you ever thought of 3d printing the background part of the enclosure? You can design the background textures for it how you want, save on plexiglass, and eliminate foam use.
Hmm, I think a planted background makes more sense. Anything else would destroy the dynamic look an would be weird, an the tarantula doesn't REAAALLY care.. I mean they don't see that good at all..
@@esist2wild yeah that could work. The backgrounds are certainly not for the spiders. It is more for the keepers pleasure. I have a few of the old Exo Terra Herbospheres and they have the photographic backgrounds and they look pretty sweet when you try to blend it with the substrate inside the enclosure. If done correctly it would work well. Either that or the corkbark sheets you can get and cut them to size and stick them to the backgrounds. But they are more expensive. Especially with so many enclosures to put them in.
Ive been around since the apartment dark den and just realizing how much you have achieved in that amount of time make me happy. I'm from Ohio and ive always wanted to keep tarantulas and snakes. But you and chandler fill that void for me
I live closer to Kentucky and around here I can barely find places that will let me rent with dogs or cats. If I bring a big as spider im just asking for an eviction
Yes I have a sweet girl, raised from a sling, she is actually my second one my first was very small and had a fatale accident in my bedroom. Also called a stripe knee
maybe you could still use the carved Styrofoam background that you like by covering it in black EPOXY which dries HARDER than the caulk then your T's wouldn't be able to get through to the Styrofoam.....👍🤘✌and you could still stick dirt/substrate to it
My female adult I have is very defensive 😓 am very gentle with her but she is so aggressive unfortunately. Wish. I could handle her like this as she is a beautiful spider
Wow Amazing Spider she so pretty Dark den love your vlogs so much was scare of spiders too but watching your videos makes me want to get a spider.. so cool.. thanks so very much yes put them on the web site for sure they are cool thanks again... Much Love From London ontario love your cages too
hey have you ever thought about putting some sort of absorbent material on the bottom so that whne you transfer the enclosure to your table you will be less likely to spook them via vibrations?
nearly have a heart attack seeing u holding her ... mine is a monster, just ....a monster , more than an OBT , she bite everything entering her enclosure , Seemannis are a nervous Aphonopelma species , i'll never hold mine again (she was my first T , i hold her when she was a juvenile , now i have a fat ass adult female .. i dont deal with her anymore)
While I am anxious to see the progress on the new (fourth?) Dark Den, a new denizen and a future feeding video make the wait worth while. Thanks, Petco!
I have been subbed to you from the beginning and my son has been watching your videos with me. He keeps saying "he is REAL!? We need to go visit him" and from watching for so long I have learned how beautiful Croatia is and would LOVE to make the trip and plan to when this covid nonsense is a thing of the past. I only have one question, when you move the dark Den into your den... will fans and fellow hobbyists be able to visit and meet you or will the new wife not like that so much :) from one lover of arachnids to another. They should make a pixar movie about how all the Ts come out and party when he leaves. And the old worlds are the bad guys.
"The Secret Life of Ts"
Would be cool but wouldn't happen🙃
I'd watch it...
I don’t like the title but I love the idea. Kinda like the pets movie. But for T lovers.
tarantula story(toy story)
basically the poecis are the bad guys

Right, A. seemani belongs to a collection like yours. Sweet girl with beautiful legs! You also need a chalcodes.
What a beautiful tarantula! This tarantula isn't found in the US, however. They're found from Mexico to Costa Rica
He mentioned “some” of the genus is from the US. Aka calcodes and hentzi

it’s better than a fly swat then at least something would be ingesting them and they’d be dying for a reason
He could make a whole terrarium with carnivorous plants.
Flytraps, pitcher plants, etc.
Petko.
This.
Many times this.
Most carnivores plants need full sun all day they wouldn't do good inside.
I’m a fairly new viewer but I find your accent and voice very soothing and have to watch at least one video a day to feel like my day is complete 😂😅
His voice and passion is what keeps me coming back for sure.
Almost looks like she's wearing a Halloween skeleton costume. She's stunning.
When you said more space for activities I immediately thought step brothers but with spiders. This movie needs to be animated.
DD: **explains how flies are annoying while smacking the swatter**
The fly at 3:09 : *BUZZ~~~*
The large mosquito is likely a crane fly. Awesome vid as usual!

Don’t kill them! Haha we call them mosquito eaters! They’re amazing to have around. Well in my opinion haha
I immediately assumed it was a type of cranefly
Dah G Man I think they’re the same thing it’s just what I call them haha :p
Leather jacket is another name for them
-edit, nevermind, a quick google search informed me that leather jacket is the larvae form of the crane fly, *neat* !
That's a pretty tarantula. Should call her Skelly since the coloring on her legs look like bones kind of like a skeleton
Google this one: ephebopus murinus
Have you ever thought of 3d printing the background part of the enclosure? You can design the background textures for it how you want, save on plexiglass, and eliminate foam use.
Hmmmm, good idea although it would take ages to print
*has a big cork bark and enclosure*
Petko: so spacious oh my god
🤣😂
I'm calling it a fly squatter now
When are the crabs joining the dark den??? Can’t wait 😂😂
Maybe it would be a good idea to have photographic backgrounds that would suit their natural environment.

You can buy bark tiles that come in the common enclosure sizes. And you can always give them a trim if they are slightly too big.
Nice you got that tarantula that will most likely destroy waterdish
Omg I have a spices of tarantula that the dark den didn't have. I feel like a "serious" keeper with my three t's now!!!
Oh wow! My jaw dropped when you opened the container. It's beautiful!
Beautiful tarantula bud!

Have you tried a board made of natural wood as background? But it would probably to moist for that.
